I've been to Ponta Delgada as part of a TA in the spring of 2014. (I think that's when it was.)

Me too. And I know it was 2014, as my pregnant seasick daughter was with me!

It has been a while since I have posted on the Fleet Report and Daily but I do look very often at the location of the Fleet ! Thank you very much for that Rich @richwmn and also thanks for other daily contributors specially Roy , Debbie and many others that will keep this going .

I could not resist posting a few pictures of our experience on Sao Miguel , we have been there half a dozen times and have Rui Medeiros a wonderful local guide there who have taking us all over the Island so I have tons of pictures  but just give you a peak of what we experienced on Sunday April 24 , ’22  the first Sunday after Easter which is a very special day in the town of Furnas when the priest goes through the main streets of the town to give Communion to the sick who are unable to leave the house . The town was closed off to traffic at noon and the people started decorating the streets where the large  procession would be held .

Rui took us first to a local cheese factory for a great cup of coffee and a cheese tasting

Furnas is a small village located in the cauldron of an ancient volcano where also the volcanic activity is still very close to the surface , where the water is bubbling up and you can smell the sulphur .

image.thumb.jpeg.8c8c1974ed9e10d2d4764e32f729d942.jpeg
Close to noon time the locals started working very patiently on the path for the priest to walk through town . No more traffic into town .

Meanwhile at the main church in town the locals are getting ready for the procession

The Harmony slowly approached the church and the Angels came down ready to accompany the priest .

After the rain subsided we toured some more in and around this special town .

Thank you all so much for the birthday wishes . DGS (not the one with Covid) wanted ice cream for his birthday, so his Nana and Papa took him out on their boat to get the ice cream. At 3 years old, he has no idea how special that boat ride was, thru the heart of the 1000 Islands. Lucky boy.

I have now joined the other members of the family with Covid. None of us are very sick, and most are now feeling much better.  DD dropped off lunch today, from Rib Fest, as we couldn't go.  Yummy.

@kb4683Belated birthday wishes for your DH

@dfishGlad to hear the suitcase arrived.  Exciting plans in your future.

Thank you to all who help keep this site running. And special thanks to those who post port pictures.  Nice to remember ports we have been to, and to see places we haven't been to.

Have a great rest of the day,

Tony @sailingdutchy I really enjoyed your pictures of the people in the town preparing their street for the priest to have a path of flowers to walk on to give communion to the sick.  I can't imagine anywhere else in the world where all the people of a town would cooperate like that.  Thanks for posting them.

National Lighthouse Day and @ger_77's post started me thinking.  I grew up just north of Syracuse New York, and my usual swimming place was on Oneida Lake.  The original Erie Canal was pretty much a simple ditch but it was updated about 1918 to carry strings of motorized barges, and at that time started making use of available waterways including a transit of Oneida Lake:

Capture.JPG.5f61ec1451aee15e3c597b0c4864b5c8.JPG

I started thinking "maybe there were lighthouses and it turns out there were 3.  There was one at Frenchman's Island near the west end of the lake, one at Brewerton, and a third at Sylvan Beach at the East end.  That one is reported to still be operational although it would not be really used in navigation as it done electronically.  I did not find photos except for one I'll link from Marine Traffic:

https://www.marinetraffic.com/en/photos/of/lights/lightname:Verona Beach/lights

Not much ink on the link but from the link search for Sylvan Beach

I always saw strings of barges crossing through the lake when I still lived there but they no longer do.  I have Crossed the lake several times on cruises with Blount Small Ship adventures.  The lights would have been vital to navigation in early years for finding the lake exits.  The primary route of the canal now goes to Lake Ontario in Oswego although there is still a branch that crosses to Buffalo.

Good afternoon.  DD and DSIL left about 45 minutes ago after a nice afternoon visit.  DSIL was nice enough to replace the kitchen sink faucet in the motorhome.  We need a part to join the supply line to the faucet since the motorhome lines are a different size.  The local hardware store did not have the correct part, so once the part arrives, I'll finish hooking up the lines.

After lunch, we watched some of the home movies of the DDs growing up.  DH had transferred to memory chips earlier this year.  Boy did they bring back a lot of good memories.

Thank you everyone for your pi tures of the various lighthouses.  It is always interesting to see the different designs.  I've also enjoyed all the pictures feom Ponto Delgada.  I'm afraid if I tried to name everyone, I'd forget some.

Two years ago this month, when most travel was impossible, I rented a cabin west of Oswego overlooking Lake Ontario. In downtown Oswego, I spent some time watching the operation of the lock.

Good evening from Jacksonville, Florida.

We had a sunny day for our drive down here.  However we had heavy traffic.  Everyone seemed to be heading to Florida today.

Thank you Rich for the Fleet Report and the Daily.

I like the days. Friendship is important and i especially treasure my friends.  I also treasure all of you who have become my friends since I joined this thread. I appreciate each and every one of you.

As for forgiveness, that is very hard.  There are a number of people in my life that I have been working on forgiving.  Mostly in my family.  It is hard.  I have achieved some level of forgiveness so that these people do not rent space in my head.  However, forgetting is another story.

I love lighthouses and we have been to quite a few.  Unfortunately, those photos are from the days before digital photography and I cannot share them.

I really like the quote.

The meal would have been nice today if we were home, but we had to do with other food.

Wine seems nice.

I have never been to Punta Delgado and am very grateful for all the photos.  It seems like a lovely place.

We are tired from the drive.  My first appointment tomorrow is at 7:30 am.  That means getting up quite early and going to bed early tonight.

I hope everyone had a lovely day.

God Bless,

Terri

Greetings on this cold Monday, temperature only 6 C. The snow from yesterday has mostly melted, this morning the snow on our deck was frozen.   We have some sunshine, with  blue skies among the cloud.   Several layers needed while out walking this morning.

It was good yesterday to see @daisybertie again posting on a Fleet/Daily thread.

Thanks for all the photos of today's destination.

Stay safe, take care everyone.
