Why are you happy that you can vape in the casino?

because i’m a smoker and play in the casino a lot and now I can take a few puffs from a vape pen instead of having to go outside to have a actual cigarette

@Georgia_Peaches who is currently on board has had an interesting discussion with the Marketing and Revenue Director on board.

There is a new thread here :

To those who make the point that vaping is still allowed in the casino in spite of the removal of the signs, might I remind them this is an 8 week trial.

I actually received a phone call from Celebrity this morning in response to my strongly worded opposition to allowing Vaping into the Casino.... and saying that if this goes forward as policy I will most likely cancel my 9 upcoming booked cruises and take my money elsewhere....

I received a phone call from Celebrity head office this am...
They claim
1) This is only a test / pilot project for 8 weeks on 2 ships
2) Vaping is only allowed in specific areas of Casino - not the entire Casino (CC reports are that it is entire Casino)
3) Vapors must be actively gambling (according to those currently aboard this is not true)
4) So far "Not impacting the present sailing guests at all"  (then why are we all hearing about it and providing our negative feedback)

If 2 & 3 from above are being disregarded than a report should be made to Guest Services immediately and action will be taken...

Further they do not want to loose me as a loyal customer....  Therefore my concerns have been noted...

At least I rated a phone call not a form letter / email response....

How long has it taken for a response?  I’m not a big spender.  I think that is why I haven’t gotten one.

I emailed July 3 @ 5pm, finally got my (scripted) response last night July 5 @ 11pm so it was two days for me.  I don't consider myself a big spender but this is of course a relative reference 😉 I clearly don't matter enough to warrant a phone call LOL

I sent an email to the executive office Monday. Resent the email to the executive office and copied Ms. Hodges yesterday afternoon. Received a response from the executive office this morning.

Oddly enough, the booking number for my upcoming cruise on Apex was included at the beginning of the response🤷‍♀️ Because I receive, on average, three marketing emails from Celebrity per day, I had not included anything but my email address and name in my email. I didn’t care about receiving a phone call, because I didn’t think it would achieve anything more than increasing my frustration with Celebrity. My form email response from the executive office differs from the one originally sent to others, but like the original, says nothing substantive.

Yes, when I got my reply from the executive office, the subject included my Summit cruise booking number. So they're clearly referencing things.

I take it as a good sign that the verbiage is quite different now than what we all got previously. No mention of designated areas and "all feedback is being taken in consideration."  Also, no comment saying there has been no impact.  Hope this dies as it should. Too many worms in this open can!

OH ... ya mine is carbon copy of yours so I guess a 'little' than the first ones sent out but like you said it's pretty much more of the same.  They are crafting the responses better based on feedback LOL

When I spoke to them I was told our September 2nd crise would be impacted by the test. Hopefully things are starting to turn back to normal, no smoking/vaping in any indoor venue.

I thought the test period was to end Aug 20.

While I do agree that it is a test.  I think that it is a test to see how best to deploy it to other ships.

It is yet another Celebrity money grab.

I will send my e-mail now though.

Their PR department is doing their best to control the damage from yet another money grab that decreases the cruising experience.

@CHEZMARYLOU  did I misunderstand your statement about your Sept 2 cruise?  Will the testing continue for your cruise or will it end prior to your departure date?

When I spoke to Celebrity on Sunday I was told that it was 8 weeks and that our cruise would be affected. A current passenger on Equinox reported that the signs were taking down and the notice was by word of mouth.  Today she posted a section of the daily that indicated vaping was allowed in the casino, while it was open and only if you were actively playing. Emails going out currently indicate the "test" was to end on August 20 and then Celebrity would make their decision.

So, I sent an email yesterday to ask a few questions and let them know my thoughts. I only signed my name. I got my response this morning. Similar response to what all you are getting, but the subject line was my upcoming cruise on Eclipse this coming October! So, I guess they now know exactly who I am, they must have run my email address through the system!

We shall see what happens with all of this.

I sent my email on July 3 and have yet to get a response.  I am not a big spender per se, but I am Zenith if that matters.  Thought by now I would at least get the canned response.

IMO, hopefully Celebrity is getting overly inundated with WTH type questions/concerns and are scrambling to right their wrong.

Looks like Celebrity has change their smoking policy ,

In casinos on itineraries where smoking is allowed, there will be visible signage designating the areas for both smoking and non-smoking guests.

Cigar and pipe tobacco is limited to designated outdoor areas and cigar bars (if the ship has one). Electronic cigarettes or e-cigarettes are only permitted within the designated smoking areas.
