I've only been there twice - once for breakfast & once for lunch. Enjoyed it both times. Not sure why I did not go more often. I remember when they used to print their entire menu in the local "Sandpiper" newspaper. Maybe it was because it's always crowded when I was there, typically around Labor Day weekend.

And it got more crowded after it was featured on "Man vs Food".

It gets really crowded after bars close in the summer.     We have done that a couple of times and the young crowd was just too drunk and annoying for us at 3 am.

Yes, it does get very crowded in the summer.   It was nice they added the outdoor seating of several tables in the front.   that really helped this summer

Last night Sharon was at a stop light when a car tried to beat the light by turning into the road she was on.  A car coming from the other direction hit the car and pushed it into Sharon. The hit caused the steering wheel to spin real fast and it hurt Sharon’s hand pretty good.  It’s feeling better today.  We have an advantage of living in a small town for 25 years.  One of best friends is a doctor and came to the scene to check on her.  Also Sharon was on the phone with our Orthopedic Dr. asst. and shortly there after we were talking to the owner of the body shop.  Good neighbors taking care of us.  While typing this the Orthopedic friend called to check up on her and set up an appointment for tomorrow.

Sorry to hear this happened to Sharon but Great to hear she is mostly Ok and that everyone is there to help everyone!

Thank god Kenzie wasn't driving😇

I had horrible vestibular side effects from the 2nd moderna. Sickest I’ve ever been.  If I get the same from a booster I’m done with COVID vaccines. I’d rather take my chances than go through the same thing again. Maybe should try Pfizer this time.

I had horrific side effects from the second Pfizer shot.I feel the way you do with Moderna except that my best friend died from Covid and from his wife’s description of what he went through I will take my chances with vaccinations.

I don't want to clutter the thread with my videos, just made a test to see if I can upload directly from my IPhone, since yesterday, when I've tried through my computer, it was "too heavy".

I assume some of you will be able to see it. I can see it on my Iphone....

The reception in the garden, before the wedding ceremony.

I debated mentioning the following but this thread does make it easy to open up.

She's adopted since she was just a few days old AND she really does have Jack's good looks and my brain, sometimes!.   Good guess on Dani's part!

When she was little, a toddler, she loved to hear the story of when we brought her home from out of state on a plane.  She was 5 days old on her first plane ride!  She also loves when I tell her not only did I carry her in my heart before she was born but that a part of her will always remain there.  Our car service driver was told we would be coming back with an infant and to bring us home in style, he picked us up in a very long white stretch limo.  Like true rock stars.  Oh the looks we got!

I have friends that don't know she's adopted. It isn't a secret, just never came up in any discussion.

I debated awhile until I decided to click Submit Reply to this post........................

NO NO NO SNAKE PICTURES!!!🥺😨😱.

Lake pictures, beach pictures, grandkids pictures, food porn picture, YES.

Hope your granddaughter feels better soon. Hope her throat isn't too painful.

Don't show her the snake picture, she might scream and hurt her throat!

Thank you so much!

Thank you for adopting a child. I think it’s wonderful when people do that and they have such love in their hearts. ❤️

Yikes!  Thank god for good neighbors and thankfully it was "just" her hand that was hurt & the airbags were not set off.

Yesterday, I was at a stop light and a car next to me in the left turn only lane. As soon as the light turned green, he drove straight ahead and almost hit me as he had to swerve to avoid on-coming traffic. I'm not sure if he changed his mind at the last second about turning or if he was trying to cut ahead of me & and a long line of traffic in a very busy downtown but all he had to do was toot his horn and signal to me that he wanted to go straight & I would have let him. As it turns out, I was behind him for the next 10 minutes so it's not like he cut off a lot of time to his destination.

This weekend I had a guy with a Louisiana license plate turn right from the left lane as I was turning right - he almost got me.    Glad he was ahead of me because I watched him drive like an idiot down the length of LBI boulevard till he turned off to go over the causeway - I waved goodbye and said please don't come back to the island😇

Sue, pls. see post #35941.  @Ozark_Kid managed to restore the video to life 😁

I've tried to copy and paste it here, didn't work.....

Yes I saw John's post, it looks like a lovely venue. How great to be able to have outdoor spaces as well.  In our family wedding in August the grounds were beautiful but the weather was too cool and showery to enjoy the outside to its full extent

Curious, is it customary for the brides family to pay for the wedding venue and meals for guests in Israel?

No. It is usually done "fifty-fifty"....

BUT, suppose one of the parties wants a big and costly wedding, and the other party doesn't have the means for it, or one party has 20% and the other 80% of the guests, an "agreement" is reached, proportionate mainly.

The first 2 weddings we've been to -- the couples were well into their thirties, and they paid for the wedding, with the parents adding symbolic gestures, like the bride's dress or groom's suit.

Our married son has done the same, and they broke even (+ 2000$).

Thank you.     I love going to weddings but also know they are very costly here in the US and I always think it is really necessary to spend $50,000 to $100,000 on a wedding that lasts just a couple of hours and what the young couples could do with that money - like buy their first house, etc.

So happy when I heard our Son and his Fiance decided they do Not want a big wedding at all.    They want just a small simple day with immediate family and friends - probably 25 to 30 people at most.    I suggested they get married on a cruise ship or a caribbean island.   My brother and his wife got married in St Lucia then came home and had a reception in their back yard.

I agree with you. We didn't have any money, so we got married in a Synagogue, 2 hours at the most.

But here people bank on being able to cover their expenses, since every one invites every one, and a list of how much was given is kept.....

I've checked with my son how much the neighbors gave him for his wedding almost 6 years ago, and we added a third to the sum.... inflation, expensive venue, etc.

There is also an application where you fill all the data relating the wedding, and it gives u an estimate how much to write on the cheque....

Yes, we have a list from our wedding on gift funds we received too.  It is stored with all other wedding memorabilia.

Our wedding was about 120 people - which was more than we wanted but once my Mother got started on the list and saying we "have to invite so and so" .

I would have been happy with a simple beach wedding with just immediate family and close friends.

Thank God Sharon is safe.  How is she feeling?  Is her hand okay?

Our Orthopedic friend called this morning.  Today was a surgery day and told her to pick a time to come in tomorrow.  We will get it checked out at 10am. When she woke up this morning she said it was about a 4.  This afternoon it’s been between 7 and 8.
What will get to her soon is not being able to get things done.  She planned to go pick her mom up in Alabama spend a couple days then bring her here for a couple weeks.  She is trying to help her mom get some baby quilts finished.  Sharon’s mom has 21 grandkids and at least 50 great grandchildren.  That was number when Sharon’s dad passed away two years ago.  There has been a few since then.  Hard to keep up.  Surely is a blessing.

Keep hearing on the news that nor'easter, possibly 2 of them, will be hitting us this week.   Possible bomb cyclones.       One starting this evening saying wind gusts of 60 to 80 mph.    Generator is already to go, if needed.    Hopefully it won't be as bad as they saying it could be.     Good luck to everyone in the area.

Oh. We had a bomb cyclone here over the weekend. :classic_biggrin: It sounds scarier than they actually are. But a lot of trees fell over, some flooding and a lot of rain. That's okay. We can use the rain. :classic_biggrin::classic_smile:

Being the dad of three lovely daughters I totally understand the cost of weddings.  We offered alternative but they wanted traditional weddings.  One thing that helped us out is that Sharon’s sisters get after it when putting a wedding together.  I found the best thing for a dad is to take a step back and try not to add up the cost.
