Royal Caribbean Cruisers -- How Are Things Where You Are? (was "Routine" 😁 day in lockdown... how was yours?)

@Ozark_Kid I just read through your excellent Alaska live  cruise trip review from 2022, again.  I was reading posts about exploring Sitka on foot and your live review was linked.  We will be cruising Alaska in the same month (May) so it was interesting to read about the weather you experienced, as well as your port activities.  Hoping to get an up close eagle photo similar to the excellent one you took.

@aussielozzie18 Check out the Alaska Raptor Center in Sitka.  It is on the far side of the Sitka National Historical Park.  You can walk to it from the town center and marina.  You have to take a free shuttle from the ship to the town center.  From there, you can walk along the shoreline and it leads you to the historical park.  Walk through the park, cross Sawmill Creek Road and up the hill to the Raptor Center.

The Raptor Center is where they rehabilitate raptors including eagles, educate the public and research.

@DaniDanielle Happy Birthday to you, Marietta! 🎂🎈💐 I love your granddaughter’s Snoopy sweatshirt.

Our view today from Vision of the Seas.  We’re somewhere off the coast of Florida heading to Labadee.  One of my favorite spots on the ship.

Also, I just discovered Emerald Lake is likely to be frozen whilst we are there (although there are other things to see if we hire a car and drive up rather than the train).

Emerald Lake is amazing. But, we were there end of July, and it was a very hot year in Alaska. On our way there we stopped several times and what we saw from Canada was a sheer beauty.

We were booked with Dyea Dave tours for a very reasonable price, 7 hours tour. I wanted to post you the link, and sadly found out the Dave has passed away and I assume "no more tours". He waited for us at the pier, colorful personality.

I guess from living in the US, was always only  3 sports when growing up. Baseball, Football and Basketball.

There was no ice rinks to play hockey on, only ice we ever saw was when growing up when the pond down the street would freeze hard enough to skate on for 4 or 5  days each winter.

Other extra sport besides Hockey was Soccer, but that was during the same season at when I was playing Baseball growing up.

Even the Hockey season now to me is just like a week or 2 before MLB season starts up, so hockey was never that big of deal for a young boy growing up on the East Coast of the US.

Same for me.   My Dad and Brother primarily watched or played baseball and footballl while I played softball.

Hockey was not a sport watched in my house nor do I recall any local ice rinks until I got older.

Now Eric's Brothers got into hockey as teenagers once we had an ice rink about 15 or 20 minutes away from home.

Once I married into the family I was then introduced to hockey and went to several games but that has faded and he hardly ever watches Flyers game after his Brother died on a military mission overseas.

My Portuguese friend posted this today, to give her friends & family an idea of just how vast Australia is:

I saw this one the other day, for people who are more US centric.  In cased it's not obvious, that's Alaska, California, and Texas.

@DaniDanielle belated Happy Birthday wishes to you!

We returned home last night from our quick trip to Disney for race weekend.  As expected, Cristina finished the full 26.2 mile run, her first full marathon.  Jessica’s goal was to make it from the starting point in Epcot to the Magic Kingdom which is 10 miles and she was able to do that. Not bad for being almost 5 months pregnant.  Ali’s goal was to beat per personal best of 13.1 miles; she made it to mile 17 before dropping out.  A few pictures from the weekend.

After disembarking yesterday, we traveled to central Florida to visit with a couple friends.

We have never been to this place before.

Love the pictures. Happy you all had a lovely time. Your daughters are lovely and grand kids are so cute. I recognize the two boys from a cruise review you did earlier.

So we are a house divided!  I am an Ohio State Buckeye fan and my DH and DS are Michigan Wolverine fans and we live in Michigan so I have double minority status.  Needless the say, until recently things have been very good for me and not so for them.  Now the pendulum has swung!  Last night I was happy for them winning the college football national championship (sorry @Husky1987 Larry 😪)!  But today I am back to being bitter rivals 🤣!

Fun fact:  Ohio State won the first CFP (in the four team format) and Michigan won the last!

I’m sure it’s nothing like what my good friends here are getting up in the Northeast but here in Kansas City this is our first big snowfall of the year.

I love being retired. Normally I would have gone into the television station at 3am to do early morning live shots out in this stuff. Now I will sit comfortably on my couch and watch the youngsters shivering out in the cold.
