You pontificate about "facts," but yours are all wrong!  A mask protects YOU, not me.  I am not protected if I wear one.  I am protected if you wear one.

Please get your facts straight before posting and possibly leading others to be part of the problem.

Trolls...don't feed them.  😉

Yeah, lucky me.  I booked first class round trip Delta to Alaska and back over a year ago.  Should have saved the money and booked coach for same service!  😮

At least there will be more space in first class and less passengers than in coach.

Time to stop in the duty free shops at the air port and buy a bottle of wine or bottle of crown royal to bring on the plane and enjoy it during the flight. 🍷🥃😉

Excellent graph...amazing how many people think that wearing a mask will keep THEM safe.  It's indeed actually requested to keep others safe from carriers.  (keep infected carrier's spittle, sneezing, and coughing contained).

Well, at least I know I'm going from high to moderately-high risk when I wear my mask around other non-mask wearing inconsiderate people.  A small improvement.

OK, I've lurked here and been a member for years and rarely feel compelled to respond to any threads, but, here goes:

In reading the mask debates on all the cruise line forums I frequently cruise with, I have come to the conclusion that I would be willing to go on my cruise in 2020 if a mask is required because all the "no-maskers" say they will not cruise if they have to wear a mask.  I have no issues wearing a mask anywhere whether required or voluntary.  I feel it is my responsibility to my fellow humans to NOT potentially spread around a deadly virus that I might or might not have.  Also, "rights" have nothing to do with anything--I don't think anyone has the right to endanger others' lives by possibly spreading around COVID-19 when it is possible they could be asymptomatic or pre-symptomatic.

Private businesses (including cruise lines) have the right to require masks or any other safety precaution they feel is necessary, and I think it is the same as the "No shoes, No shirt, [No mask], No service" kind of thing that we are all used to abiding by.  As someone said uptopic somewhere (or maybe even on another forum--can't remember now)--it's RCCL's business venture, RCCL's liability, RCCL's rules.  I also think the mask requirement is necessary and will only be temporary, and that there is a simple solution for anyone who does not wish to wear a mask on a cruise--don't go and wait until the pandemic is truly over (or there is a vaccine) and masks are no longer required.  I, for one, will gladly wear a mask on my back-to-back-to-back cruises in November/December 2020 if required.  If those who refuse to wear a mask are not there, then that is one less worry for those of us who have no problem with masks.  I also will cancel my cruises if the pandemic is still raging at the end of 2020, or if RCCL's safety procedures don't meet my personal safety expectations. Period.  My choice.

Just my 2 cents worth.  I'm sure I'll be labeled a troll since I only have a couple of posts during the last 5 or 6 years, but so be it.

And the cruise addicts can't wait to go with a mask and say it over and over again.

Folks wearing masks are complying with the recommended safety action...not any kind of "event" as you portrayed it.

They are working to help resolve things.  Part of a solution over time.

On the other hand - non-mask-wearers boast about it regularly as a "badge of honor" or similar.

They are working to accomplish nothing and simply self-gratify. Helps no one.

That would probably only happen if you said something way out there - what you said has already been said by many, in this, and many other mask related threads.

I don't think I like those odds...unless you are playing the gaming tables.   Here is a better solution:

The Venetian hotel and casino in Las Vegas is doing the same thing. Upon check-in, you'll receive a packet with 2 masks, a 2oz bottle of hand sanitizer and gloves. Every day, housekeeping will give you a new packet.

No harm in re-stating something that makes a helluva lot of sense, either.

Peggy if you are say 10 feet away from a full COVID19 person and they do not cough or sneeze... I think your chances of catching the coronavirus is virtually nil.  Whether you or they are wearing a mask or not. It appears the infection is spread that way, and  the mask Is really a help when they are actively spewing the virus into the air.  No spewing doesnt matter.  Spewing O crap... I need a hazmat suit.  When spewing is not happening, don’t kiss or have sex with the person and the odds are you will be fine.

jmho and ymmv and I am not a doctor... but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express in the last 20 years.

Just by breathing they will send virus into the air, cough or no cough. They’ve already stated it stays in the air for up to 8 minutes. Granted, it will not travel as far but it will still be there. So anyone that has walked in their path is, per my understanding, capable or at risk of being infected by them.

They actualy had a news article on tv where I live with a scientific study that showed how far the particles spread and how long they stay in the air dependent on strength of breath. They actually showed the demonstration too, it wasn’t just a verbal article.

I have been reading where Sweden who didnt lock down is so horrible, then I went to the actual statistics and lots of countries still locked down were worse.  The news, what are you going to believe, apparently everything you read.

To believe or not to believe that is the question 😉

Common sense dictates that if people take preventative measures...it can only help - if they do nothing, it accomplishes nothing.

Yet some of the same "I'm not wearing a mask" contrarians also conveniently avoid medical and statistical facts that say the very same thing...they refuse to give in to reason.

There are numerous studies and tests that have been done to validate all this, yet some folks just consciously and defiantly remain in denial. Just one example...

https://reason.com/2020/06/10/wearing-masks-is-an-effective-way-to-control-the-covid-19-pandemic-says-new-study/?fbclid=IwAR1lgHS8INwGHEtsier7jz4Ob-Byr7UrP232cfl3cx8vSRtsVjD7g5VzOQs

Once cruising opens up again in the near future...people can make their own choices on wearing masks off a ship...but on board...rest assured...there will likely be little tolerance for violations....from the cruise lines or other passengers.

Repeating your lines over and over doesn't make them right, nor does it make them equal "common sense".

Enjoy your cruise with the mask, I just choose not to cruise with one. If I can, I will, and if not I will do something else.

Right now, around here, if a business tries to require a mask....we won't go. Masking around here is waning. Still see some sheep here and there.

Repeating the facts repeats the facts. If people have egos preventing them from accepting reality and doing the right thing...they can certainly choose another place to invade the space of others senselessly as you elude to.

By the way...despite a mandatory mask requirement...the Home Depots around here - many of them - have plenty of people going there and long lines to get in...so many people smartly do the right thing. The only sheep are those who ignore the facts and arrogantly and irresponsibly choose to defy reason.

Looks like those folks won't be cruising again...and the other (conforming) passengers will be all the better for it.
