Booking Fare Survey: Which Cruise fare do you book? With or Without the Princess Plus Pacakage

As far as the specialty coffee card (added to your medallion) the issue for me is having to count how many I have left or asking how many do I have left?

 

This I have done and I do not want to leave money on the table (so to speak) and buy and extra card only to use 1/2 of it.

 

It does not carry over to the next cruise like the old coffee cards. Its one and done.

Seems a no brainer to me. You don't have to drink like a fish all day . 4 or 5 drinks a day would make it worthwhile. Of course if you are a non drinker it probably is not worth it. https://www.princess.com/cruise-deals-promotions/uk/princess-plus/

That is the stinky part of the medallion with the coffee card being uploaded on it. Because I've had the coffee card strictly for the fancy tea, and it does think that they don't roll over like they used to. That was my favorite thing cuz those cards would last me two maybe three cruises.

Just curious what is the 35% casino discount on the cabin? Does that mean you are a high roller in the casino. Please excuse my ignorance as I am just wondering what that discount means?

Great survey, thanks for starting it up.  P+ all the way for us as well. While we're hardly alcoholics, the big three of booze package (and it's not just booze), grats and unlimited wifi make this a no-brainer for us. We book this plan on every cruise and it does save us $$$s.

I'm hardly a high roller, but we do visit the casino a bit.

Real high rollers get free cabins.

A couple of weeks ago I asked my PVP about how many of her clients were booking PrincessPlus and she said over 80%.  Just a little different that your survey results so far.

We are very "light-weight" gamblers and we frequently receive $500 casino discounts on our cruise fare.  We have never received a free cruise offer.

The other issue I have with the princess Plus for me is, I book a cabin just for myself as a solo traveler. So technically I'm paying for double  princess Plus package (double gratitudes, wifi and drink package)  for my cabin. which typically has two occupants. Huge reason why I always do the princess saver.

So mathematically when I book with strictly the savers fare for my solo cruises, I automatically save $600 plus dollars.

In this instance I can see why it would not be logical to do it this way. If I remember correctly, when a passenger travel solo their fare is doubled?

Pretty much. But obviously you're not paying double government and taxes fees you're only playing for yourself not for that second passenger on that.

I've dropped a couple hundred on the slots on each of our last couple of cruises.  Doesn't qualify me for squat. I didn't expect it to so no disappointment there.

I guess I'm one of those Elite customers Princess would like to see GO:  I always book the Saver.  However, since I'm also a solo passenger,  I have to pay the 100% Single Supplement.

 

I don't drink any alcohol or fancy coffees. I drink the 'free' coffee.  I exchange my free mini bar for sodas & a few bottles of water (to take on excursions).  I have no need for the beverage package.

 

The (previously) free Internet minutes allowed me to check-in w/my DD every day when I cruise solo.  No other Internet needs.

 

I do buy (mostly) ship's excursions, esp. when I'm solo -- easier & more secure for this elderly solo.

 

I don't even go in the casino.

 

Will I now move to other cruise lines?  Even though it's a rather small increase in costs to me (so far), the loss of free minutes & the Loyalty OBC (I've almost 41 points) makes other lines more competitive.

 

We'll see.
