End of Self Assist Disembarkaton?

Just to add another what's gonna happen,  I wonder how self assist disembarkation will be handled or if it will still be offered.  No social distancing there.

Like every business does, they'll put "X" on the floor 6ft apart on the typical disembarkation paths which passengers will quickly ignore.

Seems to me that self assist helps keep people apart, since there's a bag in between people.

 

It's a possible improvement by keeping people apart vs. no bags.

I like suites first.  Makes it easier to book that suite knowing we can get off first.

at 9:30 there is even more of a crowd so I don't think the issue is just self debarkation

Never have waited that long to get off. Boss always in a hurry to get home or to the airport.

We have a 25 hour drive ahead of us so we are never in a rush.

I'm with your boss.  When it's over it's over.  Dan would be very happy if they did away with self assist.  I don't think it existed back when we first started cruising.

self assist saves them $$$ they handle fewer bags, if they could figure out an easy way for us to bring our bags onboard they would.

I guess we are lucky. We are within an hour to four hours depending on traffic to Florida Ports. Canaveral, Tampa, Everglades, Miami. We are 15 minutes to Daytona Beach Airport and just over an hour to Orlando. Typically, when we go to Miami, we drive in the day before. My son works in Miami so we generally meet up and go out to eat. Much different on disembarkation. It’s a race to the car to get home. Lol

I am in no hurry to leave either - breakfast first, then a stroll around the upper deck and by the time I'm ready - the lines are mostly gone.

They could have several muster drills.  Just assign a time and note it on the card.  Hey,🙂 they might even be able to do them inside; perhaps in the theater with spaced seating and no one would need to stand outside in the sweltering heat.

I agree, that is why we use a cart in the supermarket for just one or two items.

I think Self-Assist will be promoted more because it has people’s luggage in fewer hands. More spacing will be needed, though, to ensure social distancing. Maybe a certain number per 30 minute time slot?

One more reason for me not to cruise for a while . 

Why bother with all the perceived restrictions .

I will wait years for this to get sorted out .

I'm wondering if they will simply close all or some of the public bathrooms to force passengers to go back to their cabins when needed.  (which is what we do most of the time, anyway)  

 

There are probably regulations about having public restrooms, minimum needed for X number of passengers, locations near restaurants, etc ??
