You may be correct, but I am not sure I see any data on the spreadsheet that supports that conclusion.

I am now officially over 12 weeks from when my cruise was cancelled. I never would have thought it would take this long.
I will keep making my weekly call to push but it doesn’t seem to make much difference.

Our cruise was to depart April 8, 2020 (Odyssey).

We canceled our cruise on March 9 at the 30 day mark so we would not lose our entire payment.

Seabourn subsequently canceled our cruise a few days later on March 13.
We challenged the FCC offered due to us canceling on March 9 - got a Seabourn supervisor involved and she granted us an exception on March 25, allowing Seabourn to approve for us to receive a full refund for entire cruise fare to credit card.

Still awaiting full refund on June 6.

I am exactly 12 weeks also.  I wondered if the disparity between the shortest time of refund (46 days) and the longest so far (89 days and still not refunded) was because it's a case of some people have chased SB or their TA and that means the refund has come quicker, but going by your post and you ringing weekly, obviously not!

I've only rung twice.

I just find it so confusing to have 6 weeks or more difference between when some have been refunded.  Very frustrating.

JPH814 - I shall report back as soon as I receive any monies, and thank you for all your hard work.

WOW - how did you manage that?

I am in the same situation but didn't think of challenging them.

So this is weird.

I did not ask to have my Future Cruise Deposits refunded.  I received two $500 credits on one of my credit cards from Seabourn today so I assume that it is the refund of my FCDs.  I bought the FCDs two years ago.  The odd thing is it was not refunded to the credit card that I used to pay my cruise fare for this cruise (which has not yet been refunded.)  I am guessing this is the card I used to buy them

Hi Paulchili:

I called and spent a LONG time on the phone with Seabourn.  First I spoke to a regular reservations rep.  She told me, "Sorry, you canceled the cruise before we canceled the cruise altogether, so you are only eligible for a future cruise credit."  IMO, this was beyond unreasonable because we canceled on March 9 because of the pandemic - only a mere few days before Seabourn canceled on March 13.  I asked to speak to a Lead.  The Lead came on and listened politely, but eventually told me the same thing: "you are only entitled to a FCC because you canceled before Seabourn canceled the cruise".  I asked the Lead if there was anyone more senior that I should speak to before I escalated this matter.  She put me on hold for a long time and eventually came back saying a Reservations Supervisor approved an exception for us:  we would receive our entire cruise fare refund by credit card.

[Incidentally, our traveling companions on the cruise also got this exception granted (full cruise refund vs FCC even though they also canceled on March 9).]

It's now June 6: our traveling companions received their refund for port taxes/fees weeks ago (we have not received that refund yet) and we are all still waiting for the cruise fare to be refunded by cc.  Repeated calls to Seabourn regarding refund status assure us they are working through the queue...

I'm the same. I thought they would go back to my account. But mine ( 4 FCDs ) are apparently being refunded by check, whether one check or four my PCC doesn't know.

Thank you. I wish the timing would have been better for me.

I cancelled our cruise on 2/27 – too much time has passed.

Besides, I don’t have the energy to fight with SB at this point and it would be most likely futile anyway. SB has not been helpful or responsive at all – I am still waiting for refund of taxes from 2/27 – over 100 days.

I’ll try to make the most of our FCC and put SB behind us and will happily return to Oceania whee we have  25+ cruises

Yes, must have been.  SB told me that, by law, they are required to refund to the original form of payment, even though I told them that the credit card used for the purchase for that FCD has long been cancelled.  SB still had to try, and then the refund was rejected by my credit card issuing bank and bounced back to SB.  So now SB will send me a refund check.

Should be 4 checks, one per FCD #.

After seeing the updated spreadsheet I sent an email to my cruise agent to see if she can check up with Seabourn.  It does seem like odd timing and was hopeful we would see a credit this week like some others.  I assure you I check back here quite often and will definitely let you know when our refund comes through.  Thanks again for keeping us all updated.

Such data is hard to come by. For example, after initiating my credit card dispute, the dispute amount was subtracted from my outstanding balance. That will remain until Seabourn either contests or relents. I won't really know the final outcome of that process for some time, and it will come in the form of a letter from my card company. So, is my refund due to the dispute (what is the date of that?) or from Seabourn (date as well). To really hash this out would take more cells on your spreadsheet, which I am not necessarily suggesting.

The refund of your airline and FCDs is great, and may be a testimonial to your social media (Cruise Critic) presence. Well done and well deserved.

Good news! Received my refund of 13K this am from Seabourn. Included air with flight ease.

7/18/20 cruise.

I cancelled 4/3/20. Before they did on May 6.

Incurred 15% penalty of $1900. Will be a FCC. No communication on that yet.

Transaction date of 6/4/20.  Posted 6/8/20.

2 emails to TA.

2 emails to Seabourn.

1 email to TA company owner.

All email responses were cordial and said to just wait.

66 days to post. 62 days to when Seabourn processed it.

Credit card is Chase Sapphire Reserve.

Hated losing all those points, but feel OK with the process and will book a future Seabourn cruise.

Well folks, I am joining the club of the reimbursed!!!!

 But not quite whole yet...

My cruise fare was paid in three transactions from two different credit cards.  Today I received two payments - one on each card.  But one payment - oddly the final payment made in February - has not yet been credited.  I have an into my TA to have him sort it out because - technically - I pay the Agency and they pay Seabourn.  Besides, when I call Seabourn with a question, they usually say it needs to be addressed through the TA.  And my TA is a great guy and very responsive so I do not mind.

So I am going to hold off updating my data on the chart, but congrats to Wesport and - to everyone else - keep the faith!

We booked in August 2019 for a 2021 Arctic sailing. Asked for a refund in early March (don't remember exact date). After waiting over 60 days per guidance from our agent and Seabourn we finally contested the original charge with Chase, our credit card company. Within ~10 days (we had to provide them more info at first), Chase credited the full amount back to us.

HIGHLY recommend others go through their credit card company to get a faster refund.

Thank you for setting up this string.  I've been following it since the beginning and really appreciate your effort in putting together the tracking sheet.   Of course, I'm one of those people that just observe and never put up a post.   But I have some great news for this group that I think should be shared.   I received my refund in full back to my credit card and it was a little under 60 days.   I had booked directly with Seabourn, no TA.   A credit card dispute was not opened.   I just requested a refund the day SB emailed me with the cancelation notice.  Never received any confirmation or status update from Seabourn.

Cruise Date:  5/16/20

Canceled Crusie: 4/14/20

Refund received:  6/8/20

Hope this helps with the tracking.

Woke up to a full refund on our credit card this morning.  Posted as 6/4 but just showing this morning as I have checked every day.  Thanks again for the thread and best to all as it looks like everyone should be made whole.  I didn't go through my credit card company at all and only just emailed my TA the other day so Seabourn did the process on their time.  Looking forward to booking something else soon.

I was notified by my credit card company this morning that SB has credited my account.  The refund included the cruise and airfare booked through SB.  The cruise planed departure date was 5-23.  I requested a refund on 4-16.  So that is 53 days since I requested a refund.  I didn't go through a travel agent or notify the credit card company.

This situation has been handled very poorly by SB.  The crux of the problem has been lack of communication.  I know it's been an unprecedented time for the industry but they should have spent a few thousand dollars and hired a crisis communications consultant.  This would have gone a long way in maintaining customer loyalty going forward.  This would have been my first cruise with SB.  Maybe time will change my mind but I'm not sure I will be doing business with this company in the future.

Thank you JPH814 for tracking all of this-- very helpful.  I regret that we did not get to meet on our planned 5-23 sailing.

Glad you got the refund.  But it seems you got the refund in about 70 days - which is pretty standard based on other's results.  So going through the credit card company may or may not have made any difference
