cancelled cruise and VIFP days

Recommended Posts

I think they might check and see. I know in the past if a cruise was shortened you still get credited for the days missed. I had a cruise on the Carnival Liberty that was cut back from a 6 day to a 4 day cruise. Per my VIFP account I was still credited with 6 days.

i agree. my cruise on the legend in may would of made me platinum 😞  ...now i need to wait for my future cruises

Me too. I was to turn platinum on our canceled Sunshine cruise March 30th.  We rescheduled for the Breeze August 29th.  Fingers crossed. 🤞

Sure would be nice! DH and I are 19 days away from Diamond. Had all my cruises booked so that we’d make it in January 2021. Our 7 day Breeze for March 21 was cancelled, rebooked for May 12 same ship/itinerary and it was cancelled. Now booked for July 4 same ship/itinerary. That will likely be cancelled too. I’ll just keep on booking, but I’d love to get the days credited.

While I would love for this to happen, I do not think it will.  People would be "jumping up" vifp levels without actually sailing, leading to an overload of people on each level.  The Platinum/Diamond vifp parties are already jammed!  I would rather not get credited with days not sailed, rather than have CCL possibly change the vifp levels to make it harder to reach each level.   I am only 14 days away from Diamond, and would have reached it by December had not all this happened.

Hi

I'm sorry, but are you folks really serious?

People are questionning whether this industy (not just the company) will survive this epidemic. Even with additional massive loans it's won't be clear for some time, and we are talking here about getting free laundry one cruise sooner. Please tell me that I am misunderstanding what I am reading.

Wouldn't it be nice if the days we lost from a cancelled cruise still counted toward days at sea?

In this crisis most people are getting their money back but years ago I had to cancel a cruise and Carnival kept all of my money with NO VIFP days!

Is Breeze same length as Sunshine? You will still turn platinum on Breeze if it is. You get plat benefits from the beginning if turning during.

Why? You didn’t sail.

Why not? They handed out $200 for not cancelling and $600 for rebooking....I would have traded that for my days

More importantly, telling Carnival is more useful than just posting here

You will board your next cruise as a Platinum Member. Congratulations.

I am so excited.  It was going to be May 31 but now September 26. 🙂

You do realize that it is really not costing them the true amount they are giving. OBC is the easiest way for them to make more money.

That's because the company had very minimal cash flow and needs money available somehow to refund others. They also would prefer to offer an unusually high incentive that will go to waste for many people unable to travel in the future in order to keep access to those deposits. For the incentive of not cancelling, it's $200 to you based on perception but most will spend it on alcohol which is actually pennies on the dollar to them (unless you do the casino trick, it's not at face value). They make a lot of revenue onboard and for a company that was saying it is safe to cruise and doing everything to suspend operations until they were "suggested" to do so because their ships are still running (a ship is like a small city), they need to capture every dollar possible to pay for labor and other expenses.

The loyalty points are meaningless as it's a lifetime status. There isn't any annual requalification like hotels or airlines. The same consideration should not be given to the cruise lines as the airlines and hotels provided with status extensions. They either refunded your money or provided a credit at your request.
