I just read on another site that the daily internet prices are going up to $24.99 per person per day.  4 device will be $44.99 per day.  princess plus and Premier will not change in price.   I guess they are wanting us to get the packages!

MEDALLIONNET PRICE INCREASE — NO CHANGE FOR FARE BUNDLES!

Now It Pays to Plus® more than ever as the price of purchasing super-fast MedallionNet® separately is going up. The a la carte cost is increasing to $24.99 per person, per day, per voyage, for single-device Wi-Fi, and to $44.99 for four-device Wi-Fi, effective with pre-cruise purchases starting Jan 22. Additionally, the price will increase for onboard Wi-Fi purchase on voyages sailing Jan 31 and beyond. There is no impact to guests who have purchased MedallionNet at the current price ($14.99/$39.99) prior to these dates. It is also important to note that there is no change to the price of Princess Plus and Princess Premier

Could anyone please post a link where you found this information from? Did anybody receive any email notification from Princess? I called Princess Customer Service but they said they were not aware of this price increase.

Yes see post #91 and why would Princess let us know?  For those booking standard fare they can catch us unaware and get more $$$.  This is why I love Cruise Critic!  I learn more here than from my own TA who is currently escorting a Hawaiian cruise.

Sure. However, I bring a laptop to use as my hotspot...I've had 4 devices attached to that hotspot with no issues...my phone, a firestick, a fire tablet and my paperwhite reader...

How do you use a laptop as a hotspot?  I have a Mac.  Thanks.

If you are looking to get to San Diego on Amtrak, you might enjoy reading the thread I started over on the HAL board. Likely for the same reason you are looking.

Also, just today, saw Allison from Let's Go, Travel Tips. No more pre-purchased water bottles on Princess. Starts about 7:00. https://youtu.be/rnSgJ4ExyQI?feature=shared

Allison is giving out incorrect information. I just took a screenshot for you.

I'm sorry but I'm using Windows on my laptop.

But I did find these links for the Mac...

Hope these are of use to you...

Thank you.  I checked it out but apparently the laptop needs to be connected to the internet via ethernet and not wifi.  Oh well.  Not really a problem for us.

She has a new video with an update. The Bottled Water package did disappear from the website, but then it came back.

Also, when it disappeared, the remaining packages had gone up in price. Is this a case of IT releasing a planned change too early or of someone inputting bad data? Only time will tell...

This is only the beginning of price increases across the board.  Holland America just increased their daily gratuities, With the ships sailing full they can do pretty much anything.  I still think cruising gives me a good value for my vacation dollars.  Just wish they would work on the quality of their food in MDR and in buffet.

For guests occupying suites, the daily gratuity charge will see an increase to US$19, marking a 9% rise from the previous rate of US$17.50. Non-suite accommodations will experience a 6% adjustment, with daily rates moving from US$16 to US$17 effective February 1st on Holland America.

These are suggested, you can decrease the amount at guest services which I do.

I went to the Cruise Personalizer for two bookings on Sky Princess for June 2024.

I could not find how to pre-pay for the internet package (1 device).

Can anyone point me in the right direction?  I was hoping to beat the price I Increase.  Thanks in advance.

You need to do it through the Princess app.

Specifically go to the Profile tab then  MedallionNet Wi-Fi and choose either the single or multi device options.

We had to call Princess. We are Elite but they didn't show the discount on the new app. They answered in less than 5 minutes. We don't have to pay until final payment is due in March. Thx OP.

That doesn’t sound right to me.  If they charge you in March, probably go through at the rate

at the time?

I’d want them to charge me now at the current price.  You want to see MedNet on your travel summary and the price you paid.

If you look now, and see it on there as paid, then you’re okay.

Make it a true vacation and escape, maybe the trick is to leave all electronics at home LOL. I don't have a phone and don't haul my laptop on a cruise, but can understand seriously why many want or need to be connected.

After reading about the increase I called yesterday and added the one device and PAID for it at the current rate of $7.50 PP. The payment shows up in the new tab labeled extras in my personalizer.

We had to call too.  They charged us $7.50 a day but we are only ruby and will turn platinum after our cruise in November 2024.  Is this right?  Would hate for it to be a mistake and then have to pay the increased price.

If you're Ruby, you ought not have been given the 50% discount.  Whether you will turn Platinum in November doesn't really figure in this.  Status points/levels are adjusted after the completion of a cruise.  In any event, maybe you got a deal and nothing will be 'adjusted'.

Can you just buy 1 device and use the hotspot feature on your phone to feed any other devices you want to use?

On our recent cruise, 3 of us shared a single 'one device wifi' package. I purchased on my device. When my husband or son tried to load an internet page on their laptops, they were shunted to a page that asked for their credentials. IIRC, they only needed our stateroom number and my birthday to login and use my wifi package.

Of course, logging in would kick off anyone who was already using it, and there was no popup warning. But we would verbally discuss who was using it when with each other, and all 3 of us were able to share.

Sure, but just remember that you have to be in proximity of the person who creates the hotspot in order to use it.  That could be inconvenient for some (many?) folks.  Also, as I understand it, some phones do not support hotspotting wireless access points versus cellular service,
