Old reviews are hard to search for. I haven't figured out how yet. If anyone knows how to search for them please post the instructions (ie. find the CC member, and look for their activity or which threads they started)

I am no expert on searching here, but I did learn a little trick a few weeks ago.

You can sort the posts in this thread by most views. Then you will notice that Reviews, live ones especially, tend to have the most views. Unfortunately, most of the really popular ones are from many years ago, as this site may have lost some of it's luster after one to many updates. Who knows.

Here are some links to a few oldies but goodies, with just a few recent ones.

And that is a compilation of all the reviews with over 200K views. Without these folks and the time they put forward to share their vacations, CC would be fairly boring.

CHSH1979-

Thank you for that comprehensive list of cruise reviewers/posters.

It is helpful to have so many listed in one post.

Once a review link is opened, more of the poster’s reviews can be found by looking at the list of  reviews under their signatures.

CSHS1979,

Love reading these older cruise reviews.....But unfortunately many of photo links do not work or are taken off ?😢.
I am currently reading Carol's. What a fantastic report, but none of the picture links are working.😢😢😢. How am I supposed to go on a 53 day cruise without the pictures????😭

Carol HELP ! I want to see those pictures from your 53 day cruise!

Actually,  it might be on Carol's end.

I see pics on the Radio Oasis from 2010

There are a few reviewers that I do not think have been mentioned.

I do not have links to their postings, but I do recall their user names.

Perhaps someone reading this may have links.

Shadowmeboy -usually NCL

Mr Met - usually, Princess

Jim_Ian - usually Celebrity I am not sure about the user name. The poster is a gentleman from California that writes about cruises taken by him and his partner, Ian.

Pescado Amarillo- usually Princess. She has a blog with the title,Yellowfish Cruises on blogspot. She and her DH spend most of winter doing B2B Cruises.

That's all very well and nice, but this is a Royal centric board, so I for one kept to the reviews of Royal ships.

You could try the same thing I did and sort the other boards to find old popular reviews

I'm a big fan of @Jim_Iain reviews --

Thank you, Dani ! I remember reading that review from Jim_Iain on the Celebrity board.

Since there was a link to Bimmer09 cruise reports (usually Princess, Celebrity and Azarama) posted here, I thought some readers of this forum may have links to those posters I mentioned in my previous post.

I'll be selfish and self promoting.    These aren't professional reviews, just a guy that loves cruising and loves to talk.   Could only find links to my last three, and the last was on a Celebrity ship.   Hope you enjoy, even just a little.

Allure  -  Feb 2019.....

Symphony - July 2019

Celebrity Summit - Feb 2020

(only a few weeks before complete shutdown)

zdad59-

Not selfish or self promoting at all.You are contributing to an interesting thread.

i see that the last review you posted was of a cruise on the Summit last February. Since this cruise was after the refurbishment of the ship, I will be interested in reading your report.

My DH and I have sailed twice on the Summit, in 2010 and 2018. Both times we enjoyed cruises  to Bermuda. I am hoping to see photos in your report of a improved but familiar ship.

We really enjoyed Summit.   Obviously a smaller ship, but classy and everything was nicely done.

Search reviews by SailorJack, JohnGaltny, maureencruiser and TheDougOut.

Those are my favorites. SailorJack is a fantastic writer and hilarious.

I just stumbled across this old string while self-isolating during the pandemic. JohnGaltny has some great ones and York, I have always enjoyed yours as well.

Hope we can start cruising again.  As happened to many of you, our last cruise was canceled in May  and we are anxious to start cruising again

Thanks for your kind words.    I have to admit that we are suffering from Cruise Withdrawal.   We have never gone this long without a cruise.    We are booked on a B2B2B2B starting in early November.   We have all but given up hope and are just waiting to have them cancelled.

I hear you @SailorJack  Having cancelled October 2020 and January 2021 cruises, our next one could be March of 21.  It will be 1.5 years since our last cruise, if that one sails.

I already have a partial title of my next review in my head... “live from..... It’s been years in the making”. TM😉

I feel your pain.... I remember before the cruise in March, you're constantly looking at your phone fearing a cancellation. And the cancellation came when you're already in the air....

And those cruises "down under" -- a dream itinerary.... We've been on Millie for the Vietnam+Thailand, and the cruise from Sydney to NZ was amazing.

Let's hope that our CW will be as short as possible 😁

This was a great idea, now I have some thing to read....though I have read many of the greats already.  I have started doing reviews, but not to the likes of the greats on these boards. Thank you for the time and effort to make these for us to enjoy and use for future planning! I didn't realize how much work it takes!

We have two cruises tentatively scheduled for next year - one from Cape Town to Barcelona and one from Manaus to Miami. The first one is in May and I am hoping against hope that we will have a vaccine by then. At this point I am pretty sure that we will not cruise again until a  vaccine is available.  All of the safety measures ( while necessary!) seem to take a lot of the fun out of cruising.

Safe Sailing!

Jack

  • 1 month later...

It took some scrolling to find this thread again. I wanted to find some cruise reviews that I haven’t read yet as they are a pleasant diversion from what is going on  in the world.

I am hoping this post will put this thread on page one again as others may want to be entertained by reading posts of past cruise vacations.
