Good afternoon from a cloudy and windy central Texas.  We're still supposed to get rain, but it will be later tonight.

Because of the tight time frame between DH's appointment and my appointment, we took precautions to minimize the risk of my being late to the dentist.  First, so DH would not have to come back and pick me up at the dentist if we didn't have time to go home before my appointment, we dropped my car off at the dentist office.  We also left earlier for the CT scan than normal, which was a wise decision.  We were at the hospital about 40 minutes early, and they got to DH right away.  In fact, we were leaving 30 minutes before his appointment.  Since I was an hour early for the dentist, I had time to go to the store to pick up a prescription and get what I needed at the store.

Now days, the deep cleaning is not that bad, and she did the lower jaw.  Usually, they do the entire  mouth in one two-hour appointment, but since she only had one-hour appointments available, I'll go back for Act 2 on November 6.  I'm glad it will be broken into two appointments.  I'm not sure I could have managed holding my mouth open for two hours.

A day late but Martha and I wish you for the coming year another wonderful ride  around the sun . Our very best wishes !

We missed out today visiting Kotor , Montenegro due to heavy wind blasts and rain so the captain is taking it easy now getting to Naples and promised  us to circle Stromboli tomorrow but doubt very much there will be anything to see this time .

We will be trying the Special Seafood Boil dinner in the Lido tonight ………

Take care everybody

greetings from the Oosterdam

Tony

Tony, I'm sorry you missed Kotor.  It's a nice place to wander, and not as crowded as Dubrovnik.

Goodness!   Ok, Dailyites, we need to shape up and get well.  @rafinmd I think scheduling is the worst part of medical procedures.  Wishing  you the best outcomes possible.  @cruising sister I'm glad your side effects from the vaccine trifecta were minimal.  Healing thoughts for your poor DB and the family. @Vict0riann I'm glad Pat's issue was dealt with.  @JazzyV I'm sorry you are in so much pain.  I'm glad you can get in today with the pain specialist.  I hope they have a solution.

I am still fighting with the eye doctor over my bill.  They overcharged me by $60 and only refunded $55.  They claim that the UV coating on my lenses wasn't covered, but the insurance company says otherwise.  What they are doing is balance billing me for the difference between their charge and the allowance by insurance according to the contract they entered when they agreed to accept that insurance.  I think I'll let the insurance company sort it out with them.  Or report them to the insurance department for the state.  But, it really isn't the insurance company at fault here.  IT is the eye practice.  You can be sure I will not be going back there.

Debbie, that's good news about paying off your car.  BTW, I am the odd one who does not like meatballs.  They always seem dry and not too flavorful to me.

Good evening.

I'm back from my appointment. Driving there was awful, with lots of leg pain. I'm not sure why driving is so bad for it. I took a cane, as it's a bit of a walk from the parking garage to the office. The pain management doctor, nurse and fellow were very thorough. They didn't think anything was a complication of the procedure. The nurse took a photo of my back showing a bruise around the injection site (I was unaware of it). There's perhaps a little weakness on the right side.

So it could be I will be a late responder to the injection. He offered some meds for sleep (mainly antidepressants), but I'll try Benadryl first. He told me what type of things not to do at PT. And he wants me to see a neurosurgeon just to see what they think. He doesn't want to wait until I have any permanent damage. They might say whether another injection would help, done from a different angle. Or maybe opening the area where the nerve emerges (the foramina) using minimally invasive surgery. Perhaps repeat the MRI (I think it should be redone). Avoid certain exercises at PT. And of course continue to work on losing weight. So I'll call tomorrow to see if I can get in to see the neurosurgeon he recommended. This is not something I was expecting.

Vanessa, I hope the suggestions will help with the pain, and I think the MRI is a good idea.  I hope the neurosurgeon can help and that you get an appointment soon.  If the disc or the spinal stenosis is impinging on the nerve, then a minimally invasive procedure might be the answer even if it's not what you would want to do.  I know the laminectomy and spinal fusion helped DH, and he does not have the leg and hip pain anymore.

Good afternoon everyone,

It's a lovely sunny cool day here in the Pacific Northwest. There's fresh snow on the hills and mountains after our very wet and windy day yesterday. I did water aerobics (2 classes) today and some errands.

I had the nicest piece of mail today. It was from a name I didn't recognize but the lady and her husband worked with my DH back in the early 60's at the Old Faithful Inn at Yellowstone in the housekeeping department. I remember my DH talking about being a house boy and delivering linens. Anyway, this couple got married on Nov. 1st 60 years ago and DH stood up for the husband and signed their marriage certificate! It gets even better. I called my Sister-in-law to tell her and she knows this person and has now called her to let her know the connection. It's definitely a small world!

Well, no easy fix, but there is a plan in place.  The meds for sleep are a temporary solution until they find out what is going on.  Use them if you need them.

I finally have an appointment at the Spine and Pain Clinic for November 15.  I have requested to be on the wait list for an earlier appointment if one opens up.

Good afternoon all,

Brenda @bennybear Please tell me that photo is from a previous year and that you don't have that much snow now??  😲

Vanessa @JazzyV I'm so glad you went in today and got such a thorough exam.  I'm hoping you're just a "late responder" as you said, but at least there's a plan to check things out more thoroughly.  Also hope you can sleep tonight.

Karen @luvteaching How wonderful you got that letter from someone who worked with your DH!

Debbie @dfish I'm glad you got an appointment and it's good you're on the waitlist for a sooner appointment.

This morning I got my flu shot, so far just some mild chills, headache and feeling quite sleepy.  For once I know that isn't because of lack of sleep, since last night I slept 11 hours after taking a sleep aid.

Also I just saved $44 on our airport hotel here in Everett, it always pays to watch prices. 😄

Have a good evening everyone!

@Cruising-along sadly it is just from one day!  Some parts of our city got over a foot!

It’s normally plus 9 Celsius and it’s been minus 14.  BRRR.  I’m not used to it,  but I put the down comforter in the bed and it’s cozy.

@JazzyV so glad you had a thorough appointment. Praying they get to the bottom of things quickly so you can  ditch this pain!

Got a "different" email from HAL today.  Instead of advertising cruises, they are advertising a mail order fish company.  I looked into it and found that if I wanted to buy their wild caught sockeye salmon, it came out to $49. per pound.  I was just in Costco today and the same product was $9.99 per pound.

We both got our covid and flu shot today there.  I guess medicare and tricare paid for them.

I am watching the news reports about the mass shooting in Lewiston, Maine.  It is just horrificm and something needs to be done to stop and prevent such situations.  It looks like @Mr. Boston and his DH will not be near Lewiston.

Tomorrow morning, I'm going to need to get up about 6 am to get the brisket in the smoker.  It needs 10 to 12 hours in the smoker to ensure it will be tender.  I'll be making potato salad and baked beans to go with the brisket in addition to the bbq sauce.  I got a head start tonight since I chopped the green pepper and celery for the salad and the onion for the beans while I was chopping the same things for the pad Thai for supper.  Also, the potatoes and eggs are cook and cooling in the refrigerator.

@Quartzsite Cruiserdinner tomorrow sounds wonderful.  What time should I arrive, if I can escape COVID jail?

Mary Kay, if I get the brisket in the smoker about 6 am, dinner should be about 6 pm.  It takes 10 to 12 hours for the meat to cook and to come out tender.
