At 8:30 this morning we got an email from Carnival from the casino department offering us a free obstructed balcony room on an Alaskan cruise and free drinks while in the casino. They had a big list of different cruises to go on this year. I had some work I had to finish before I could book it and finally got around to booking at 10:30.

Sorry, all sold out. Reminder, self, don't hesitate next time......

We booked, but not balcony.  They were all sold out.  But we got a screaming deal- $800 for 2- ocean view!!  And free drinks in the casino.  Plus $200 OBC.  Don't care that we're at the bottom of the ship.  Have had 4 Alaska cruises canceled already.

But.....  if they did sneak in that we have to be vaccinated, I will cancel.  In a heartbeat ...   Not a whisper of this was mentioned when we booked.

Carnival has already said all Alaska cruises (Carnival, Holland America, Princess) this year require vaccinations. The casino doesn't get to overrule.

"Based on recent guidance from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and close collaboration with Alaskan officials, Princess Cruises, Holland America Line and Carnival Cruise Line plan to resume guest cruise operations for a partial season in Alaska, each with one ship sailing round-trip. These Alaska cruises are available for guests who have received their final dose of an approved COVID-19 vaccine at least 14 days prior to the beginning of the cruise and have proof of vaccination. Crew vaccinations will be in accordance with CDC guidelines."

With reduced capacities to start, don't  blink**

@BlerkOne, reduced capacity is NOT going to happen. So much fuel for so little people?  Never. The cruise lines have been waiting till the CDC has little to no say in what they do, and cruising will not resume until then. "Normal" cruising is the demand, and so be it.

With more and more states relaxing and even completely eliminating restrictions in May and June, full capacity may be on the table for July.

That said, Carnival Corp has said it can break even at 25% capacity. If the entire fleet can run at 50%, Carnival can start paying down debt.

You're NOT vaccinated??

No we are not....   guessing we will be canceling today.  I will not be forced into a vaccine. The email only states to follow CDC guidelines.  There are tons of other vacation options out there that do not require it.

When is a balcony not a balcony?? I got the same offer but when i went to book yesterday it kept changing the rate code from O1M to OUM and said price for the "free Balcony" was 3400 now today its 800 per person the only tab i can select for the "free balcony" is an inside cabin otherwise the cost for a balcony is 2 grand.  Very confusing offer.

From some posts, the free balcony is sold out. Not confusing, just no offers left for free balconies.

I was hoping for some deals for us regular folks when alaska opened up, but seems they are driving demand with free free free to gamblers. That's one way to keep prices sky high ... offer gamblers free cabins. Free fills up fast. Even with add on taxes or whatever.

Pretty sure that is their way of telling you the free balcony cabins have already sold out. Previous poster said they were able to snag an OV for Alaska out of a similar offer.

No because everytime i fill out the form for one they call me once and i miss the call and then never get another call or even a message so i have to fill out the form again.  Have done it 4 times and each time only one chance to answer the phone which is not possible as they always seem to phone when im on a teams meeting lol

There were just a certain number of cabins available under the offer. The balconys filled, offer dropped to OV, then Insides may be last available until offer is completely booked.

Somebody just posted they were able to book one of the remaining insides. Free isn't forever.

the promotion is just to fill blocks of cabins, they're not giving away the whole store.

Just curious, would you have to quarantine post-cruise? I was wondering how Carnival will handle the restart for Canadians if they're under restrictions and unable/unwilling to quarantine due to time/work constraints.
