Last night we went to an art walk and celebration in Mobile. My son was asked to fill in for an absent member of the puppet group. Here is a picture of him. I think blue with that cute orange hairstyle is adorable. Grandson and I had a ball too. He spent the night with me and will be here to help get my entry into the vegan chili cook off started. Prayers for all. Thanks for the contributions that make this a great place.

Good luck in the Chili Cook Off!

Roy, my condolences to the family of fireman Andy on his recent passing.  Congrats to you on arriving at 5 star status!  And also thanks for the mention on the Celebration list.

Neighbor Linda is holding a Celebration of Life service for her late DH on Dec. 3 at a church in a nearby town.  Unfortunately we will be on our cruise then but intend to donate to our local food pantry in his name.

Congrats to your nephew John on his engagement!  Have a good time tonight.🥂

Love the meme!  And the wine sounds decent and affordable today.  I'll have a glass please!

Hope your finger is doing okay today.  I agree they need to rework their election process in Arizona and Nevada.  Start counting absentees earlier perhaps or set an earlier deadline for absentee ballots (or do both).  Other states can do it.  Look at Florida!  In our state we need to rethink this 50% of the votes policy because of the havoc it has caused the last two elections.  Just pick whomever has the most votes, like other states do!

Thanks for the reminder!  Happy birthday Jake!🥂

This looks like such a fun event!  Enjoy cooking with your grandson.  I can tell how happy you are with your new life in Mobile and I'm happy for you.

Thank you Graham!  I like that Princess ship birthday meme.  Very cool!

Thank you

Happy Birthday  to Jake @Crazy For Cats and to Sandi's DS @StLouisCruisers.

I like Happy Hour even though I no longer drink alcohol. It is always festive and especially  nice on a BHB.The quote requires more brain power than I have at present and pneumonia is dangerous and deadly for so many.I have not been to the port.

The remnants  of Nicole blew through last night and were rather dramatic.Branches, leaves and  acorns are all over but the power stayed on.

Stay safe out there everyone  and enjoy those cruises!

Oh, I love this ornament!  I'm going to send that to my DD for a good laugh!

She is very creative and crafty and therefore has a side business (she's a teacher) making decorative arts.  Started out doing string art but now has branched out doing wooden pieces using her Glow Forge machine.  Next Saturday is a Christmas craft fair that she is going to participate in so she has been making pieces to sell for months now.  One of her pieces is a dog ornament that she can personalize with the dog's names.  She can do about 200 different breeds of dogs.  Here's some examples.00-krGnVk_TmW1vjXOSXmrbNCgtIzRKIF36hrdhGheqtVKh0KbQ4fu3L3lfFe0zGzgJVZV51t4MhjbEwRNyGscOgg?cn=THISLIFE&res=medium&ts=1667834760

When she put it on Facebook she got many orders!  My niece bought 5 different ones for herself, her siblings and her parents (my twin).  Aren't they cute?

I wish we didn't have that test to do either!  We're doing ours Wednesday because Thursday is so packed with last minute stuff.  It says 3 days so Wednesday should be alright I guess.

Anyone have any opinions on driving I-95 south (especially after Nicole) to get to Ft. Lauderdale?  Is the road clear?  Are there often traffic jams?  Any suggestions on side roads in case something like that happens and causes delays?

Sandi since you are going to be on the Volendam the Cellar #2 package has the Pine Ridge white blend is listed.   Much pricier onboard than the $10 store price.  Your  daughter's ornaments are beautiful.   No Christmas trees for us this year.   We don't want to return in March for one waiting for us.

@rafinmdCongratulations on 5 Star!  🍾

I am heading off to see my brother soon.  We have snow in the forecast for tonight into tomorrow and I will probably take a day off since his kids and grandkids will visit while off from work.

We got all the needed lawn work done before the snow flies.   I am sure leaves will blow in and a few more fall but this lovely run of warm weather made fall bearable.

Thanks for the Daily and Fleet Reports!    I like French Dip sandwiches, our local tavern near our cabin has a good one.  We are holing up for a few days after our casino junket to New Buffalo.   The quote is strange.  Pass on the food, cocktail but probably drinking a lot of that wine in our future.    I look forward to the photos of the port.  DF worked for Kawasaki and he had many trips to Japan but he doesn't recognize the port.     I look forward to some photos.

I got our Luggage Forward completed.  Our last communication said we will be contacted but I got sick of waiting.   Ours will be picked up 12/14.   I also talked to Optum Rx about getting three months of medicine in advance so hopefully that will be handled.  I will go several days early to make sure things go through OK, especially since we are starting our drive south to Fort Lauderdale on 12/22.   HA finally opened up specialty dining yesterday.   I will work on that next.  I try to prepay as much as I can before departure.

Prayers for all on our cares list, especially people in FL who can't get a break from the huricanes and the people of Ukraine.

Sandi, I have used Google maps and what I call the "talking lady" on my cell phone to negotiate our congested highways here. They  have traffic updates and let you know when there are accidents. An alternate route is given as well.Last week it got me over the ridiculous George Washington Bridge  and onto the proper highway for home in the midst of a monster traffic jam. I am always pleasantly  amazed.

Well what a week for birthdays!  I had four of them in my immediate family, this week, including my son-in-law’s today.  Happy Birthday to @Crazy For Cats ‘ Jake and @StLouisCruisers ‘ son too!  🎂

@rafinmdRoy, so exciting about your 5* pin!  Congratulations!  One time they gave me one I already had.  Gee thanks.  😂  Was sad to have been left a medallion in my room, last month, instead of an awards presentation.  I got over it because my sister didn’t get one so I had great fun rubbing it in.  🥉

It was fantastic reading the posts in Oakridger’s Thread from the people who actually reported the boat in peril and were rescued by the crew of the Rotterdam!  If that’s not a miracle I don’t know what is.

It’s a sunny day today.  Not quite sure what I’ll get up to but I’m sure something needs cleaning.  Have a great day everyone.

Did someone say Happy Hour?? I love this one:

image.png.74157cb99dd1212f7e56c543c3401f7a.png

Good morning Dailyites. A chilly 30 here. I need to track down my hose bib covers.

A glorious day of nothing but a load of clothes, and a run to the market to get veggies for my soup.

I will pass on the recipe of the day and wish I had Roy's lamb chops from last night. They look delicious! We will be onboard in one month!

I have all the Christmas cards done, presents wrapped.. I'm thinking about putting our travel tree up til we leave. It has ornaments from places we've been.

Prayers lifted, to include my sweet friend who's mom passed away, and for the people of Ukraine.

Have a blessed weekend friends!

If your GPS can warn you about I95 problems before you get to 301 in Georgia, you can follow that until Jacksonville.  But I would only do that if totally necessary.

Once into Florida, Route 1 until you hit the Turnpike is a possibility. But again, I would only do that if necessary.

The Turnpike is usually a decent option into the Miami area. But even that can be horrific, when there is a bad accident.

Good luck!

Good morning, everyone!

Happy Birthday @Crazy For Cats Jake!

101-Best-Happy-Birthday-Memes-12-720x720.jpg.4354d04c29fb5ebbafc548e602bedf59.jpg

Also, Happy Birthday to Sandi's @StLouisCruisers son.

Right now it is nice and sunny out, although a bit cool.  It is supposed to cloud over by noon and then will be downright cold.  But, no matter!  I am comfy cozy in my new home with plenty to do.

Back in Ohio I had regular service for pest control.  It was pretty good and I never saw a spider or ant the whole time.   In August I told them I wanted to cancel the service as I was moving out of state.  They said they would take care of it.  However, they came out in September anyways.  I recently got a message from them that they would be out November 14th for my next treatment.  I replied back that they were supposed to cancel my service and close my account.  They said ok. Then I received another message that they had cancelled the November 14th service but were waiting to reschedule for another time.  So, I called them.  When I started the service I had signed a one year contract which got me an introductory discount.  I fulfilled the contract for that year and then went by each treatment because I was moving.  The woman in charge of my account said I needed to send them a copy of the purchase agreement for my new house to prove that I had moved to an area they didn't service.  Otherwise, they would be charging me the discount amount for cancelling the service.  I've never heard of such a thing.  My nephew, an attorney, said tell them to try and charge you and good luck in court.

Fall harvest salad with roasted butternut squash and apple is the only salad recipe you will need this fall and winter. Loaded with roasted butternut squash, fresh crisp apples, bright pomegranate seeds, toasted pumpkin seeds, and tangy feta cheese, this fall salad is tossed with kale and a delicious homemade apple cider vinaigrette. It's healthy, wholesome, nourishing, and filling. Plus, it's a gorgeous and colorful salad to put on your holiday table this year.

This next one leaves out the kale and uses lettuces.  It also includes dates and a cumin date dressing.   https://www.loveandlemons.com/butternut-squash-salad/

Ina Garten uses arugula for the green.  You can add in other greens and lessen the amount of arugula if you like.  https://foolproofliving.com/roasted-butternut-squash-salad-with-warm-cider-vinaigrette/

Wishing you all a wonderful day.   @Quartzsite Cruiser I hope Steve improves by leaps and bounds!  @ottahand7 Thinking about your DB.  Warm thoughts and healing vibes to all with family and friends battling health issues.
