LOL,my old man used to buy his from those blokes at Petticoat Lane who used to chuck whole dinner services across the stall to each other.

Goodness, that takes me back. Used to love the odd Sunday morning up there (or down there). Good entertainment, but we were caught a very long time ago by the old mock auction trick. My only excuse is that we were young and obviously stupid!  £5 it was, but back in 1970 that was a lot of money.

Got it back afterwards though, because my girlfriend (wife now) was a trainee nurse at a local hospital and Eastenders then put nurses on pedestals. He just handed her the fiver back. That was a lesson well learned. If it looks too good to be true……….😉

Oh no Sarah, sorry to hear this. Sounds like you’re getting everything organised though and as you say there’s plenty of help in your party.

You’ve got to go - we’ve been waiting so long to hear how you find your first cruise!

Thanks Sue. Mum’s disappointed she won’t be able to wear some of the clothes she’s bought but relieved that she can still go with us.

I had better like the cruise as I’ve already booked one for next summer too 😂

I'm sure once you are on board you will be booking another cruise for this summer too.

Good morning.

8°C and cloudy here.

I have been to the barber's and had my hair cut.

I hope everyone is safe and well.

Had my haircut today, never left the house though as my wife cuts it, she started to do it during lockdown and done it ever since.

I used to love the apple or banana fritters.

Strange how some words when sung sound entirely different kalos..

Everytime I hear Bonnie Tyler sing 'It's a Heartache' I only hear 'It's a Hard Egg' and 'Message in a Bottle', instead of 'a year has come and gone since I wrote my note'- I'd swear he sings 'a year has come and gone since I broke my nose'🙄

Avril

I always pity Lucille with ‘four hundred (hungry) children and a crop in the field’.

And of course there is Will Young and the deep fry song, it doesn't matter how many times I hear it always sounds like "I think I want to deep fry now"

I know what you mean. No matter how many times I hear Neil Diamond's song, I'm always sure he's singing about the Reverend Blue Jeans.

Quite a wet morning, I suspect  the builder coming to rebuild one of our side path steps may not be coming weather not conducive to repairing concrete.

Getting prepared for our break in Yorkshire next week, grocery delivery to cottage arranged, hopefully weather will be kind as planning a visit to Harlow Carr RHS one day.

Raining this morning and showers for rest of day. I have a dental appointment with the hygienist this morning, IMO worse than fillings etc. This afternoon I was planning to construct and fit a fence panel but not if it is raining. I see Iona is in Alesund again today, the good news is the Geiranger cruise schedule has her calling during the May 21 cruise, first call of the season for Iona and only ship scheduled that day.

Got any £50 notes, if so the paper ones are no longer tender from September so get spending them or send to me to add to my cruise casino bankroll.

If the weather is unkind, The Winter Gardens pub in Harrogate is a splendidly restored building. Well worth visiting, and it would be a shame not to have a pint whilst admiring the architectural features !

We don’t do pubs owned by Wetherspoons, so will give that a miss, plus Harrogate is  3 and a half hour round trip from where we are staying in North Yorkshire.

But Harlow Car RHS is in Harrogate !

It has been a strange day, one minute pouring with rain, the next nice and bright.  My French and Maths teachers came together get their booster vaccines.  I thought that they were really old when they taught an 11 year old me but they are both only in their mid eighties now.

No more "cone of shame" for Teddy and he's enjoying being out and about off the lead again.

I know he isn't a wirey dachshund but give him shorter legs he would be my golden silky wires double. Lovely dog
