The Fleet Report and Daily for Monday April 22nd, 2024

Recommended Posts

Happy Monday. Thanks for the Daily and Fleet reports.

Today is sunny. Highs in the low 60s. Last night we had a frost advisory. Today I do not have to report for jury duty. A relief since it is about an hour's drive to the courthouse during rush hour traffic, I don't mind jury duty, the problem is that I am self-employed and that $9 for reporting would barely cover lunch. I start a class of 26 students. I teach the capstone class that they must take before graduation. This is the largest class I have taught so we shall see how this goes.

Bon voyage to @summer slope

Good cold 38 degrees morning. It’s currently warmer in Juneau than it is here.

I hope today brings happy memories for @grapau27on his mam’s birthday.
Today is a sad memory day for me, on this date in 1997 my mom passed away after a heart attack 💔

Blessings and prayers to all on our journey.

Good Monday Morning Dailyites.  I will be back later to post some pictures of what we did in Mykonos, but right now, I really just need to wake up.  Neighbor told me she was taking off today and tomorrow,  but she didnt, so before I take Tigger for a vet check up, I need to walk the dog. It's sunny and 44.

@JazzyVYou are in my prayers this morning, I hope that today's surgery goes well and solves the pain problem.  Hugs.

Good morning, everyone!

We have a cool start to what will be a beautiful sunshiny day!  Temps will get to the mid 60s, so I am happy.  Not much on the agenda today except a trip to the gym.  I think I have everything ready for my trip to Ohio.  Lots of driving, but worth it to see friends and spend time with them.  Speaking of my trip to Ohio, @0106 Tina has graciously offered to fill in for a few days for me.  I'm not sure I'll have internet access on a reliable basis.

@summer slope  Dixie, have a wonderful time on your cruise!

@Rowsby Happy Birthday!

@JazzyV Vanessa, you will be in my thoughts all day today.  Hoping for a great outcome from your surgery.

Hugs to all who are missing loved ones today.

Coleslaw is a great side dish and will go very well with your summer barbecues.  Mostly I found very similar recipes.  I like the green onions in this one.  https://www.loveandlemons.com/coleslaw-recipe/

Here is one with a vinegar based dressing that helps cut the calories a lot.   https://www.billyparisi.com/vinegar-based-coleslaw/

And here is Blue Cheese coleslaw.  You can experiment and use other cheeses like gorgonzola.   https://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/trisha-yearwood/blue-cheese-cole-slaw-3262578

When I make Blue Cheese Coleslaw, I buy the pre-shredded cabbage.  To that I add some very finely sliced onion (use a mandolin) and blue cheese crumbles.  I use a vinaigrette dressing and have used the bottled dressing from Garlic Expressions.  Quick, easy, and delicious.  When I made it for the family there were no leftovers.

Wishing you all a wonderful day!

Ok, I give up.  I've tried editing my post to get rid of the double picture, but it isn't working.  Sigh....Please tell me today isn't going to be like that.

Thank you for today’s FR & D, Sandi. Roy, thank you for our maps. Yesterday was quite humid until the Westerlies arrived bringing dryer air. Then just as Bindi and I closed the door after our bedtime walk - the skies opened up. We need the rain, but it would be nice to spread it out a bit. Right now it is partly cloudy, but T-storms are predicted.

Vanessa, do not doubt for a second that we are all pulling for you & your medical team. Praying that this is it!

The 8 year old is in the pool. The almost 13 year old is texting her friends. And the adults are sipping coffee. Not sure what we will do today. I suggested a cut throat game of mini golf. We shall see.

Prayers for all who need our support. Those suffering from pain, debilitating conditions, the loss of a loved one, trauma. The caregivers.

Terry, thinking of you, Tana and your families.

Cheers to all who are celebrating.

May we each find a reason to smile today.

Casado Morales 2018 Alonso López de Familia Crianza Red (Rioja)

Another lovely Spanish Rioja. Quite elusive, though I found a couple of distributors online. Everyone seemed to be offering it for $35.00 a bottle.
94 Wine Enthusiast

This dark-garnet-colored wine offers a bouquet of black currant, anisette and sage. Blackberry, cassis, dark-chocolate, violet and clove flavors are joined by a note of marjoram. Tannins start out feather light, slowly fill the palate, and linger for a while.

Love the pictures from @aliaschief.  And Mykonos!  We visited Akrotiri ther and tge archeology museum, very impressive!  I should have taken a pic of the mules as we walked down the cliff path. That was memorable!

No news from my family about Sister-in-law still lingering. Sigh.

Blessing all, I’ll update later. Thanks for your support.
