Thought about starting a thread on asking people to explain how they came up with their CC names.

Ours Grapau27.

First 3 letters of our names and my birthday date number.

Graham & Pauline.

"Negreanu" is my maiden name, which I had to give up upon marriage. Being an only child, I like to see it and be reminded of my childhood.

Actually, my father changed to "Negreanu" from a very Jewish name, envisaging, sagely, anti-semitic "trouble".... Whenever he had the possibility, he switched 1st his family name (Schmil), and then his given name (Yitzik). Anti-semitic jokes always started with: "When Schmil and Yitzik met"....

I'll be forever grateful for his foreseeing, saving me lots of trouble in Communist Romania.

I had bought a maytag washer in 2019 and in 2020 that washer died.

I have no doubt. One of the repair guys from the appliance store that we've been dealing with forever was over one time to do some minor repairs on the Maytag washer.

1972, I was working as a student in a secretarial pool, and got assigned to a Professor who just returned from a prolonged Sabbatical at Stanford. If you were spending 2+ years abroad, you could come back to Israel with tax-free household appliances. Huge savings.

I heard him talking about his Maytag washing machine, and commented that I've never heard of this brand name in Israel. Asked him how did he took the risk of buying a washing machine which obviously will not get serviced here....

He replied that, before returning home, he asked around about the best serviced appliances.

He was told to buy Maytag -- no NEED for service... 😉

In addition to the KitchenAid dishwasher that I mentioned, we're also considering a Miele dishwasher.  I was not familiar with the Miele brand until we looked for canister vacuum cleaners.  The Miele brand is a bit more expensive but has the reputation of lasting a long time rather than the typical 10 year fail cycle that I agree is built into most appliances these days.  German engineering.  Love the vacuum cleaner.

Never had one of those either..actually never heard of that brand.

My Dad was from a broken home, bounced around to different relatives since he was a bit of a “problem adolescent”.  At age 15, he altered his birth certificate and joined the Army.  He was eventually discovered and discharged, but had found his calling.  He waited until he was officially 18 and enlisted again,  then served 25 years, including stints in the Korean War and as a Special Forces Green Beret in Vietnam. He never went beyond 8th grade, but retired as a Major.  Can you tell I’m proud?

What a great story...thanks for sharing.  Sounds like your Dad was a keeper.  🙂

My screen name...kind of obvious...but really doesn't apply to me any longer.

When I first joined CC in 2003, I was still living on Merritt Island.  Hence the name,..... being an "islander".  Then I moved out here to "the swamp" in 2015.

Could change it, but I am not sure anyone would know me as "Swamp Lady".  🤭

Appears I'm not clever and  have no immigration. 😶

I made Laura into LaLa 3 years before she embraced it as her grandmother name.

It was the nickname of her namesake aunt.

My grandfather name is Grumpy. Go figure.

Wonderful photos Graham. Thank you so much for sharing.

Thank you vettprincess.

We were due to sail from Barbados around the Caribbean then Transatlantic back to Southampton on Azura in March 2020 but it was cancelled 5 days before we flew out to Barbados due to covid19.

Graham.

Same here

At least you didn't have to throw a number at the end of yours. Usually there are 2 or 3 people with similar initials whenever I register on a site that requires a user id so I just automatically use 4.  Which happens to be my lucky number at the roulette table. I should say the casino's lucky number, it rarely hits for me. That's not a complaint, just an observation 🙂

Wow, thanks for sharing on what those letters on your name mean.  That's a real tough one to figure out.

Thought about starting a thread on asking people to explain how they came up with their CC names.

Mine is pretty obvious.  I use this and one other handle (rusty_lock) depending on the site for everything. Two passwords depending on the level of security I want. 🙂
