7 Day Cruise with No ports of call ?

YESSSSS...at a small discount LOL

Not that it will ever happen but if it was possible, they could discount it heavily. Think about it. They wouldn't have to pay port charges to dock and they could keep the casino and the shops open as long as they were out to sea.

In light of the devastation to some carribean islands, if they offered you a 7 day "At Sea" cruise, would you take it ?

I would be happy to stay docked (for free, of course), if all amenities were available.

Unless this was out of Vancouver or Barbados, this can't be done, unless its extremely last minute.

Would I book a cruise with no ports of call? I don't think so. Going to different places is one reason why we cruise. Just hopeful our October cruise has some semblance of an Eastern Caribbean cruise. First time ever sailing Eastern, and we're booked for Western in April.

Yes it can be done and is done all the time. I've done "Cruises to Nowhere" out of NYC, Norfolk and Baltimore. They are usually only for the weekend, don't think a few more days would matter.

Also have seen them from Florida and Seattle.

Alas, "cruise to nowhere" is no longer allowed.

If it's a foreign-flagged ship, it has to make at least one foreign port stop.

there are things I like about sea days, like sea day brunch on Carnival! as well as having the full day to roam the ship, do whatever; not having the need to disembark.

However; I have in recent years, come to enjoy very much port days, especially in ports where I have been many times, and have no desire to get off. I love the near empty ship. Enjoy the ship till later in the afternoon the crowds return. It is so nice to not have to deal with long lines for food, or service at bars etc.

So no, unless the cruise to nowhere came at a very big discount, or a very good solo rate and other perks, I would not want to book one of these.

What do mean b y offered? Do you mean offered to sell us? Or give us? :D

If I did not have to fly VERY far, if the per diem was within reason of same perdiem we usually pay.

Then Yes, I likely would go

2 years ago we were on a 14 day Celebrity Eclipse Caribbean cruise that went to 8 ports. We did not even bother getting off the ship at the first 7 ports, so it was on our 11th cruise day (St Maarten) that DW and I actually got off the ship for about 15 minutes to purchase some booze. So you ask me about a 7 day cruise to nowhere? Sign us up :).

Ocean crossings often have more than 7 days with no ports. I'm booked on a Windstar Pacific crossing that has 3 ports at the beginning and then no ports for 8+ days. (+ because crossing the date line adds most of another day.) They have Atlantic crossings that are 13 to 14 days with no intermediate ports. The ocean crossing cost a lot less per night than the other cruises.

My previous cruises have been all about the ports so this will be a different experience for me.

Definitely!! Sea days are our favorites. We've done several ta's because of several sea days in a row.

We liked HAL's San Diego rt Hawaii because of the number of seadays.

We chose our Panama Canal itinerary next April because of the number of sea days.

For us, 7 days at sea with no ports would be perfect!
