Tell me all the good things about Medallion cruises

I personally do not like those ideas and will probably when I board  later this month, go to guest services and ask them to give me a cruise card instead and turn off the medallion so all of the above won't be happening.  Just tapping the cruise card on the ipad to open your door is no big thing and I would personally just use the medallion for that and nothing else.  The Princess contract says I should be able to do this, so just hoping I can.

1. I do not see how being greeted by shop personnel is so horrifying, however a simple inexpensive RFID pouch  will stop this horror.

2. Not everyone will know where you are (or particularly care for that matter) , you control that. In any event you can avoid that with the aforementioned RFID pouch.

Don't forget about playing the cool little adventure game on some of the big panels.  It's kind of a treasure hunt.  A good way to learn your way around the ship and have some fun.  We got a MedalionNet t-shirt upon completion.

People stare at their devices enough on land, it will be interesting to see if that phenomenon spreads to cruise ships.

I have bought an RFID wallet for our upcoming cruise.   Most of the perks Medallion  offers are not of interest to me and I consider some of them to be intrusive. To each his own, but I think Princess is being a bit invasive.  Pleased to hear from this board that they have at least given you the option to turn some features off.

Aluminum foil is cheaper & works great if you don't want to be found or identified.

If you do use it it involves removing it for most things like disemarking, door entry, purchasing items. To me it's just not worth the trouble.

Thsts unfortunate. Have embarked  and disembarked in Vancouver several times, never more than 20 minutes from arrival to checked in and ready to board and disembarkation was fairly quick too..

Personally, we'd never do a cruise early in the season, like the first few cruises in/out of Vancouver as it's always a mess as they get ready for the season, and with Alaska season opening earlier and earlier, and more and more ships, those first few cruises are worse than ever.  That's basic planning though - or if sailing then, just planning to arrive at port later than usual, around 1 or 2 versus 11 or 12. But then, I'm also not one who has to be first aboard.

I was on the a Medallion cruise and witnessed people so involved in their phone that they  1: walked into the glass sliding doors,  2: missed the last step on the staircase  3:stood in the middle of a walkway trying to read their device oblivious of others walking...felt like I never left land...so sad people can't just turn it off and relax with the sea!
