“Let’s be serious”? How about let’s be factual. I’m all for some criticism, but keep it factual!

Contrary to your belief, I was always asking for someone else (I don’t own a business!), nor was it seen as free cruise written off as a business expense. So, far from a “cover up” of a “goofy idea”.
I been on a few Celebrity cruises but wasn’t sure of the policy. Probably not understanding what some of the “group bookings” that I’ve seen get up to.
The posters who came back pointing to the Celebrity booking conditions was all that was needed (thank you to them), with no need for all the other vitriolic comment.
These forum boards can really get brutal!!

" These forum boards can really get brutal "!! ( That's true and we all learn that from time to time through our posts ).

Now---Let's say you were in my position ( probably others also ) and read your original post (in quotations below ) what would you assume (think ) ??

" If you are a fare paying passenger and director of your own company, that has a fashion based product, are you allowed to self-promote it on board? I’m thinking like, posting flyers, or similar,  at cabins? May be advertising a website and/or arranging a gathering in a public space, for example "?

1---"If you are a fare paying passenger --- director of your own company --- fashion based product

Would you not give it a second thought that you are asking for yourself as a Director of your own Company   and familiar with the product ??

2--- " I’m thinking like etc, etc  posting flyers "---  Sure sounds like you are thinking for yourself , not someone else.

3---" arranging a gathering in a public space "---- Sounds like your idea to " arrange a gathering ".

Lastly, IF the people you are asking for will be on the cruise, and being a Director of their own Company, why didn't they post the question themselves or better still----phone Celebrity and ask

them ?

Can we agree that their intention is to find a way to charge the cruise to the business ?

Why your “friend” would even think to ask a question like this is beyond me.  Is your “friend” having you solicit on their behalf?  I don’t understand…

Lots of plot holes we'll probably never get answers to....A friend is the director of a fashion company, he's asking if he can leave flyers on stateroom doors to notify people about a possible gathering on the ship.  So we have no choice but to fill in the blanks, I'll take a guess...A swinger party?  Their fashion part is selling apparel with upside down pineapples (which is a swinger signal).

.A swinger party?

Now I get it----

If you mean arranging some  GOLF foursomes at the next Island.

I'm in !!

If you mean the other " Swinger " party, it sounds like we were never on the same Celebrity cruise.

Do you have to bring your own swing and will Celebrity let it be hung on the balcony?

If we get quarantined on our westbound Reflection TA this Fall, we'd better be OUT of quarantine before we reach FLL.  The following "lifestyle" cruise includes, ahem, "playrooms".  😍

The OP's explanation would, of course, allow his friend, if caught, to say he "heard that someone had said it was ok".

Foiled, though, by the fact that no one said it would be ok, so the would-be solicitor will now have to just ask strangers on the street.

Next thing you know is that they will be demanding that  their immensely talented daughter be able to give a solo flute and interpretative dance concert in the atrium.

Let me know how she does. I will either be in the casino or at the Sunset bar.

Some of these answers are not fair ( LOL ).

Uum--- I don't think nobody would mind being bombarded with flyers from passengers that are looking to charge their cruise as a Business expense -- So,

Why don't ya bring 40 boxes of pamphlets and try ( ?? ) handing 'em out -- starting with the Captain.

Ya don't wanna waste time stickin 'em on cabin doors, and besides, think of how much scotch tape ya gonna need.

Then , eat/drink as much as you can on the first night , because the next day you will be going home without a key chain you might have won at trivia or mambo on day 3.

If the next day is a sea day, they would be in big trouble.

@Newbury newbie Don't give up for your friend so easily just because of some internet naysayers. Get your friend to contact Celebrity Corporate with a business proposal. The cruise line host sellers of 'art' and overpriced spa services, why not something in the 'fashion' world? Of course, if your friend's fashion items at $10 t-shirts or $5 costume jewelry he/she will have to brand them so Celebrity can charge $100 for the t's and $500 for the jewelry. Perhaps a Titanic logo like the Lacoste Crocodile. 🚢

Where would Elon be if he folded his battery powered tent after the first NO or if  Steve Jobs had listened to the naysayers who believed Apples were only for eating!!

Of course, where would Coke be if they had listened to all the NO's said about New Coke or Frito-Lay had listened to all the NO's folk's were screaming about Cheetos Lip Balm. 😉

I can't resist..... Why not just plug in a telemarketing program to call all our rooms -

"Hello -  Your Automobile warranty is about to expire"

Telemarketing to the rooms is already used exclusively by X. We always had a msg inviting us to the art auction or something.

My wife makes jewelry and I make Kumihimo braid/beading and she has a ‘company’. We join in and have organized craft groups usually on TA’s. And have helped others work. At No Time does my wife (and therefore me, her only employee!) ever mention how to buy anything from us or how to contact us after the cruise to buy anything. Its all just part of a crafting group, or just on our own and someone joins us and asks us about what we are doing.

We and everyone else are on vacation and it is Unethical, almost in All Cases against the rules of wherever we are, and not something we’d do anyway even if somehow we could get away with it.

I'm here for two things:

1. Thank you to everyone for making me laugh - I needed a good belly laugh on this gloomy, hot as heck NY day!

2. I am absolutely stunned that there were no yay'sayers for the fashion idea. Kudos to Mr. @Newbury newbie for bringing all of Cruise Critic together on an issue. A first that shall never be repeated. Well done good sir!

We are swamped with these calls..you can request that they are not sent

But Cap Club still gets thru and leaves longest messages ever
