Shaida Posted February 25, 2018 #1 Share Posted February 25, 2018 Hello everyone, This is my first cruise ever. My question may seem silly, but is the water from the tap drinkable in the cabin? I will be sailing on Carnival Liberty. Also, do we have to purchase bottled water each time we want to drink or are there free water fountains on the ship? Thank you so much! CruiserBruce Posted February 25, 2018 #2 Share Posted February 25, 2018 The water on board is as pure as can be found anywhere, and tastes fine. It is definitely drinkable. Drinking water is available at meals and generally around the ship. It is free unless you want a bottle. I would suggest bringing on one refillable bottle per person, to use for wondering around. Sauer-kraut Posted February 25, 2018 #4 Share Posted February 25, 2018 The tap water might be warm, but the steward will keep your ice bucket filled, so you can drink the meltwater from there as well.....its all the same water on board.
paul929207 Posted February 25, 2018 #5 Share Posted February 25, 2018 You can drink the stateroom and dining room water with no problems.
Hllb Posted February 25, 2018 #6 Share Posted February 25, 2018 This is good to know. I would’ve shied away from tap water on a cruise (normally that’s what we drink when going out).
cb at sea Posted February 26, 2018 #7 Share Posted February 26, 2018 The ship's water is great...better than what's in those pricey bottles. It's true the tap water in your cabin will never "run cold" but ice remedies that! Tell your cabin attendant to bring ice daily. Ice water is available EVERYWHERE....your food is cooked with the ship's water, your beverages are made with ship's water, and so is the ice. It's just water...H2O...a simple substance! OCruisers Posted February 26, 2018 #8 Share Posted February 26, 2018 As others have commented .... The tap water on the ship is perfectly fine to drink. You will be served regular water at no charge in the dining room unless you order some sort of special water. Enjoy your cruise! :)
Rare Keith1010 Posted February 26, 2018 #9 Share Posted February 26, 2018 You have been given great advice. Water is fine on board and as mentioned bring a bottle to use to fill it wit the water to take ashore with you. Have a great time. Keith
Pudgesmom Posted February 26, 2018 #10 Share Posted February 26, 2018 Do your homework on your destinations as some may not have drinkable water or ice or you may want to avoid some foods.
ggtjr Posted February 28, 2018 #11 Share Posted February 28, 2018 You can also bring one 12-pack soda per person. I'm sure that would also include bottled water Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-T337A using Forums mobile app

marshhawk Posted March 1, 2018 #13 Share Posted March 1, 2018 Yes, water on the ship is fine to drink but physiologically I have to drink water out of a bottle, so I pre order it to be delivered to the cabin on the day we sail so that I have something to take my meds with. And I can carry around my bottle the next day, and fill it up with juice in the morning. Guava papaya juice is fantastic. But only served in the mornings. Or I can take my un opened bottle with me when I leave the ship, and sip away while I am on the beach.:D To get a better understanding however of where all that water we use on the ship comes from I suggest that you do a ship tour (usually on the second sea day) pricey, but by far the best "excursion" we have ever done, except for the submarine in Grand Cayman. Have a great cruise~!

CarolinaGirl2010 Posted March 5, 2018 #17 Share Posted March 5, 2018 No water fountains but you can get water or iced tea in the buffet area anytime to take with you. Last time we bought a carton of water bottles from Carnival, I think it was 8 bottles, for only $4.50 for our cabin.
newcruiser1956 Posted March 18, 2018 #18 Share Posted March 18, 2018 It is drinkable but I felt it had a chlorinated taste to it. I bought the water bottle package when I booked. They were waiting in my cabin when I arrived.
shadow8800 Posted March 22, 2018 #19 Share Posted March 22, 2018 Like was mentioned above, if you want some bottled water you can pre-purchase cases of 12 bottles from Carnival and they will deliver it to your room. Tap water is just fine on board the ship [emoji4] Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G935A using Forums mobile app
rchenier Posted May 1, 2018 #20 Share Posted May 1, 2018 Is this the same for all cruise lines? We will be sailing on Royal Carribbean's Radiance on the Seas Southbound Alaska route at the beginning of June and I drink quite a bit of water (100-150oz per day) and want to make sure I can just bring my refillable water bottle and drink plain water from the tap. Are you asking if the tap water is safe on all lines? Then the answer is yes. There are strict sanitation rules the ships have to follow. You may want to get your water bottle filled at locations other than your cabin sink, as nearly every water dispenser (buffet, at the wait stations in the restaurants, bar guns, ice makers) use a carbon filter to remove the chlorine (for maintenance reasons, not taste) that improve the taste of the water if you are selective about that. Nebr.cruiser Posted May 5, 2018 #22 Share Posted May 5, 2018 I drink the ship's water all the time. Is it as good as my pure well water at home? No, but then I don't care much for any chlorinated 'city' water. With ice, it is fine and the steward will keep you supplied with that. I usually bring a few water bottles on board and refill as needed from the sink, then keep them in the fridge. I have never seen a water fountain on a ship, but all eating venues will have water and you can get a glass of water at any bar as well.
