It must be tiring trying to keep track of everyone's status.

they have to have something to do 🙂 . they probably time how long towels are on pool chairs too.

i do wish status of any kind would be banned from this board . but i know it cannot. but the person that thought being elite means their cancellation should be handled extra special was the epitome of the issue.  i also think sometimes people are just in a contest to see how many points they get etc. id be happy if all cruises eliminated all these things. does anyone really think people would stop cruising if there was no status? i think they would do just fine. i just laugh and pity the people on here that flaunt their status. modesty is more classy of a trait. not knowing someone is super duper  triple platinum is fine for me.

I agree that some folks on this board enjoy and flaunt their Captain's Club status with Celebrity and others for whatever loyalty program they belong too.  But I believe in the majority of cases CC members do not flaunt their status from what I have seen anyway, whether on these boards or on ships.  Captain's Club members have earned benefits, not status.

You do realize that you can push the "ignore" in your settings.  That way,  anyone that you consider to flaunt their status will never be seen by you.

This just needs to be said one more time so I quoted you!

No one has any "status" on any ship. Guests have benefits they have earned and amenities/perks they have purchased.

People who seem entitled on a cruise probably live their daily lives like that and it has nothing to do with captain's club level or cabin category booked. Best thing anyone can do is walk away from them.

fun story about entitlement...if you have been in haven on the bigger NCL ships you know when you enter haven there is a long narrow hall that opens up to the concierge desk then lounge. this is usually where you meet for when the concierge takes you to shows and when you do priority disembark etc.  the crew door you take is right near the entrance to haven. thus. if you are in the lounge, you are farther from it than if you were waiting in the hall. but if you come late, the lounge is full and you pretty much are forced to wait in the hall. this means  you are 1st in line for priority disembark. some 'punk' was standing there in the lounge across from me and not happy that a large multigenerational family came in late and was basically gonna get in the elevator before him. he had the nerve to ***** to one of the staff. actually said these people got here after me and are going to get off before me.

yea..he was that guy...cannot imagine living like that day to day when he's waiting in line at an amusement park or for food etc. or TSA in an airport. me me me..all about him. if he was with anyone it wasnt obvious but there arent too many solos in haven usually. they probably snuck away and hid under the table.

i better not see any non CC people at my sailaway lunch in the MDR. ill be checking the computer screen as everyone enters to be sure!  wondering if anyone else ever tried to crash the CC lunch ?

Then be sure not to talk with the other people at the sailaway lunch in the MDR. 🤫

Maybe I should not be disillusioning you with this shocking fact, but at least the past half-dozen times we and our companions were seated for lunch in the MDR on sailaway day,  none of us were in CC. 😲

Several other categories of people are also eligible to have lunch in the MDR on sailaway days, and they were already having lunch there for years before Celebrity even decided to add Concierge Class.

i still think X has too many classes...seeing all these updates makes it true that there are hard feelings. why would a cruise line want to introduce stress into their ships like this?

Back-to-back cruisers on their second (or subsequent) cruises are invited to the embarkation day lunch in the MDR, regardless of what kind of room they are in (although they have a choice of either the MDR or Luminae if they are in a suite).  I think B2B cruisers were invited to lunch there even before CC cruisers were.

I recall  from a review we followed that you also eat "clean" as we do..Hope to hear it is easy to simplify  some of the  gourmet recipes, sauce on the side etc.

You're correct.  I mostly eat organic at home and I don't eat red meat.  My wife eats very little red meat and no sauces.  LOL.  I think she'll find Luminae more of a challenge than I will.   If you also recall, I received a lot of comments on my blog, wondering why we would cruise if we're more picky with food.  My answer was " Food is just one part of the cruise, there are many other aspects we enjoy".  Since having weight loss surgery almost 7 years ago, I now eat to live, rather than living to eat.    I actually always lose weight on a cruise.

There is a great misconception here that Luminae food is sauce-heavy not as clean as compared to Blu. In fact, if you compare the two sets of 14 day menus from Luminae and Blu, you won't find any remarkable differences between the two in terms of which is "cleaner." They're both pretty fancy. The real difference in the two dining rooms is volume of diners, space between tables, server to diner ratios, willingness to cook off menu, and extra courses in Luminae, which always has an amuse bouche and will have an extra dessert course on elegant nights with a cart of mignardises. The food in Luminae is a bit higher quality and is more easily cooked to order than in other galleys around the ship because they're used to it. If you don't want a sauce, simply ask for none. My one nit with the Luminae menus and Celebrity ship menus in general is that they're not very veg-forward.

We nearly always ask for "sauce on the side" for our dinners at Luminae and they are happy to accommodate.  That way we can try it and if we like we use it, if not we don't.

Never had anything fancy  in BLU!

Love the salads, enjoy dbl veggies and lo carb , lo salt meals, no gravies or salty soups!

The first time we sailed in AQ and experienced Blu, I was super impressed.  The last cruise, not so much.  I had a more than a few "misses".  Undercooked items mostly.  Raw risotto, blood red steak for my wife(when ordered medium well).  Raw lasagna noodles.  The lobster was the best thing I ate on that cruise.  The "lump crab" martini was definitely not lump crab.  It was more like shredded canned crab.  Different strokes I guess.    After the cruise, I never, ever wanted to see 1 asparagus spear and 3 mushrooms on my breakfast plate again.

It seems to me that the "hard feelings" are only experienced by those who want a bargain basement cruise but with all the extras that others are paying more for.  Just like on airplanes, where there are many different classes at different price points.  Or hotels.  I don't see people fighting about that.

Who is it exactly that you think is trying to get all the extras at a bargain basement price?  All the original poster said was that Suite guests should stay in Luminae, I wasn't going to comment but after reading this entire thread I happened to look on FB and in several posts its was suite guests saying they prefer Blu and that the service in Luminae was lacking.  If Luminae is as wonderful as you claim I don't see why this would be an issue.

Everyone has opinions about food, some like it, some don't. Some may prefer Blu over Luminae but have never seen a post anywhere on any social media that said service in Luminae was lacking.

Not to get too far OT, I agree with the OP. But since CC tier level has surfaced.  We would like to see the Captains Club stop allowing elite and above from escorting their non elite or above stateroom buddy to the CC HH, the elite or above breakfast or any other benefit/perk they may get for staying in the same stateroom.  If you haven't done the time (paid your dues)...

Seen that behavior a few times myself.....how do people know someones CC status or the room they're in, because some are only too happy to tell you.  Ever notice how many posts start off with...I am Elite + and I've earned this or that....you didn't really EARN anything but instead you Bought it.

As we should be. 😎🍻

"Should be" is just an opinion and everyone is welcome to his or her opinion.  The Welcome Aboard lunch in the MDR is for Concierge Class people and the Welcome Aboard lunch in Luminae is for Suite Class people.  I cannot think of any objective reason why B2B cruisers who are not in either of those classes should be invited to one but not the other, other than historical practice.  This circles back to the OP's point.  B2B cruisers who are not in suites are not invited to the Welcome Aboard lunch in Luminae because having them in Luminae would probably cause overcrowding at that venue.  This is exactly the reason why Suite Class cruisers should not be invited to Blu.

Well, it's not exactly germane to this thread, but if you look at all the posts on Cruise Critic, I think you will see what I mean.  I see a fair amount of griping about the benefits suite guests are paying for.

You state that in several posts, suite guests said they preferred Blu to Luminae.  That's hardly a large majority.  All I can tell you is that I have found the food and service in Luminae to be outstanding.  Beyond my expectations.  As have people I've cruised with.  I've only sailed once in Aqua.  The service in Blu was excellent.  The food, not so much.  I did love the muesli cart at breakfast.  Sadly, that is no more.  I've also found the food and service in the MDR to be very good lately.  That is my own personal opinion.  I do not presume to speak for others who have not shared their personal opinions with me.

You seem to have missed the statement that B2B cruisers were invited to lunch in the MDR long before concierge class folks were.  So, if there's an overcrowding issue (which I've not observed there to be), it would be caused by the addition of the concierge class folks.

Now wait a minute...  I reached the exalted stars of "Associate Emperor" on the Klondike game on my iPad.  That should get me something, right?  An extra butter patty at dinner?

Somewhat tired of posters who express opinions that they should have something others are enjoying.  As adults and paying "guests" we should know and do better.
