Post covid smoking on royal

Hi,

 

I know smoking in casinos used to be controversial.  I feel that post covid all cruise lines should ban indoor smoking for obvious airborne spreading of potential germs.  Have cruise line acknowledged if smoking will only be allowed outdoors?

I haven’t heard anything yet. When there’s smoking in the casino it saves me money since I won’t go in. Can’t stand the smell of smoke.

Hi,

 

I wouldn’t recommend cruising if you are this concerned about “germs”

 

But if you do, avoid the lower decks.  Get as far away as you can from wastewater processing and avoid the public restrooms.

Quantum sailings out of Singapore are allowing smoking in the casino.     I specifically asked one of the passengers that was posting a "live" review.   and they are sailing there without any vaccination requirements.

What does Cigarette smoke have to do with Covid germs???

 

There really is no correlation between the two things.

Not the OP but I imagine because the smoke enters your lungs, communes with any germs present then gets exhaled along with any germs that might like to tag along 🤷‍♀️.  I don’t gamble & quit smoking 20 years ago so I just avoid the area.

Coming from the uk where you are not allowed to smoke inside you can really smell the difference. I for one would prefer no smoking inside. I am not agaianst smoking thats up to the individual however i am against having to smell and taste the smoke. Same with people that smell or bad breath  🤣.

 

Smoking is controversial as it directly affects others......

As much as I'd like to see smoking banned, I'm not sure I see the correlation between Covid and smoking.

I have never smoked a day in my life and my mother has survived to bouts of lung cancer (god bless her).  She smoked when she was younger and quick 35 years ago.

Without a dog in the fight my opinion (and only opinion) is that the cruise line stands to loose more money taking out the (smokers) demographic.  In other words there are more people that will not cruise because they cannot smoke than those that will start cruising due to not allowing smoking.

The cruise lines cannot afford to loose one penny right now so they will take all the numbers into account.

In saying that I will reach out to an employee that has been on Anthem of the Seas since it has been in operation.  He will give me the low down in minutes if he has any info.  He is an employee and a smoker.

Covid is a virus and has nothing to do with smoking . Yes cruise lines have acknowledged no smoking indoors. Try a Cruise from Australia 😇

I thought mask requirements were to be wearing the mask in public areas unless you were actively eating/drinking.  Which was defined as taking a sip of your drink or actually putting food in your mouth.  Kind of hard to smoke through a mask.  Maybe a mask with a small hole for the cigarette to fit through and left in for the duration of that smoke.  LOL

When exhaling cigarette smoke, IF a person is Covid positive, that allows the Covid virus laden breath to travel that much further. It is on par with yelling or singing which also catapults the virus further into the air. As an example.....normal breathing does not allow the virus to travel as far as singing or shouting. This is the main reason for masking as the masks blocks that breath which contains virus laden aerosols and droplets.

 

I surely hope smoking is banned in all indoor spaces on cruises debarking from US ports.

This has everything to do with mitigation of the Covid virus. Anyone who does not understand that needs to understand the anatomy of the human lungs and how the Covid virus is transmitted.

I enjoyed the non-smoking casinos on Celebrity.

 

I don't understand why parent company Royal C does not adopt the same policy. What's good for the goose is ....

 

Hope it happens before my first cruise ever on Royal C next May.

But since smoke usually rises and the microbes from COVID are heavier, they'll fall, not linger around.  And if you are smoking and have COVID, you're a worse fool. How you could even made it on board without coughing your lungs out and drawing attention would be a miracle.

Exactly.  It’s spread by fecal aerosols in the air .... not cigs

I am in no means an egg head however anything that is expelled from your mouth can contain Covid particals. Your tested by swabbing back of throat and nose so that to mean means anything coming out of mouth can spread covid, spit, smoke, etc..........if this easnt the case then why swab in your mouth and nose.

My thought was the smoke being exhaled travels further so the germs would too.  Not an expert, just my observation.

Other RCG properties have banned smoking and have had no decline in bookings.
