Figuring out number of Elites

On the Caribbean Princess' trans Atlantic cruise in spring of 2016 there were almost 1,000 Elites on board. We were told when we boarded that laundry service would be a 3-4 day turnaround (actually took 7 days); no priority tender service, and no lounge on disembarkation day for Elites since didn't have a room large enough.

On some cruises they've diluted some of the Elite perks to be almost worthless. :(

What ship will you be on.
We will be on the Caribbean Princess. It's the ship we never thought we'd sail on when it first debuted with the extra deck of cabins. But it had some desirable itineraries that fit DH's teaching schedule and ended up being the ship we sailed on for our past four times on Princess. And for this cruise, I was really more watching the prices more closely of a couple of different itineraries on the Pacific Princess and Crown Princess. But they did not work out to be the best value for us. The overnight in Dublin sealed the deal.

We were in a suite on the Caribbean Princess in April and laundry was always back the same day. There was one day that it was delayed because they couldn't get water off the ship. Loved having all of my clothes clean when I unpacked at home!

I agree we need a new level around 25 cruise credits. Or change elite to 20 cruise credits AND grandfather those who are elite now.

I would say 50 actual cruises completed on Princess would be good for Super Elite level and laundry etc.

And take laundry away from Elite.

Half the people I know on board usually have 50 cruises so it would still be quite a few.

We did a TA last fall and one this spring. At the Captain's Circle party, the host announced the number of pax in the different categories as well as the 1st, 2cd and 3rd most traveled on the cruise. Both cruises laundry turn around was 3 days. We gave the room steward the bag in the morning and the laundry was returned to our cabin on the evening of the third day.

We take the laundry burden off of Princess, we do our own laundry. I think Princess should give us the tokens or not charge us at all for doing our own laundry. This would take the burden off of those who don't want to do their own, and the turn around time would be much less. Just a thought.

That's the simple answer, as a option for the pax you can do your own, swipe your card and get it credit back.

That was because you were in a full suite and it did not matter if you were or were not Elite.

Maybe make the Elite status the same way as some of the airlines do with their loyalty programme. You need to re-qualify again each year by doing x amount of cruises to keep your status. I seems strange that once you qualify you keep that status for life.

In OZ we do not have many costal cruise options. Getting enough cruises up for Elite needs longer cruises. We reached Elite by doing from 12 day to 38 day cruises, loved them all, enjoying the perks, but not worried about priority tendering, just enjoy the 3 day laundry turn around and the priority check in. Just love being on a ship. PS. forgot the internet minutes! Barb.

That will make Elite status basically worthless.

Or they could simply allow X amount of laundry dollars for the regular Elite and unlimited laundry dollars for the Super Elite.

We don't use the laundry very much anyway but it could improve the service markedly.

On a recent transpacific cruise with a large number of elites, the elites were not given priority on the tenders. Notification of this was given the first day onboard.

The change for elites for tendering has been done in 2106. We get the priority ticket delivered to our cabin on embarkation day for ALL PORTS TENDERING. When we want to go ashore join the other Elites in a designated area and will be escorted to the tender immediately leaving the ship. No waiting than a few minutes. It is much more discreet. Most think we are on an organized tour just like the take the excursion passengers off on a group, you have done an excursion before? You know how that works in priority tendering? It is very similar to having an excursion, meet and get escorted to next available tender

Hi Fat Albert. Good to see you posting.(met you on the Island Princess and enjoyed our conversations.)

I think most ships do it slightly different. We didn't get tender tickets on the Regal but it was exactly as you described .

We went to the lounge where they were giving tender ticket numbers to passengers not on tour. They asked the

Elites to have a seat. When the next available tender was ready, they announced Elites to come first.Very organized.

We had this same system on the Island and Royal earlier this year

Yeah, Princess should do that. Losing that perk would be an additional incentive for us to try all the competitor's cruise lines. RCL, NCL, Azamara, Oceania, Silversea here we come!

What I think is odd is that the captains circle levels are dependent upon cruises or number of days at sea. It doesn't make sense to me that if I cruise the same number of days in a suite as someone who only pays for an inside cabin that we should reach elite status in the same number of cruises. It should be tied to $ spent.

We were on the May 25, 2017 sailing Caribbean Princess, laundry time 72 hours. I think there were 260 elites on board as announced by the Captains Circle Host. Not a problem for us as that's what we planned. We only send select items and do the rest ourselves, safer that way😁😩

I like this idea. Usually I do 1 or 2 loads of nicer clothes so they don't shrink, stretch or get pinholes.

The absolute worse cruise ship for getting laundry back was on the Caribbean Princess spring 2016 transatlantic.

By day 6 was down at Pursers desk asking them to step in. And with that at 11:00PM at night, the gal went to the laundry and picked up our underwear. The clothes didn't show up till day 7. I specifically asked if the Elite clothes were being put aside and other paying customers got done first. She said no. However, Have found out from people that did the Ultimate ship tour, saw the bags of Elite separate from the rest, waiting.

No other ship had that problem, and the worse was four days(also transatlantic). Most cruises that are shorter, 1 to 2 days.

I think Princess needs to rethink how people arrive at being Elite. Definitely should be number of days and not cruise credits.

With singles (and I fully understand why) getting doubles, and those short one day cruises where people go to get Elite status quickly, this problem will only get worse .

Holland does it by days, and you get bonus days credited for the amount of spending on board. Also until you get the free laundry, you are very seasoned cruisers with them.
