Royal Caribbean Cruisers -- How Are Things Where You Are? (was "Routine" 😁 day in lockdown... how was yours?)

Recommended Posts

@Arzeena I am not sure about crossing paths somewhere. Do I look familiar to you?

I have been told by a friend that she has seen a doppleganger of me. Maybe I look like someone you know.

I have lived in NY all my life. Grew up in Queens and,for 38 years on the North Fork of LI..

Are you from NY?

It would be a small world if we knew each other.

Just a thought... Have you cruised with a group of friends on RCI ships out of Bayone? Friends of ours from Floral Park were part of a group that did that together. She mentioned that one of her friends posts on CC.

Maybe that is it !

Curious-

I get that occasionally.   I usually have to close down (app on phone or window on laptop) and then go back in. Curiously,  I always remain logged in.

I was able to click thank you/like and then I got that error message again. Thanks to those who advised to click restore.  It worked!

That's right.  Thank you. 🏆 I knew it was a Christmas show but just couldn't remember which one.

Thank you for the song.  Sweet encouragement.

Does Gus usually try to get the birds? Any success? Hopefully not, but I know that’s what cats do.

Our neighbors' cats always sit under our birdfeeder, making chirping noises and expectantly waiting....like they are going to fall out of the sky or something. :classic_biggrin:

Poor Bobby gets so upset that the other cats are outside, and he is indoor only. Although he seems to have finally resigned himself to it. He's not car smart since he came from the mountains where there was little traffic.

As I have mentioned before- this thread moves quickly ! Which is a good thing as it is filled with interesting info and life happenings.

Catching up here with peppers 🌶of different kinds, gas prices (going down🤞),

travel photos (📷) particularity Singapore- lovely @aussielozzie18and York - interesting Graham, and  the favorite cities lists🗒 where some posters have cities in common. And not to forget- Jimmy Buffet!

I will add that today is our 39th wedding anniversary. As a friend texted us today- “Where did the time go? Wasn’t it just awhile ago that I was dancing at your wedding ?”. We celebrated with a late lunch at a favorite restaurant. No food pictures as I don’t think hubby would understand. But it was yummy. Shell steak for him,a half order of ribs for me and a shared upside down peach cake.

Now,we are getting ready to watch the Yankee game. It was a good day!

This is us! MJ🙋🏻and hubby 👨🏻‍🦳

Favorite cities...difficult question.  In no particular order, because I can't order them:

Paris

London

Rome

Hong Kong

Barcelona

I was supposed to visit Florence, Milan, and Venice (any of which may have made the list), but Covid killed that plan.

Same here in no particular order because each city has special qualities

Rome

New York

Boston

San Francisco

London

Anywhere in la Bella France

And looking forward to all those cities and places I haven't visited yet

My friend Ginny update:
98 is a good age to have stayed active socially and always upbeat.
I have never heard her take offense from a perceived slight or give offense to anybody. I think that’s her secret for a happy life.
She is still upbeat according to her closest friend, who updated us.
Thank you, friends, for caring.
mimi

She sounds a wonderful person and a special friend.  How lovely to have such a positive person in your life.  I hope she makes a rapid recovery and can go back to living in her own home soon

The kids and partners and of course little Isaac came over for supper on Friday. Nothing like family 💕

Had a  lovely evening, first time all together at ours since Christmas.   My eldest and family are settling in after their move, so nice having them nearer.

I didn't take any photos but it was a kebab evening!  I did chicken, vegetables and salmon kebabs, all in different marinades, along with sides, salads and puddings.

My sons partner can't eat dairy or eggs due to still feeding Isaac and he is allergic, so I made meringue from chickpea water.  It was surprisingly successful

Today we are back up to London, visiting DHs extended family, so looking forward to seeing them and not having to cook 😀

Just realised I've focused on cities, of course I should add The  Canadian Rockies, the California coast from San Francisco southwards, and how about fav sail in/sail outs?

I loved sail into  Malta, Kotor, Lisbon and sail out, Southampton, Venice and New York

Well. I found out yesterday that I'm getting some company on both my cruises next year!  Sophie doesn't know this yet, but she's coming on my February cruise (this is her Christmas present) and another friend of mine is joining me next October on Celebrity Summit to the ABC Islands!

Yesterday was a busy day for us.  We took our grandson to Sport Clips for a haircut. It isn’t where I go, but my PA grandson and SIL go there.  They gave us the name of the stylist they use, and said to not let anyone else cut it.  I am not sure if it is because she is good, or is the cutest one there.  She did do a nice job on grandson’s hair.

It is probably a good concept to have a sport theme shop, because they had a lot of traffic.  Maybe I am getting old, but none of the guys coming in looked like they needed a cut, but the cuts they were getting were just strange.

After, we took him to The White House.  Not THAT White House, but The White House Fruit Farm in Canfield, Ohio.

This was the day you could pick your own blueberries.

He did manage to find a few big ones, and they were really sweet.

We managed to fill some buckets.

Then headed inside to but some other items.  They had some really large peaches.

We did buy some donuts, but they somehow disappeared before a photo could be taken.

We did get some more bike riding practice in, although we had some afternoon thunderstorms.  Grandson is progressing very well.

In the evening, we were in Sharon, PA for their Waterfire festival.  I believe they are the only place, other than Providence, RI, licensed for this festival.  I know they held this festival in the past in other cities, but I am not sure if those continue.

The Main Street was blocked off, and several craft booths were set up.

The river has several baskets anchored to the stream bed, and each of those are loaded with firewood and set ablaze.

I did manage to find my new diet motto

There was a lot of good food to be had, and lines were long at all the vendors.

What is better than a free festival?  A good Beatles tribute band to enjoy while you eat.

Yes you both kind of look familiar.

From NJ.

Done gazillion cruises out of NY/NJ area. Not cruised as a group. It is just hubby and I, and then you see your mail man, your neighbor, your colleague, your hairdresser on that same cruise! 😀

My friend Ginny update:

Her hip is fractured, not broken, and the orthopedist will not operate because he doesn’t think she’d survive general anesthesia.
She will be 4 weeks in a nursing home and then 4 more in rehab.
We’re hoping she can get into River Garden, Hebrew Home for the Aged that has nursing care as well as rehab.
I was there for 3 weeks of rehab after my hip replacement.
Nowadays they wake you up after that surgery and tell you to go home, you’re done.
The sad thing is that Ginny has always been strong and independent, but she  will not be able to get upstairs to her bedroom after 8 weeks of mostly being in bed.
Maybe she’ll surprise us, but I think her life will permanently change.
It would have changed anyway, because the scans they did yesterday showed masses  in her spine and lungs. No symptoms of problems, but she has always refused colonoscopies and only goes to the eye doctor and occasionally to her primary.
98 is a good age to have stayed active socially and always upbeat.
I have never heard her take offense from a perceived slight or give offense to anybody. I think that’s her secret for a happy life.

Wishing Ginny all the best in her recovery.  Although her life may be permanently changed, she sounds like the kind of person who will quickly adjust and turn lemons into lemonade.

Ok

Question.

The price of our next summers Alaskan cruise came down.

Now when our TA called RCI they told her since we booked and used our Casino discount we are not eligible for further discounts.  Because we got the lowest price.

But ii is not the lower price.

Now of course we will check onboard in two weeks when on Allure.

I'll probably make an appointment at next cruise desk.

Just wondered if anyone has had to go through this.

If using casino discount they are probably using casino rack rate which is always different than what you see on royals website.   Casino rate is usually cheaper so I'm surprised to hear this.

I would ask while onboard your next sailing.
