Royal Caribbean Cruisers -- How Are Things Where You Are? (was "Routine" 😁 day in lockdown... how was yours?)

He's the only doctor that I cared about when changing health insurance plans.  If he wasn't in-network I would never have switched.

I started doing the on-boarding paperwork for my new ER job today.

I found out what health insurance plan they offer, and I'm eligible for it beginning May 1st.  So I started looking for providers that are available in my area, afraid that the choices might be pretty limited.  The corporation that owns the hospital now is actually based in northern Indiana, and I'm two counties up from the state line, so I figured that I might have trouble finding "in network" providers.

So I started searching.... and the chiropractor that I've used since I was pregnant with my son is in the network!  Search some more, and the certified nurse midwife that I used during my pregnancy and for "female appointments" afterward (but had to switch away from when I worked for the other hospital because the two companies are like the Hatfields and McCoys when it comes to accepting each others' insurance) is also in the network!  I can't believe my luck at this point!

Now the hard part -- finding a general practitioner / family doctor / internal medicine doctor / primary care provider that I can get along with.  No offense to our beloved @Ocean Boy, but most doctors seem to have a problem with "God complex syndrome" where they think it's their job to TELL you what to do, instead of DISCUSSING your healthcare with you as a partner in your health.  I had a great PCP back in the day, but had to switch from him when I switched to my first hospital's insurance plan, and I haven't found a good replacement.  So I'm searching and searching and searching.... AND THERE HE IS!  My old doctor accepts this new insurance, too!

The cherry on top is my orthopedic surgeon is also in the new network.  The only doctor I didn't get to return to is my old gastroenterologist, and that's not such a big deal because I only ever saw her a couple of times.  If I can get back into my old PCP's practice (here's hoping he doesn't consider me a "new patient"!), he acknowledged that I know way more about my GI disease than he possibly could, and he let me just tell him when I needed imaging done and he wrote the orders for me.  I only saw the gastroenterologist when I needed an endoscopy, and I've been managing fine without one for ages now.

So, good things happen in threes, and that's my three:  I found my birthfather (I meet him Monday night!), I got this new job, and my new insurance will reunite me with healthcare providers I know and trust.

I'm sorry I haven't posted any good pics.  Cruising with the kids is a lot different than just Eric and I.    We have been busy and enjoying everything.

Food in MDR and Chops last night was Excellent.   We have all been very happy with all our meals.

Tomorrow we go to Jamie's for lunch for  Eric's BD.

He hit for over $2k in the casino plus a nice list of free cruises was given to both of us.

The list of freebies is 12 pages long with some summer Alaska, Hawaii, Europe/Med sailings as well as some TA crossings for the fall.   Tough to choice since I no longer can work remotely.  We have 30 days to decide.

Wow as someone who has only set foot in the casino to be on the way to somewhere else, your wins are amazing Glad you are all having a great time & now you can  have fun picking your freebies 🛳️

Thanks, Bonnie, not so well. Yesterday he started trying his 3rd pain med, with no improvement. His blood work is OK, including the one checking the possibility of MM.

We're quite "in the air", since our family doctor is on holiday, even though he promised that DH may contact him via Maccabi's site [Maccabi is our health provider]. What he forgot to mention is that there is a limit of 5 messages per quarter, and we reached it very easily...

I went to Maccabi's offices yesterday, asking to extend the limit, given that the dr is out until April 16, and we cannot make an appointment with another dr, since we "belong" to this one until March 31,which falls on Shabbat. Moreover, in order to switch drs, we have to give Maccabi another name, and the good ones do not receive new patients.

The manager, more or less, let me understand that we're f  ed [as if I didn't know it...] since there's nothing she can do, the dr being an "independent" dr, not Macabbi's one...

A real mess.

This is awful. I can't believe there is no doctor who is allowed to help you for the next two weeks! I am so sorry you and DH are going through this.

Sorry, It is quite a common thing around here, but sometimes I forget how truelly world wide this group is.  I should have specified, Maple Syrup 🍁 production.   We collect sap and then boil it down.  It takes 40 to 45 gallons of sap to evaporate it down to get 1 gallon of maple Syrup.

dp

Is there a particular kind of maple tree to make the syrup?

Almost the same weather here. The snow is melting with the rain though. I like that.

75 here today with a risk of tornados, it must be spring.  We are going to the lake house tonight, tomorrow upper 60s and upper 70s on Sunday.  Might go for a boat ride.

@Sea Dog Greg, I'm sure you have seen the news of the storms rolling our way.  The last I've seen we are both supposed to get hit pretty hard.  As I am typing this I hear thunder in the distance.   Stay safe.  I think I need to go charge up my phone before it hits.

Stay safe, John, Greg, and anyone else who could be affected by the storms

Most Maples will produce sap that has sugar in it.  The concentration is highest in "Sugar Maples" between 2 and 3% depending on time of the season and other factors.  Red maples and other species still produce but less concentration, thus requires more evaporation.  They all have a slightly different flavor profile, so different areas will have slightly different flavor depending on ratio of different species in the mix.

We are just a small backyard 3 family operation.  We have about 300 trees tapped.  Last year we produced about 28 gallons of finished syrup.  To get that, we had to collect, carry, filter and evaporate almost 1300 gallons of sap.

We don't sell any syrup, this is purely for fun.  We meet our neighbours during spring at the shack more that any other tome of year.

This is our sugar shack out in the woods.

Continue to enjoy everything with calm seas and sunny skies.

Oh no, what did I miss?   I have some catching up to do.   I hope you are Ok?

I'm fine, thanks for asking.  I was worried about the elevated results of my kidney lab work last week.  I'm in remission for kidney disease that I battled in 2015.  Results scared me but my doctor assured me it's under control and my kidney function is nowhere near what it was years ago.  I am relieved.

Jack and I were fortunate that the only doctor not in network for our new insurance is our Podiatrist.  That is one doctor that we can switch without any problem.

I hope your good luck continues!

We will be in New York City Memorial Day weekend, we always book that weekend, but because of Covid and then Covid restrictions we haven’t done it last few years . My brother and his wife and my niece will also be there  . We really like this hotel never even look at any others.

Thankful to hear all the great news coming your way.  You must be on cloud 10 or 11. 😆 I have been though those things like new insurance etc.  Can be challenging.   Just stay healthy and then all will go well.  🤔
