Freedom of the Seas - opening window???

I have been on many cruiseships including a couple of Royal Carribean ships - and I cannot recall anywhere that there are "opening windows" of any kind. I have heard it claimed that there are such things on the "pool deck" of Freedom of the Seas?  Any thoughts please?

There is on the pool deck on Freedom of the Seas. I was just on the FOS in Dec.

These are sideways opening underneath the overhang on the pool deck. Mostly for ventilation.

The pool deck on most of their ships have large windows that slide open on both sides. For ventilation as previously stated. I hope they don't change that.

Sat in front of one on the Freedom last week.

Here are 2 images from a video on the Freedom of the Seas. 

 

These windows slide open. The one photo shows there is some separation from the railing to the edge of the window - at least in this particular area on deck 11.

They have them on the Seranade of the Seas by the pool in the smoking area

If they seal them shut it will be very hot under there. If they put some sort of barrier, it will be ugly. I really hope they do not for the sake of one incident.

 

I suppose you could put a child's feet on the track that the window runs in.

I don’t think they’ll be welding them shut just yet. If they did they’d be admitting there was a design flaw, which there isn’t.

If there is a problem with those windows, there is a problem with the railing on 12, the Promenade deck,  and every single balcony

Sliding windows on Anthem as well along side the pool deck, an I think also in the Solarium along the big round loungers.

The windows in the solarium have been blocked from opening, which was a huge disappointment since I always sat in front of one for the breeze. Not sure why they were blocked, but I think it may have something to do with the air conditioning in there.

Maybe they need to modify all the railings to match the glass added to Freedoms forward sun deck. 😇

Thanks for updating.  My cruise on Anthem was in March 2017, so my recollection could be many things... including outated, or fuzzy 😉

But that won't solve the problem of rails inside the dome.

Well then I guess they may as well weld shut the balcony doors and not allow anyone on balcony's.
