tracyfitzs Posted March 13, 2020 #1 Share Posted March 13, 2020 Anyone on a cruise now? What is your experience? If we don't get a response I will try to make some updates from my cruise that leaves Sunday.

I plan to do so on the Encore on the 29th providing my sailing isn't cancelled!
Jerl4738 Posted March 13, 2020 #4 Share Posted March 13, 2020 On the Gem now. They definitely have upped sanitary measures. What concerns me most about this cruise is getting off and facing all the panic going on back home!

We're supposed to be on Joy 3/22; still on the fence and wondering about the atmosphere on board. Are you still allowed to have fun? Thanks! kimandtim Posted March 13, 2020 #6 Share Posted March 13, 2020 I just got off the Getaway on Sunday and my daughter is on it right now. We both found it to be business as usual. We both noticed extra cleaning ( never a bad thing) and my daughter has said that they are not allowing self service in the buffet any longer.

Lots of washy washy. Single use condiments. Public restroom doors propped open (not stalls, though). They've locked up the library books -my biggest problem! Still lots of fun. I'm more concerned about returning home and dealing with that chaos. For now I have plenty of toilet paper, cleaning supplies, food and entertainment!!
Rare Liljo22 Posted March 13, 2020 #9 Share Posted March 13, 2020 Mostly business as usual on the Getaway right now. More cleaning and no self serve but nothing has been cancelled. Having a blast and regret having to get off Sunday and join the craziness of the real world. My kids school extended Spring Break two weeks but I still have to work. There was rumors that they were offering people a $250pp deal to stay on next week but if true that is dead now.
EllieinNJ Posted March 13, 2020 #10 Share Posted March 13, 2020 Just read on another site that NCL Sun made all the passengers leave the ship after Muster drill.
hftmrock Posted March 13, 2020 #11 Share Posted March 13, 2020 I just got off the NCL Sky today after being on for 4 nights. they were very conscious of making things as sanitary as possible. It was a wonderful cruise.

Gershep Posted March 13, 2020 #14 Share Posted March 13, 2020 I feel bad for all these people that have to leave the ship and for all the people who aren't going to get paid because of this virus.
Roger88 Posted March 14, 2020 #15 Share Posted March 14, 2020 My aunt just got back To New York from the cruise. The cruise was all nice and stuff but they had to go through a Carantine zone in a port in New York. It took them something like 6 hours to leave the ship. Well, they had carribean cruise, so I guess it was much safer in a way. In any case the cruise was very nice. They were lucky to have a nice weather and no sea storm. jennmaybe Posted March 14, 2020 #16 Share Posted March 14, 2020 Not on a cruise now, we are booked for Encore on 4/22, which is after their cancellation time frame, but I received an email yesterday stating they have canceled Kinky Boots for our cruise. They are either expecting to cancel further out, which is what I am absolutely hoping for, or they still want us to cruise and not have any activities on board. Not what we paid for and we will not go if that is the case.
logan25 Posted March 14, 2020 #17 Share Posted March 14, 2020 The Jewel is safe at sea in the South Pacific. Do not yet know where we will port to disembark. Stay tuned.
Nola26 Posted March 20, 2020 #18 Share Posted March 20, 2020 I was on the Getaway that was the last cruise prior to the shutdown/hiatus. Things were pretty normal though the Glow party was canceled and books and games were no longer available for use/loans. Temperture check as part of onboarding, washy washy as you entered the entry deck. As reported no self service in the buffet and notthing left on the tables (condiments, silverware, etc.) they handed you a plate and untensil roll upon entry. I played in the casino and cannot say I saw extra machine cleaning, but perhaps that happened during the nightly shutdown. Plenty of santizer available, no handshakes or hugs and guests seemed up to the challenge of good handwashing habits. I will add that doors to the public restrooms were propped open so no issues with touching door handles there. Officers were quite visible and interactive. They'd run out of sani wipes in the gym (they had them in the weightroom) I ran into an officer in the hallway outside and he addressed it immediately. We are alongside the wharf in Cape Town on the Spirit with all our documentation to debark tomorrow and we have had the same situation as above for our 15 contiguous sea days!!!! Getting a bit tedious even with all the good things going on. The staff/crew have been marvellous as has the company, with I could say the same for the communications from the three senior officers I would have expected to take a leading part in keeping us informed. NCL Miami have not helped them to keep us informed at all. I can see lots of people taking the cash offers rather than FCC and if they have FCC using it as soon as possible and then "abandoning" NCL.
Nola26 Posted March 21, 2020 #20 Share Posted March 21, 2020 We are booked on the Spirit for a September Greece and Turkey cruise. Based on our recent experience we'd go. However given that we'll have international flights and customs I am not sure if we'll go. Final payment is in May. Not sure we'll make that payment. For now we have it held with one cruise next certificate so refund would be easy. We have a great deal with included airfare so it would be nice to take advantage of our deal. I just don't think we'll know enough and NCL cannot guarantee nonstop flights.
