Rare RCCL Fan Posted March 24, 2021 #1 Share Posted March 24, 2021 So, Adventure will do two back to back days at coco cay. I'm a bit curious though... it says we depart at 5pm Day 2, and then arrive back at 8am on Day 3. I know everything's up in the air in this sailing..... but anyone hear anything about whether we'll stay docked, sail in circles? It's their island.... i would think port charges wouldn't apply. but I imagine staffing on the island does. I know Mariner does some 2-day stops but I don't think they're back to back. Jimbo Posted March 24, 2021 #2 Share Posted March 24, 2021 Have to move away from the island to open up the casino...........they will sail away from the island and then back the next day. 1

Royal use to do 5nites Bahama Cruises out of Florida, 2 days just putting along at 3nts away from shore. One nite woke at 3am, ship at standstill rocking side to side as waves went out/back against side. Was on Deck 2 weird to see and experience as Full Moon and clear sky Edited March 25, 2021 by ONECRUISER
Rare death_star Posted March 25, 2021 #4 Share Posted March 25, 2021 I believe they can only make water and do waste disposal at sea as well. There are no connections for the ship on the island so it is best to go back out to sea. Ship personnel make up a decent chunk of staffing on island so I'm sure that plays a role as well. Rare twangster Posted April 1, 2021 #9 Share Posted April 1, 2021 I think we all have our interest piqued. For a late Nassau stay they were allowed to open the casino once land based casinos were closed. That was a few years ago, unsure if that arrangement remains. It may be their private island but my understanding is they still pay a landing fee to the Bahamian government. Same with Labadee, there is a per head charge paid to the government. We'll all know in a couple months.

I have stayed docked for two days often on a ship. But the island is more unique because it's not just a city where you can come and go all day, but an island staffed by the same people on the ship. So, it could be an issue that they don't want to monitor people all night long on the beach or have the kind of staff to both have entertainment on the island, and on the ship at the same time. Not always, did a Nassau overnight on Empress in 2018-the casino only opened late in the evening of the first day, maybe 10:00 and closed before breakfast of the second day; and remained closed until we left the second afternoon. Quite perceptive! I had forgotten about that. Also so ship's shops can open also i think.

And they may not have sufficient lighting for safety of guests at various areas during the night. And the safety concern of night swimmers and snorkelers maybe another reason. Would be impossible to stop people from getting in the water.

Assuming that the shops and casino can open, the ship could stay docked but require all passengers to be onboard after a certain time. They know if someone doesn't comply.
