I did read yesterday that the Dominican Republic had dropped a lot of their requirements for COVID tests and such and will be doing random checks on visitors.

that’s one of the wild cards still for me is whether a ship will be allowed to stop at the ports that I like.

my fear is either the ports will turn ships away or I will have to go to ports that I truly do not prefer to go

I'm not sure why any ports would turn away ships if passengers took a covid test before boarding the ship and it was negative.  Right now, you can fly into areas with proof of negative covid test.  Travel by cruise ship isn't more risky than travel by airline where people are forced to sit in very close contact with people for hours on end.

The CDC makes no sense to me.  Airline travel, without any covid testing, has been going on this entire time and that is one of the riskiest situations.  Then again, a lot of the rules over the past year have been nonsense, which is why people are getting tired of hypocritical politicians and others, who demand one thing from the little people, yet do as they please.  A negative covid test upon boarding a ship should be all that the ports require since it's the requirement for air travel.  Having a ship full of vaccinated passengers is just icing on the cake for these ports.

Although it may only take 1 infected pax to start a superspreader event in any port, I'd have to imagine they're willing to welcome ships with such a high rate of vaccinated pax. Turning away ships before the shutdown was more of a fear of the unknown. You'd have to think many of the ports will welcome the money we spend there. For ports that rely so heavily on tourism, those we have contact with are basically essential workers; essential to the economic health?

Hope you have the actual Super Bowl Sunday if that’s what you want. They are adding a week to the season and I heard they were pushing the super bowl back a week. Which could put me cruising on super bowl Sunday in 2023 when I was purposely trying to avoid it.

We plan on going in Feb 2022..  with the OBC from our last Super Bowl cruise was canceled; we re'd comp I couldn't turned down..

I really appreciated all the feedback..

and respect anyone opinion.  Thank you

Really miss my cruises;  we had to book asap since CCL canceled us we took the $600 OBC, then booking we got $200;  my CCL shares (got cheap) $100 and free drinks in casino

Even being vax one can still get Covid.  (happened to my DB who wears the best PPE)

Just hoping we do cruise..  we did managed to go to Aruba in Sept 2020 and had to show a negative result (72 hr) PCR prior to flying.

Had strict protocols and curfews;  however it was the best time ever.

Now they are requiring to be tested prior to arriving to Aruba and 3 days exiting; as well as "their Covid" insurance .

As long as you’re booked for Feb 13th you’re good. Under the old schedule it would’ve been the 6th.

I booked a 2023 hoping it lands on championship playoff weekend again (it was so fun last time). Hope this change doesn't effect playoff schedule.

Yeah I think if you booked the weekend of the afc/nfc championship games…it’ll actually be the divisional playoff week.

Durn it! On the bright side there will still be playoffs but I was banking on the much more exciting championship weekend. Guess I'll have to wait and see but it doesn't seem like it would happen if the pushed super bowl. Why wouldn't you want to go on a super bowl cruise? Rather go to a party instead or too much crazy? I seen a video of a super bowl cruise that made me never want to book one either 😅.  Wondering if you've seen it also and are trying to avoid it also lol.

I have a regular super bowl get together I attend every year. And in the unlikely event my team makes it, there’s no way I want to be on a ship for that. Normally I book for 2-3 weeks after the super bowl so I would be safe but I had to do the week after this time to get the St. Maarten, St. Kitts, San Juan, Grand Turk itinerary I wanted.

We are not vaccinated and don't plan to be.  We  have been going out and about since mid summer, 2020.  We have gone to Disney and Sea World numerous times and there was no vaccine in the beginning and still no requirement.  We have been going out to eat at inside venues for months as well.

People get vaccinated to protect themselves and not their families, friends or neighbors.

Vaccinated people can still get Covid but it should be milder.

Vaccinated people can still transmit the virus to others.

If people believe that the vaccines work, there should be no fear about being in close contact with non-vaccinated people.

As far as Caribbean cruises go, we don't care if we even had to stay on the ship.  European cruises, for us, would be different since those cruises are more about the ports than the ship.

We've never had the flu shot and haven't had the flu in several decades.    Covid will be with us forever just like the flu.

I know I won't change the minds of those who want the vaccine , and people that take the vaccine won't change my mind either.  I think that everyone that wants the vaccine should be able to get it, just don't tell me what vaccines I have to get.

We have had 8 cruises cancelled so far and have one the end of this year and 7 for next year.  We are very ready to sail and hope to be on a ship soon.

Many have gotten vaccinated so they can visit their families

Most won't.

Thousands of fully vaccinated people have still been infected, and hundreds have died. There is reason to avoid contacting non-vaccinated people that has nothing to do with fear

Unless Carnival or MSC decide to have some of their fleet go with the test cruise route, you will then have to be one of the lucky 5% of the unvaccinated to make the cut.  And you will be battling for one of those spots with all of the unvaccinated 11 & unders.  Hopefully you'll make the 5% cut on some of the 8 cruises you have booked.  But if you don't,  all you need to do is look into the mirror as to whom to blame.

So it appears that the letters of CDC represents the words of

“Can’t Do Cruises”

Nope. Cruise lines make a choice. Sail vaccinated or not. Vaccinated way is easier and safer. Cruise lines know what is best for their restart success.

Also have to abide by the laws of the state where the cruise departs. Florida sayS no vaccine cert. Texas says no vaccine cert. if business ever receive taxpayer funds for anything (e.g. Port of Galveston). Both flies in the ointment.

Federal law overrules any state level laws or executive orders. States do not have the power to interfere in international travel.

That’s not the CDC making the call, which is the post I was responding to. Florida and Texas can claim no vaccine requirement but the legality of that claim will be tested. That will just delay things further. Good call on their part 🙄

So the cruise lines are "woke". Part of the tyranny. If you do not get the shot, you will  be able to do nothing as this expands. Buy and Sell..

And in case there was any thoughts about provisions not getting onto the ships, the union is called the ILA, International Longshoremans Association.

Not necessarily if Carnival or MSC decide to have part of their fleet go the test route after the initial ships do the 95% route.  This way Carnival and possibly MSC can still generate extra monies by having a higher percentage of unvaccinated on board and then pluck new cruisers from their competitors.  Purely speculative,  but feasible.
