Good morning ,I hope we are all happy today .

Most people claim they support recycling, that is until someone reposts a joke.

You never hear them smashing up their record collection saying "I heard that one before"

Even the Army have top ranking officers who oversee recycling ...

What do you call a high ranking soldier in charge of recycling?  General Waste.

Have you ever tried sorting out loads of old shoes into pairs for recycling ? It's sole destroying :classic_unsure:

Talking of recycling lets see if I can Recycle some happiness .

Today we are having Motown weather...Three degrees... Four, tops !

We really do have 2.c at the moment and clear blue sky and a bit nippy  At least the wife woke up with a big smile on her face this morning. All thanks to my felt tip pens of course. It never fails !

At least the snow has gone and the roads seem clear , just listening to the local traffic news and apart from  a lorry load of Vicks Vapour Rub has crashed and overturned on the M18. Police are saying that there will be no congestion for at least twenty four hours, so that's good news. I know it's a old one but I still think it's funny .Some things I see, when I can get out can be funny to some people. I once saw a sign that made me wet  myself, It said ...  "TOILETS CLOSED":classic_unsure:

Some asked on these boards " What do you do during this lockdown? " With all this bad weather I have been watching a few films ,What's my favourite? ....Without a doubt, my favourite Robin Williams  film has got to be ....  Mrs       Fire.:classic_wacko:

I hope you all have a safe and happy day ..Keep smiling and I will leave you with this little thought to ponder on ? :classic_biggrin:   ...........................

Is it true that an apple a day keeps the doctor away? Or is it one of Granny's myths?

Morning Ann, John is going back to work tomorrow 😱 The first day he could have gone back was yesterday but he wasn’t happy to do that. It was due to be his rota day off today so his manager suggested he goes back tomorrow. He told them he couldn’t guarantee he’d be working very speedily and the manager told him to go at his own pace. I’m a bit worried he’ll overdo it but we’ll see. Seems he got a mild dose ( I hope, bit reluctant to say he’s recovered yet) but his main symptoms were a cough, lack of appetite and very tired.

I think I may have had a milder version of John’s symptoms but didn’t get a test. Hopefully my vaccine protected me even though I only had it a week before John got ill.

It’s my afternoon shift today and the sun is out so we’re going to take a gentle walk in a while.

Thanks for the update.Glad you are both feeling better.Hope John is ok at work tomorrow.Take Care

Well, I suppose we could invite KTS along to make up the numbers.😃

And just to cheer you yet further, press briefing tonight at 5pm with Ms Patel - apparently we're all goin' to get a jolly good talkin' to.😅

I particularly liked the word talkin’!  A few of them are doing that. They must imagine it sounds posh, like something out of PG Wodehouse.

Looks like being a nice, if nippy, day here.  Sun is already out.

How is everyone?  Bearing up?  I’ve been feeling pretty down this last few days, mainly personal/anniversaries which aren’t happy, etc, but as the end of January gets closer I will pick up.  Sunshine will help.  (Should have been in The Canaries on Iona 😢)

From a wider viewpoint, I am not as optimistic of the vaccine programme and government measures (pseudo lockdown etc) as I was previously.  And of course it’s a worldwide issue, too, unless you are fortunate enough to live in New Zealand.

I’ll revert to “Enjoy the Moment” strategy.  Don’t look too far ahead, because it’s just not possible to know what’s going to happen.  As for cruises ... well, it doesn’t look promising to me.  All holidays are precarious and cruising must be precarious +++. Personally, I find the prospect of planning and being disappointed more demoralising than setting my horizons lower - but that’s just me.  If it suits to plan and hope, then go for it, as long as you accept it may not happen

... and a very minor whinge, in comparison.  I see ‘Housekeeping’ has been busy around the site.  It doesn’t half put people off, when they take the trouble to tap out a post, or start a new topic, to have it whisked away.  I expect I’m being too precious ...

I should add that I appreciate that Moderation is a difficult and thankless task.  I know I would be useless at it

Have a good day everyone. Hope the sun shines for you

If moderation was moderate and considerate of the individual forum I might have more sympathy for their job.

You do realise written in the rules ,it is against the rules to openly debate any actions taken by a moderator. :classic_ohmy: I think our mod is not only a TV star but very tolerant with some of the posts that get put on here ..Slanging matches between Tory and socialist views between a certain couple for example.

They have been doing a good job keeping the fake anti-vax posters at bay and the more recent posters who think it's funny to come from "other cruise boards " onto P&O .Simply to wind people up or disrupt on here because there boards are simply dull and boring at the moment .:classic_unsure:

That would be fantastic news if your treatment gets going and is successful Kalos and you and Mrs Kalos could cruise again.

Absolutely, Absolutely agree.

Our host is fantastic and most of us respect this hence the friendly posting among us.

Everyone is welcome to join our friendly group but if they have just come on to cause trouble it is best not to answer them and report their posts if they cause offence or post personal insults.

Her constant mentions of "house parties" are also reminiscent of Wodehouse. Perhaps she's a fan.🧐

Lots of positive thoughts for you Kalos.  I think you’re right that it’s best to keep well away from hospitals at the moment, if you possibly can.

I’ve enjoyed living in the moment this morning.  TV cricket from Sri Lanka and Australia.  Lots of sun on view.  Then a walk to the fish van - the long way round, so a good walk for the dog and then free-running for her in the cricket field.  There was another pup her age and size, so she had a grand time, which ended with her tongue no longer fitting her mouth 😀 - always a good result for a dog!  Got one of the fish man’s home made fish pies for our tea/dinner/supper, so that will go down well with very little work required.

The sun has been shining from sun-up.  The blackbirds were singing beautifully.  It’s a nice day and a pretty good one

Had a delivery of my new vacuum, the expensive Dyson one having given up the ghost after 3 years.  Shall have a clean house now.  Is it me being mean to my vacuums or are they the least reliable of household electricals? I seem to have had (and killed) dozens of vacuums but I could tick off the washing machines I’ve had over nearly 50 years on the fingers (no thumbs) of one and a bit hands (I’m on my sixth), from a twin tub to an all-singing, all-dancing combined washer drier.

Pritti Patel? - Pretty Awful if you’re askin’ me 🙄

PM @ 5 🤡

Oh dear

Perhaps he is going to say " remember all those posts 10 days ago on cruise critic?. Over promising, underdelivering. Unrealistic targets etc. Well today's number vaccinated is overdelivered and underpromised".👅

Just done the weekly shopping run. Shops eerily quiet for a Friday, and pretty good availability of most  most things. Lots of French cauliflowers in Tesco, but I bought a UK one in Aldi !!

On a depressing note, I had to buy an "In Sympathy" card for a neighbour. Absolutely not a card of that ilk to be seen. Makes you think!

Ditto, except mine was a delivery this morning; all present and correct. Hope Eglesbrech's supplies have improved.

Talked to a florist friend this morning and she is rushed off her feet with funeral flowers. Desperately sad.

Where we can and afford to ,Buy British our farmers also need our support in these difficult times.

So good on you Wowzz, every little helps as Tesco would say but not today..eh ? :classic_wink:

Also when a neighbour passes away it can get some getting used to. We had an old guy in the bungalow opposite us pass away in the autumn. He had lived there for a few years. Now the bungalow has a new owner, it still feels strange not seeing the old chap there.

Just to say, whilst I remember, that Richard Osman’s book, The Thursday Murder Club, is being read on Radio4, 10.45 - 11pm, Monday to Friday for the next 2 weeks, starting Monday coming

I finished reading it for myself last weekend, I think.  It was fine.  I thought the “denouements” were a little weak but by the time I’d got to the end I was happy with the characters etc.  I’d quite like to have it read to me!
I see he’s sold the film rights.  It will be a good film - I can imagine the British acting ‘national treasures’ who will take the senior citizen roles.  Judi Dench as Elizabeth, for sure, Michael Caine as Ron, etc
