Oh, for the love of Cookies! Say it ain't so...

Recommended Posts

Friends of ours just got off the Getaway last week.  Balcony cabins, so no Haven experience for them.  They said there were no cookies to be found.  Anywhere.  So they asked (and asked, and asked), and were told by the General Manager, Mario, who was sitting next to Captain Luigi, that it was a corporate decision that there were no cookies available except through room service, (and I would imagine in the Haven.)

Could it just be the Getaway, or could this be one more cutback rolled out fleet wide  to save $$?

What gives with that?

We had them on the Getaway in late October. The only time that I saw them was during "tea time" 3:30 to 5pm (or something like that). I can't imagine they will save that much money not serving cookies but anything is possible. People will be really upset as they love their cookies.

now that you mention it...

i was on the 1/27 getaway sailing as well. and while i don't normally eat cookies, i can tell you there were no cookies in the vibe (on the joy, they were always there) and my in-room club balcony, latitudes and casino amenities include dno cookies (usually i get cookies on at least two days of any sailing). i didn't spend much time in the buffet, but i don't remember seeing any cookies there, either. and the caisno, which usually has a late night snack mini-buffet, which generally has included cookies, had nothing at all. not a canapé, nor an egg roll, nor a pastry. nuthin'.

It's basically bleached white flour which is very cheap but anything is possible with NCL cutting back on the cruise experience.

I was on the sailing before you, and there was no food in the casino the whole trip.  I was thinking it had something to do with the stomach virus going around the ship.  It's usually a good late night snack that they put out

My cruise, (first ever on NCL and first in 15 years), isn't until April 2025... and at the rate things seem to be going vis a vie cutting back on things... makes me wonder if the thousands of dollars might be better spent elsewhere on a different type of vacation 🤷

We were just on the Encore (1/14-1/24) and there were plenty of cookies every day.  Between the lounge and the high limit room in the casino DH had his choice of cookies every day.

In December, on the Bliss, cookies were available on the Vibe.  However, at the dessert station at the buffet, there was a small sign that said you had to request them.

Yes. I would cancel.  If you are posting this now, you will be looking for things to get upset about.

The crew member greeting you as you board didn’t smile?  Service is terrible.

Your steak came out medium instead of medium rare?  Food was inedible.

Why spend all that money to just get upset?

No cookies are a good thing.

Of course, and the Vibe isn't worth it for anyone at any price. We know, we know. If the Bird doesn't like it, it shouldn't exist.

Next to go…chocolate covered strawberries.  WBTW, are now mostly covered with the fake white chocolate.  Oh Lordy!

Too funny... I prefer white chocolate 😆

Shrinken, petite strawberries with faked chocolate coating ... could smaller cookies be next, no frills & sugarless.  NCL's procurement must be continuously challenged with their bulk purchasing leverage in negotiating prices to keep it low.

What's next on the chopping block ... just don't touch my smoked salmon in the MDR at breakfast time  😬   Actually, the size of the half toasted bagel and even the bakery items like white/whole wheat toast, buns for the burger, etc. have all gotten smaller lately.  Pennies saved, added together multipled by 50,000 serving units a week ... times X number of ships - sure, add up in substantial savings toward the bottomline for shareholders.

I like white chocolate! But overall I'm wondering about NCL chocolate. Wether in desserts or in "chocolate treats" (they had quite a few of those at Gem) It is really poor quality! No big deal though. I'll just find something else to munch on. Like more food...  or cheese... or... 😄
