The Lake District is our favourite place to visit.

The Laura Ashley Bellsfield hotel at Bowness where we were today is where we took Pauline's cousin and her husband when they came over from Australia for their 40th wedding anniversary and Doreen's 60th birthday in 2019.

We got 2 Lake view rooms which were amazing overlooking Lake Windermere.

The Inn on the Lake at Glenridding on Lake Ullswater where Prince William and Kate visited is amazing.

The Inn on the Square in Keswick is nice with a great location in the centre of Keswick.

Keswick has been crowned Prettiest town in the UK 2021.

Best wishes Sue for your son's wedding and your 35th wedding anniversary.

Graham.

Thank you for the hotel info.  It's always nice to have recommendations from someone who knows the area well

We’re scheduled to sail on Edge August 14.

My issue now is do I continue with the careful life we’ve resumed gradually since being vaccinated between now and the test on the 11th…

We said we will probably work from home week or so before our cruise and maybe wear mask when we go out just to be safe so we don't test positive.  Not going to let us stop doing what we want to do, just will practice safe protocols so we can enjoy life on a ship again.

+1

That's what our in-laws have done.... They're now on their 2nd week of a nice trip to Iceland.

A week before flying out, they stopped seeing family and friends, and practiced social distancing when in stores.

Double masked at the airport.

Just wanted to "get out" again, and a week of "abstinence" seemed a small price to pay.

YMMV 😁

I don’t think so. If we weren’t interested in learning, we would not be active here.

Spent the day competing in the Backyard Olympics with my two year old grand daughter. Swimming, soccer and sprinting. Let's just say that the Canadian women's dominance over the Canadian men in Tokyo continued today in eastern Ontario.

BTW, when did the 10 metre sprint turn into a full contact sport? Granddads need his hot tub tonight. And some Advil!

I loved the TV show but the interior of Southfork in Parker was a major disappointment.  Very small.  Probably just used for exterior shots.  I still remember the yellow and white striped awning in the back.

Bonnie, I feel the same way about "Cheers" in Boston.

No, you’re not- I completed Duolingo in Italian for a family trip to Rome. Unfortunately, it’s not a tremendously long course, so I’m not very good, and I keep switching into French when I have problems!

Below Deck train wreck.

Just watching last week’s episode.  Lexi is a disaster, who needs help.  No one has even noticed that Matt has left the yacht yet. Not sure how Sandi has slept through this. I’d hate to be docked beside them at night.

The final race series of the night is called the King of the Hill. It is a one lap drag race, held with regular people and their own cars.  Another words any of the fans in the audience could have joined in. No one hit the wall this night but it has happened so the track announcer said. It was a blast.  There must have been about 20 entrants to which the winners would continue to move on with a cash prize at the end.

There were Mustangs, Camaros, Cadillacs, Hondas, Volkswagens, pick-ups etc… no mini vans though. All the cars were driven there and are street legal. there was no rubbing and no crashes, but there were a few close calls along the way. At 1:00 in the view the truck served to miss the pit entrance wall.

What an exciting and fun night for you and Owen!!

Lexi is fast becoming my least favorite crew member of all time. Worse than Danny and Rocky, and that says a lot.

I've been told that English is one of the more difficult languages to learn, largely because there are so many exceptions to the grammar rules.  And I much prefer languages like Spanish where vowels always sound the same, i.e. no "hard" and "soft" sound depending on how the vowel is used.  But I've never been able to figure out genders in French and Spanish.  And Italian, being very similar, sounds much the same.  I guess it's just a matter of memorizing which gender for which situation.

Mini rant...I've traveled to Mexico many times on both business and pleasure and have many Mexican friends/previous coworkers.  I enjoy Modelo beer and I especially like having a Negra Modelo with a Mexican meal.  I was disappointed, but not surprised, to see the pronunciation of Modelo Americanized when being marketed in the US.  It's pronounced Mo-Day-Lo, not Mo-Dell-O.  That would probably confuse too many of us, or turn off too many potential consumers who don't like the way that it's pronounced.  End rant.

At one time in my life I was fluent in Spanish,Italian and German.

I've been to Nixon, Reagan, and JFK.  Hard to chose between Reagan and JFK.  I was in my Senior year when JFK was assassinated, so it holds a special place in my memories.  If you are ever in Boston, try to make it to the JFK.

I had a cousin by marriage who was in the Kennedy family,a cousin of JFK .In my opinion the assassination holds a special place in the memories of every living person at the time.I remember exactly where I was when I heard of the shooting.

Went to our first concert in a long (!) time last night.  It was held at the Jones Beach outdoor amphitheater, Long Island, New York.  For those not familiar with it, it is a beautiful spot. You are right near the ocean and as you face the stage, you see a bay on both sides. The temperature was perfect with a soft breeze.

We enjoyed a little tailgating before the concert. 🍺 🍷

It was a country concert with the main act being Lady A. There were three acts before them.

Very close to the Jones Beach Theater there is an Italian Restaurant where before the pandemic on a Saturday night there would be hundreds of people waiting to go in ,not necessarily because of the food but rather because many of the singers would be there pre and post concert.

The theater has had great concerts over the years .

You had a beautiful night for a concert.  We were in this area a couple years ago for an air show and stayed for a long weekend to visit the nautical mile area.  The restaurants we tried while there were all good.  Hope to go back again someday, but maybe when off season.

We used to go to dinner on the Nautical Mile every weekend in the Spring and Summer months .We have several restaurants that we loved to dine it.Pre pandemic they had a ship that was a floating casino and at one time there were boats that would take people to other parts of NY.

We have done stockyards with them in past, since we will be 100 outside they have been in pool all morning, will stop for a appetizer by Toyota music center in Las Colinas , lots of cool bars and restaurants there. Table13 for dinner tonight.

I love the light mist of water on certain streets that you walk thru during hot weather at the stockyards.

Some of my friends and I went to the Bat Mitzvah of a friend who was in her 60’s.
She worked really hard along with a few young ladies. She did it because she promised her father back when she was a young woman.
We were so proud of her!

When you go thru that as an adult it's truly special because it's what the celebrant wanted for special reasons.  How heartwarming and I am sure a sense of achievement that she honored the promise she made to her father many years ago.  You all have a right to be proud of your friend.
