Minimum amount to gamble to get casino rate offer?

My DB and SIL will be on their first cruise to Alaska next year.   What is the minimum amount they need to gamble to get the casino offers.  I know they won't gamble enough to get a free cruise but they may gamble enough to get the casino % off offer.  My husband and I gamble about $100 each most nights and receive the % off offer.   Can they gamble a lesser amount and receive the discounted rate?  I have searched the board can't find this answer.  If they enjoy this cruise (which I believe they will) they are planning on going on a Caribbean cruise in the winter.

My experience...YMMV

We gamble when we have non-refundable OBC. Had about $30 to blow. Used the one-armed bandit and played a little. Actually got up to the point where we had about $35 or so. Cashed out.

A couple of months later while looking for a cruise, when I clicked the price almost at the end of booking...the price dropped about 30%!! I called Princess and was told we had a "casino offer" that was good for a limited amount of time. We booked 5 cruises.:classic_biggrin:

The answer to your question is...no one really knows.

We've used the casino about 15 times and gotten the offer once.

I wonder if one has to play table games as opposed to the slots (except you didn't have to do that to get the casino rate).  We've been on 30 cruises and I usually pay the slots with $50 to start.  Usually I win often enough to keep me "occupied" over the course of the cruise + bingo every time it's offered (but I don't think the latter counts).  Never have gotten a "deal" on a cabin. :classic_angry:

$50 played is not going to get many offers - you will accumulate more points on on slots than table games.

We play 2-3 hours a night on most of our longer cruise and always get a casino rate (unless we are traveling on a sip and sail deal which cannot be combined with the casino rate).  We also qualify for "free play" after long cruises.  Combined we will have $1,450 in free play for a 4 day cruise in February (going to be playing slots on Princess this year)

The Casino rate is an offer code, and we were told once you got it, you will always have it available but it is space controlled, only so many cabins per cruise.  The Code is CASINO and you have to call in or have a TA request it to get it.  It used to be automatically applied but that changed a couple years ago.  As noted by memoak it is stackable except with Sip-n-sail (Sip-n-Sail isn't stackable with anything) or industry rates.

The rate table:

To get free future cruises or casino cash credit, gambling about $100 per day will get something.  We got a free cruise offer at about $5000 in play (even when she won back $4500).  On Princess it can only be used on a new booking made within 30 days of the end of the cruise on which it was offered - you get a letter on the last day.  If you call the Carnival "Global Casino" line - they may give you some casino cash  on an existing booking.

The 2: CASINO and future offers are not related or tied together.

No idea how they pick CASINO recipients.   It can be applied to new or existing bookings - subject to the limits.

My husband & I are not big gamblers.  He spends $75 on the tables per week, not per day, and he was offered the casino rate but I wasn't.  Go figure.

I heard that Casino ratings are based on the "drop", how much was wagered, not how much was lost or won.

We have never used our cabin key while in the casino, so they have no idea how much we play, or not,  yet we received a casino offer on our March 2018 7 night Regal cruise. $300 pp for the balcony deluxe. Go figure

In my experience whenever I sit down at a black jack table I am asked for my cruise card.  On slots you can play with cash but the only way to cash out winnings on a slot is on you cruise card.

I wonder if there are different casino rates for different passengers?  Or maybe a revised table?

DH doesn't gamble a lot of money but he does visit the casino on each cruise.  We've gotten 30% in the past but on our current bookings, his discount isn't as high as the table above.  For example, we have a Greenland/Canada booked for this summer and our discount for an obstructed OV is 20%, not 30% (or even 35% if they consider it under the Interior category like they do on the website.)  And we have a S. America balcony that is at 20%, not 25%.

The Princess reps say that they don't know what the percentages of the discount should be, they can just see the cruise fare after they apply it.  Don't get me wrong....we are happy with discounts but it would be nice to know what they should be.  Is there a number you can call that handles casino information?

That's strange....I feel like I gamble (slots) about as much or more than others on the boards and have never been offered anything.

Whenever I book a cruise, I just ask for the casino rate and I have never been refused.  We are currently booked for a SA cruise in February and received casino rate along with special offers - no grats, OBC and 300 off airfare.

Same experience for us.  There was one cruise date when we were told that the special rate could not be used, but the following sailing was acceptable so that's the one we booked.

You may think you are spending as much as some one else because you frequent the casino and see many of the same players.  But those players who get great offers are probably playing $5 a pull as opposed to 60 cents a pull.  I only play dollar machines and bet the max so between $3 and $5 a pull depending on the machine.  I have a week on the Regal on 3/31 with a 40% discount on MB mini and $800 in casino cash.

When you make your reservation call and ask if you can get a casino rate.

I can’t image one just needs to ask if they can get the casino rate?  You have to qualify for these rates some how?
