Most of the other cruise lines offer wonderful promotions and perks, albeit, free drinks, or other perks....where you actually feel like you are receiving something from the cruise line....why does Carnival never do this.....My PVP was calling me EVERY DAY and filling my voicemail up....with their HUGE PROMOTION....of reduced deposit....Really? I'm sorry....what am I gaining out of that ...if I book right away? Does reduced deposit bring the price down....is there anything free here...hmmm. NOPE!

Occasionally you'll find OBC offered. You may also find reduced fees for 3rd/4th guests from time to time. But that's about the extent of it. I agree that reduced deposits are really a sale.

BTW, check with other sites to book your cruise, you can find offers that you mention, free gratuities, OBC, etc. We shop around, got cruise next year on Horizon we booked with Costco Travel, we receive $200 OBC plus $230 Costco gift card after the cruise. And booked early as price for same cabin group is now $350 more than we paid.

Companies don’t have sales or promotions to make their customers feel like they are receiving something extra, they do it to sell products that aren’t moving as fast as they would like. If a company doesn’t have incredible deals, it means they don’t have to resort to that, in order to sell their product.

I think the early saver rates(especially with reduced deposits)while not for everyone, have been a great boon for Carnival,it’s allowed them to lock people in to a cruise and offer the passenger price protection until a couple of days before sailing. That has allowed them to not have the last min sales or 0% solo supplement sales that other lines have to offer to fill ships.

Hi

It looks like you understand, Carnival doesn't do that. The way you have approach this situation is, when looking at a cruise, if you find that another company provides a cruise itinerary that you like and the price with the "freebies" is better than what is offered by Carnival calculating what you have to pay for the extra amenities, then you should book the cruise with the other cruise line. Quite easy, really.

There are many choices for all kinds of people looking for different things, aren't we lucky. :) One of the things about those "freebie" promotions is that often you need too book a certain class cabin to qualify. When you look, it's clear that you are "paying" for the extras. That's fine if they are things that you want. If you don't want a drink package, don't want an internet package, don't want a balcony cabin, then purchasing such a package would be paying for a lot of things you "don't want".

As you shop carefully for any other product, you need to do the same for your vacation. What they are doing is upselling right from the start. Just like when you are offered something for ten dollars, but if you buy ten you can get it for $90. That great if you want ten, if you want one that would be silly.

Carnival knows what they are doing, I wouldn't expect any sort of change in the near future. I agree when they call or email with promotions, they aren't trying to offer you some special sale. They are just trying to remind you that they are there and maybe you might consider another cruise.

I have looked at other lines with their "free" drinks, "bogo", etc. Due to the higher cost of the initial fares, they many times are still more expensive than Carnival. I've decided that I will plan my vacation & if I am paying a bit more or a bit less due to what itinerary I want, then so be it. Most of my cruises end up being on Carnival, but if the itinerary/price is right with someone else, I'm good with going with someone else. I just have to convince all my travel companions as well.

Lots of good information in this thread, but it’s really quite simple. Carnival doesn’t need to offer them because their ships are filled without them.

That’s why I’ve cruised celebrity. One of my celebrity cruises I received free drinks, gratituties and $300 OBC and it was still cheaper than carnival.

I don’t have any loyalty to a cruise line. My loyalty is to my money. I have a cruise line that I like more but they’re pretty similar.

How do you know it is free? Because a headline told you, or because you legitimately saved money?

One of my favorite things about Carnival is having a low fare, which allows me to spend the difference on things that interest me. Too many cruisers are obsess way more over a financial "feel" than a financial reality.

We compare overall costs.

In addition these days we want to see the world and unfortunately Carnival does not go there.

Carnival gives nothing for free. That is why we want NO part of a PVP.

For me the perks on Carnival are the repeat bounceback cruises through the casino:

Going in two weeks on Pride for port charges in a balcony cabin plus $200 OBC and DOU (free drinks in casino):)

I have the same deal on the Sunshine on 9/29.

My experience with Carnival has been much different than yours. Being avid Celebrity cruisers, my last 5 cruises however have been with Carnival, all complimentary sailings.

Dear susan1957,

A great Benefit you did not post is: Carnival has a Shareholder Benefit. It is valid on all of the Family of Lines Carnival owns. All SHip Trips.

A suggestion: find a Travel Agent / Agency ASTA. Your dealing with Professionals who work for you.

Lower Rates, higher benefits, and many other items...

Ok, I've always wondered (an hopefully you can answer this off subject question haha) exactly what do you spend in the casino to get casino free perks? Is there a certain amount that qualifies you or do you know? Thank you and sorry if I'm being too nosey.

I honestly have no idea how they rate people for casino perks and 100 people will give you 100 different answers.

Some offers are better than others and I've found the bouncebacks are best for me. I play slots and don't consider myself a "high roller" but I spend a lot of time in the casino and was once told that people are rated on time and $$ spent, not exactly "how much" they spend.

It's fun for me, more so when I come home a jackpot winner...$$$$$:D

Yes. It isn't how much you spend, as in it doesn't matter if you win or lose.

It's a secret, but the more you bet the bigger the perks. Minimally if you rack up 1500 points you'll get free drinks in the casino. It goes up from there. I'm not a big gambler but hit the 1500 points once and have now received some smaller casino offers. Never received any before that. coincidence? Maybe....
