Casino Rates

My next 2 cruises I was was able to book on the day they were released with the casino rates.  When Europe 2021 and now yesterday for NE, no casino discount was offered.  Anyone know if this is something they wait and do now after seeing how well the cruise is selling?

Throughout the years, we've inquired about certain cruises and there was no casino rate available.  I can only speak to my own experiences, but have not seen a cruise switch over from no casino rate to having a casino rate down the road.  But, your presumption that they may offer it if the ship is not filling up quickly might be valid.

We seldom sail on any of the newer ships ... so usually that rate is available whenever we've booked.  Are the sailings you are looking at on one of their newer ships??

I received an great casino rate on a Panama Canal for January on the CB and an even better one on the first TA of the Enchanted.  The ones I was looking at yesterday were 2 different NE/Canada on the CB.  My TA said she'd keep an eye out for me but I have no idea if the rates change mid-stream.  Be interesting to find out.

No doubt this has been asked and answered many times before, but I just cannot find it.  We have a terrific casino rate discount with HAL....basically 30% discount on any cruise we book.  Saved thousands over the years.  What do we need to do to qualify for the Princess casino rate.  Yes, we do use the casino daily on all of our Princess cruises.  Or, do you know who we should contact in this regard.  Thank you!

Your travel agent can tell you if you have a casino rate when you go to make a booking. Agents typically don't add the code in unless you ask for it. You may already have it and don't know it!

I too normally receive a nice casino discount, and just booked a 2021 NE sailing. I too was told that  currently there is no casino discount, although I believe the casino department isn't looking that far ahead yet and will discount the sailing at a later date. I made the booking anyway.....with over 760 days for things to change. I believe the same thing happened when I initially booked the NE cruise we took just over a month ago. I booked that one far in advance as well, and was eventually able to combine my casino discount with the 3 for free sale.

I've only sailed once with HAL and they offer me free cruises on a regular basis, but Princess gives me the standard 35% off of an inside. I once asked a casino manager to look into this for me, but nothing ever became of it.

We get the casino rate pretty consistently on Princess and was booking a sailing on HAL ... but, nothing offered for us based on any land based casino status or any other cruise line status.  I asked about it but, they told me those discounts just don't cross over.  I have to prove myself on HAL before I can get any discounts.

I seriously doubt that I proved myself on HAL, yet every month I get a list of free or highly discounted sailings.

It's too bad we're not retired yet, otherwise we'd have the time to take them up on these offers.

We are retired and live near a port, but one used by Princess and they never send me a list of free cruises....but they give me some good discounts that I can use with certain promotions.  It does keep me dedicated to them, I guess.  A little variety would be nice, though ... but, ultimately, we go for the better deal every time.

We booked a cruise on the last day of the Landmark sale two weeks ago and got the casino discount applied.  The only time in the last couple of years that it hasn't applied was when we tried to refare one of our cruises under Sip and Sail.  Buried in the fine print of that promo was that it couldn't be combined with casino discounts.  Maybe the promo you booked under had a similar restriction?  I would hate to think that they were discontinuing those discounts which greatly offset / eliminate my slot machine contributions!  🙂

we receive flyers in the mail from Princess offering casino rate and casino monies.  When I tried to book an Alaska cruise, they told me that it wasn't available.  Later a flyer came with an Alaska cruise - but the casino rate (discount off) was much lower than doing one of the others (20% off inside, not the 35% off).  I booked a round trip out of LA to Alaska for next May.  I would love to book a British Isles, but I will be on board Royal next month and will check it out then.

My TA told me that one can't use the casino discount and the Sip and Sail.  For my cruise in January, the cabin discount was more than the cost of the S & S,so we just stuck with the discount.    I don't think they are discontinuing, just limiting the cruises that it can be used on.  I've decided that I'm not going to book a cruise for 2021, I'm going to wait and see what offers they send me.  I got a great mailing yesterday for casino discounts/VIP cruises for 2020 so I'm hoping they'll do the same thing for 2021.

As far as I know the sip and sail promo is the only one that you cannot use your casino rate on.

So far!  I am hoping they aren't starting to do that with other promotions.  We have gotten a casino discount with Sip and Sail in the past.

I used to get the mailed offers all the time and was able to book a few cruises using casino rates.

I moved to another town about Six months ago and no offers since.  I did go in and made sure my address was current on my Princess.  Has this happened to anyone else?

I received a few in the mail years ago but no more, but every time I call I ask and I do get casino rates. I took a 7 day in June on a casino rate that was silly cheap.

I have to wonder how much people gamble in order to receive 35% casino rate discounts. Are you all "regular" gamblers who gamble each day of the cruise? Do you do table games or slots? I've heard the slot activity was "tracked" more than the table game activity. Does the casino rate discount make up for "contributions" in the casino? I don't contribute much to the casino but do hit the slots a bit. I don't gamble enough to get noticed by Princess and offered a discount but am truly curious about the amount of gambling necessary to receive such offers.

We generally play slots and table games 2-3 hours a day at least. So on a 15-24 day cruise you play quite a bit. Sometimes we win big and sometimes we lose but always have a great time.  We get the fare discount for most cruises and “free play” between $50 and $750 depending on how long our last cruise was

I got it and I was playing a couple hundred per cruise.

There are Casino offers and there is the CASINO rate code that gets discounts on a quantity controlled basis.  The 2 aren't the same.  The "casino" department controls and they don't seem to work cruises more than a year to 1.5 years out for the CASINO rate.  You may have it and don't know it - you do have to ask.

The S&S promo specifically states it can't be used with CASINO rates.

CASINO discounts:

So it is possible as noted to be better off taking a S&S promo in lieu of CASINO rate.

I see these and I find it interesting.  I got my TA in 11/20 for less than half than the going rate.  I can usually get a suite for less then the posted rate of a mini suite.
