Buying drink packages onboard

I'm thinking of doing this as I've read that it's beneficial to the bartender who sells me this, but how does this get added to my card?  Do I have to get a new card?

Usually you get a "sticker" placed on your original card. I too do believe that the bartender gets some benefit for "selling" it to the passenger. Enjoy your cruise

It will get added to the system. You might get a sticker put on your card.

It was $100 more to purchase drink pack age on board than if I bought ahead of time.  Buy it ahead of time.

If you purchase the Classic package pre cruise for a 7N sailing the price is  $67.28 pp less than if you purchase on board.

Most things are slightly less expensive to purchase pre cruise. That applies to upgrading the beverage package as well.

The bartender who does the upgrade also gets the gratuity from upgrading (or some significant portion of it).

We upgraded my DS from classic to premium on board. He got a sticker on his card, and the server we bought it from was his best friend the rest of the cruise.

Keep in mind if you have any OBC, then wait till you get on the ship.

You can use OBC from Celebrity to purchase or upgrade pre cruise.

Where on the app is it showing the discounted price to go from CBP to PBP. I would think it would be under beverage packages. We have all included CBP and my DW was thinking of upgrading to PBP.

Any help would be appreciated…

In order to upgrade and get a CC discount you need to call, it can’t be done on the app or through the Cruise Planner on line.

I will say if you aren’t sure you will need/want to upgrade…you can do so onboard up until the last few days…prorated.

Our last X cruise, the bar staff hounded us for 13 of the 15 day itinerary to buy a drink package.  Now we are Elite and get a few free drinks.

What is the difference between Classic and Premium other than price? I am sailing solo and they are looking £1500 for the drinks and wifi for 12 nights!! TIA

Yes, it's pricey even when you account for soft drinks (including specialty coffee and bottled water) and the discount you can get as Elite. 

 

FYI, the "All Included" package can be something of a deal against pricing in drinks, wi-fi, and gratuties individually.

It says in the fine print all adults in the cabin have to purchase the package.

 

Highlights

• Each adult of legal drinking age assigned to the same stateroom must purchase this package.

By the way, it's almost always on "sale" via the cruise planner before you board.  It's not a big break ($8), but it's better than a kick in the pants.

 

Also as an aside, I mentioned the Always Included fare.  I look a look at one for another thread earlier today, and the AI package (classic beverage, standard wi-fi, and gratuities) was cheaper than the classic drink package all by itself.

True and you can use OBC pre cruise for the package too.
