I haven’t eaten in mdr since Luminae was conceived 😁😁

Due to show time, we are trying the Windjammer Wednesday.  Don't know why but It's been several years since we did dinner in the Windjammer.  If we like it Wednesday I can see us doing it again Thursday.  We will do Lobster night to see how the new Lobster is like.  The last night will be Chops.

Looks like @Ozark_Kid and I were at the same showing of Ocean Aria.

The show was a bit different than when I saw it last year, but that's to be expected with a different cast.  I liked that the hand-balancing duo did their act out on the middle part of the pool (the "bridge" seen in the picture above) -- other performers I've seen have done it back on the stage area.  Those extra 20 or so feet of distance really made a big difference in what you could see, IMO.

I've also never seen divers jump off the left diving board and cross over into the right swimming pool, and vice versa.  They were FLYING!   The diver that backed out in Ozark_Kid's video wasn't the only one -- at the exact same time, there was another diver on the left platform that also backed out.

I've also never seen the Aqua Theater show performed in such extreme wave and wind conditions -- that pool was SLOSHING:

I had a few minutes between the end of Ocean Aria and when my dining time was, so I stopped in the Casino on Deck Four (same deck as my MDR) to use my freebie slot money.  Everyone gets between $2-$100 to use on the first two days, plus I get $6 for my D+ status.

I put my card in a machine and the reader turned green, but when I tried to access my account to transfer my freebie money to the game, it kept saying "accessing account" but never actually did anything.  I tried three different machines multiple times, and they all did the same thing, so I went to the Casino Hostess to ask her what the problem was and she told me that I'd have to go to Guest Services because the problem was with my card.  Oh joy!  By then it was time for dinner, so off I went.

Tonight was "Formal Night" and also "French Night":

Double Iceberg Wedge Salad (I really love salad!):

I also got the Beef Tenderloin, but I got three pieces, all of which were delicious.  I also requested and received extra asparagus with my order:

And since they don't have my beloved Apple Blossom anymore, I had to settle for the Apple Crumble, which is served boiling hot -- I learned that lesson last week, and put my ice cream on top before trying to eat it:

After dinner, I had time to kill before the 10:00 Adult Comedy Show, so I went up to Deck Five to Guest Services to find out why my card didn't work in the Casino.  The worker told me that it had been demagnetized (no clue how that happened, I didn't do anything different with my card today than I did all week last week?) and printed me a new card.

New card in hand, I went up to Deck Six to the Schooner Bar, where the bartender acted like it was a personal affront that I requested a "Pretty-n-Pink" with light alcohol.  (I know all the drinkers here just rolled their eyes like the bartender did! LOL)  The bartender joked that without the booze, it won't be pink, but he smiled and made it for me anyway.  Sorry, I didn't grab a pic of that drink, because I was busy chatting with the guy sitting next to me at the bar.  After slurping down my Pretty-n-Not-So-Pink, it was time to head to the Adult Comedy Show.

As I walked through the hallway from the casino towards the front of the ship, the stand-by line was already extending through the lobby and into the casino hallway area, I'd guess that there were already 40-50 people in line, and it was still almost half an hour before the show!  I got my usual front seat:

IMG_20230123_213643434.thumb.jpg.8cbf4d827748b4aff34448d216eba1da.jpg

The comedians were pretty good, but I've seen both of them before (either Fall 2021 or Spring 2022, can't remember which -- the previous week had different comedians) and they used a lot of the same jokes.  They did both do some riffing off interaction with the audience, though, so it wasn't all old material.

I also had my beloved virgin peach daiquiri:

After the show, I stopped in the casino again to try out my new SeaPass card, and it worked.  Not only did it work, but for the first time EVER in my experience, I actually got more than just the standard $2 in free play -- I got $10 plus my $6 for D+, for a total of $16 in freebie slot money!  I hit the button until I used up the $16, and then I cashed out my winnings -- a whopping $7.40!

Then I was off to the Schooner Bar again.  I taught the bartender how to make the Lime & Coconut signature drink from Oasis, and he was proud of me for drinking something with full booze in it, even if it was just Malibu rum. 🤣

IMG_20230123_231650580.thumb.jpg.ef2b220caf4ea21847fbebae3f6981d9.jpg

I chatted with the people sitting next to me at the bar, sang along to the piano player playing all the usual piano bar songs, and then headed to my room on Deck 12 around midnight to post all of this evening's stuff in this thread.  I stick my SeaPass into my door slot.... and the light is red.  Maybe I did it too fast?  I try again slower.... red light.  Maybe that was too slow?  I try again a bit faster but not too fast.... still red.  I tried a few more times before I admitted defeat.... and went down to Guest Services on Deck 5.

(What is the deal with my SeaPass today?  I went all last week in the same room with one card, and it worked fine in the casino and it worked fine in my room door, but this week it's all kablooey!)

At this point, there is nobody up at the front desk, and I had to ring the bell and wait for someone to come from the back room.  I told him that my card wasn't working in my door, and he printed me another one.  Back to the elevators, up to Deck 12, and down the hall to my room.....and the new card gives me a red light in the door.  Seriously???  I must have tried it at least half a dozen times, not wanting this to be happening to me, but no luck.

Back down to Guest Services, and I told him that this new card didn't work either.  I asked him if he could print me like five of them, so I could keep trying one until it worked!  So we tried something different this time, and he printed me just a key card, not a SeaPass (so it could only be used to open the door, not to charge anything or as an ID to get on/off the ship).  Back to the elevators I go, back up to Deck 12, back to my room, and back to the door that, once again, gave me the dreaded red light.

Back down to Guest Services AGAIN, and I walked up to the guy with such a look of defeat.  I told him to give me a hammer and a screwdriver and I'd take the pins out of the hinges and get into my room that way... he started digging around in his drawer and all he could come up with was a pair of scissors. So then I started giving him a hard time because they were regular scissors, so the blade was longer than 4" (which is the limit for scissors we can bring on board), so he told me he'd just give me the tip of the scissors, not the whole thing.  I think he was relieved that I wasn't Karening all over the place, even though I was pretty frustrated at this point.  He called for a carpenter to come fix the door, and I headed back to the elevators AGAIN to go up to Deck 12.

I felt like a creepy stalker, standing in the hallway at what was now 12:30am, all alone, as people walked by.  I somehow ended up in a conversation with one guy, and we were chatting away when the carpenter showed up.  (Poor guy was probably hauled out of bed for this!)  I wasn't watching very closely because we were still chatting, but the carpenter pulled out a handheld module and was fiddling with the door lock for probably ten minutes or so, trying to program it to open.  At one point the carpenter asked for my card, so I gave him both the key card and my SeaPass.

In the meantime, I was explaining to this random guy I was conversing with that I had a Central Park balcony, and he hadn't yet been in Central Park and didn't realize that there were rooms that looked out into that area.  Then the carpenter finally gets the door open (but still has to work on it from the inside), so I offered to show the random hallway dude my room and balcony.  Yes, I invited a strange man into my bedroom in the middle of the night, and didn't give it a second thought at the time! LOL

I leave the carpenter at the door, wielding his screwdriver at the lock mechanism and take Random Dude through to the balcony.  I showed him where Chops and Park Cafe were, and the Rising Tide bar, and the Living Wall, and pointed out where the swimming pools were two decks above.  After a while the carpenter comes out on the balcony to hand me my cards back and tells me it's all fixed.  Because who doesn't have a 1am party with Random Dude and Mr. Carpenter out on their balcony, right?  I thanked the carpenter profusely, and a few minutes later Random Dude continued on his way, and I was finally able to sit down, open my laptop, and post this evening's adventure.

Construction euphemism jokes can be hilarious.

The bright side is she won't have to worry if they make her hand over a seapass at the end of the cruise. She has plenty of spares.

I wish I could get my husband to eat in Specialty restaurants. The Scot in him just won’t do it any more.
I may try WJ for dinner next month. That would make him happy. I’ve never done it, but once won’t kill me and I may find out I really like it!

Yes, My DH has had a couple of cards replaced at DL this past year.  Quick n Easy

You would think they would analyze the “new” and “improved” cards and go back to the ones that were basically indestructible.  I lost cards rarely on my cruises from 1996 until December 2022.  Then on an 8 night cruise, I had to have 3 cards, as all of the information is on a plastic outer wrap, and the wrap separates.  My DW had to have 2.  She doesn’t FlowRide.

I will find the DL concierge in the future, but why use this bad system at all?

As I walked through the hallway from the casino towards the front of the ship, the stand-by line was already extending through the lobby and into the casino hallway area, I'd guess that there were already 40-50 people in line, and it was still almost half an hour before the show!  I got my usual front seat:

We had the lock fail on I think the Anthem in 2016.  We had to wait in the middle of the day in the hall until he showed up to fix the lock.  My remembrance of this event is in no way similar to yours.  😂

When I noticed that you posted just a few hours ago I thought, she posted late.  The others are out on the track.  I can't wait to tell them the story.  I will start off.... Last night at midnight, after a couple drinks, Debbi invited some random dude she met in the hallway into her room to gaze out from her balcony! 😂 I can't wait for the reaction. Lol

You sure showed much patience.  This should be a cruise memory that last a life time.

Looks like @Ozark_Kid and I were at the same showing of Ocean Aria.

Yes and looks like we were sitting on the same side.  Wish we noticed each other.  It would of been fun sitting together.

Is this a ship excursion or a do  ityourself?  Looking for some alternatives for May?

DIY.  Brillohead has been her a few times.  She has a ride service set up for us all to share.  If I remember right it's $20 pp for a round trip ride.   There are plenty of DIY options at each port.

YES!!!  I'll be snorkeling down in front of Grand Roatan... look for the purple bag in the sand in front of the construction tarp wall!!!

We got trapped in the coral once there and had to get a dude on a paddle board to lead us out.  Fascinating snorkel but you can easily get distracted by critters and forget to look where you are going. Trapped literally with 10 inches clearance...so embarrassing!

The worker told me that it had been demagnetized (no clue how that happened, I didn't do anything different with my card today than I did all week last week?) and printed me a new card.

That happened to me. Did you by any chance have your card near your phone? I was told having your card too close to your phone will cause the card to become demagnetized.

What a door lock story!  We’ve had the battery fail once on a cabin.  The door was simply unlocked while we were out and anyone could have walked right in.  We had to be late for dinner while we waited for someone to come put new batteries in.  3 times to guest services when I wanted to go to bed might have made me a bit grumpy.  Instead you made it an adventure!

I went to the Solarium to find the Omelet Sation.  I couldn't see it.  On Ovation I remembered you could them making the Omelets.  This is what it looked like.  No station in site.

So @Sea Dog Greg, I got the healthiest food I could find.  😂 Including the square chocolate cake!

While sitting outside the Solarium I noticed some with service numbers on their table.  They were served Omelets!

After getting instructions I went back in. It was busier.  Heads up.  Instead of waiting in this line.....

Just go to the left.  There was One person waiting to order an omelet!  Notice how small the sign is.

As I was leaving someone at the end of the line asked if there was a place to order Omelets.  😂 Yes, I told them.
