OK, I’m a little confused here and have been for many years on your post here on CC?

Every Hal ship has a casino so why do you cruise Holland America? Or do you just enjoy rattling our Hal CC members?

No problem just curious?

Seriously, why do you continue to cruise on ships you dislike?

First of all this website is called Cruise CRITICS not cruise ship lovers, second I don't mind a casino at all, I just don't want to be on a ship that is built like a Vegas casino!

Why? Because i prefer ocean liners over Casino 'ships'..

Thank you, Sir PMP, for having the courage to admit this on the this forum. I learned many years ago that many of the HAL fans on Cruise Critic  have no tolerance for anyone whose tastes are different from what may be described as the most popular. Just say you are not a fan of over-amplified blues and see the insults you will get.

The only negative reaction I have to this video is that it is too short and doesn't show enough of the ship :)

The Pinnacle class vessels are not going to be for everyone, but I like the design/aesthetic of them.  When I think back to some of the VERY questionable design/fabric/carpet choices that were made when the S/R and Vista class vessels were launched I have to say the newest ships are far more sophisticated, cohesive and elegant, if indeed more modern.  Do they have the extensive antiques and the paintings by Stephen Card prominently placed throughout the vessel?  No, but that is not what these ships are about from a design standpoint.

Hopefully the third time is the charm- we were booked on the “first” maiden voyage 5/15/21, then the “second” on 8/1/21, and hoping the “third” on 10/20/21 will be a go!

Good luck!  We gave up after the first two tries.

I already knew he didn’t like the Pinnacle Class ships. I just was puzzled with the Casino statement. Now I know it’s decor.

When Seth Wayne and Stan Kruppen were doing their monthly status reports they stated some of the old Rotterdam artifact/art were retained. So maybe upon a more detailed tour they may be present?

They may very well be, but the vast majority of art on the Pinnacle class ships has been commissioned from contemporary artists and is more modern.  It is also possible we may see of the art from Rotterdam/Amsterdam that was retained by HAL installed on future newbuilds or retrofitted onto existing vessels.  It will be interesting to see what the reality is.

What a gorgeous ship!  The chandeliers are beautiful  Only thing I'd change is the MDR is too bright for my taste.  I don't like "bright" at dinner.  But stunning ship.

And @Sir PMP, I don't think it has any Las Vegas about it. Some ships do.  To me they did a great job of hitting a "transitional" tone -- old school elements presented in a modern way.

I was not a big fan of the art on the Koningsdam but still really liked the ship.

Thanks for posting Bruce. Nice vid! It does appear they got rid of the big TV screen/the "virtual bridge" at the front of the Crow's Nest

I believe Stan Kruppen stated there were over 500 design changes.

There is a good video tour on YouTube of Rotterdam VI now Fred Olsen’s Borealis.

It looks like she has had quite a big refurbishment with a lot of the original artwork gone.

Hopefully that artwork is now on Rotterdam VII.
