omeinv Posted February 22, 2022 #6 Share Posted February 22, 2022 Yes, but you'll get promo chips/slot credit, unless you have at least Onyx Casino status. Promo chips/credit work like this: You can bet them, and if they generate winnings, it's in cash. But the promo amount cannot be directly converted to cash. Harris Denver, CO You can charge cash to your room on the slot machine. Then take the ticket and cash it out. The charge will be offset by the OBC. Only casino free play is limited.

If I were to charge $100 on a slot machine to my room key and don't play the slots and cash out via a ticket --- Wouldn't it go back to my NR OBC? My understanding was I can only get back cash for winnings.

No, the PP is correct that once you go to a slot machine and put money on it from your room charge account you can then print out the ticket (cash out) and take that to the casino cashier to get real cash. wrk2cruise Posted February 22, 2022 #11 Share Posted February 22, 2022 At least on some ships this loophole has been closed. On Constellation in January there was no option on the slot screen to put money on the machine from your seapass.

LAst cruise on the Edge, I got the promo chips and played craps and black jack. I actually turned the promo chips into “regular” chips and actually made a little money. Then, took them to the cashier for cash. I was going to try the slot conversion on the upcoming APEX. But, not if it doesn’t work, anymore. r2h2 Posted February 22, 2022 #13 Share Posted February 22, 2022 The slot conversion worked for us on The Edge in December 2021. We cashed our total OBC left which was $900.00. The cashier at the Casino paid us in $100.00 bills. It was a very nice early Christmas present!
Rare cruisestitch Posted February 22, 2022 #14 Share Posted February 22, 2022 I’m not sure if loophole is exactly the right word, since the instruction actually appears right on the slot machine how to do that. However, not all ships are set up to be able to do that. Apparently constellation and reflection are not. It has to do with updating the slot machines. Some ships do not have the updated machines, some do.
NCTribeFan Posted February 22, 2022 #15 Share Posted February 22, 2022 So if you wanted to play slots, but hadn't brought a wad of cash, if the machines aren't set up for it, you couldn't play? Yikes! I don't like to carry a lot of cash when I travel. I always put money on my card/in the machine that is charged to my account. FTR, I've pre-purchased some casino credits (both slots and table) using some of my OBC and received a 10% bonus. More free money to donate back to the casino! 😊

I asked our CPP when booking and was told OBC could be used for anything on the ship. Then after receiving an email about using for a shore excursion I called again and she told me they don’t specify how to use the OBC but that it could Not be used in the casino. However, I see in the on board item there is the possibility to buy casino money for slots or table games with a 10% discount. In the T&C it says that you receive promo chips which must be used and that on Roulette and Baccarat no “contra” bets are allowed. If anyone knows what that is I would love to know. We probably will just use some OBC this way

I think you are misunderstanding. All the machines are set up to be able to transfer from your state room account to the machine. The difference is that on reflection and constellation, you must then play that transferred money. On some other ships, you can immediately cash out the transferred money. I like the fact that I didn’t have to bring a lot of cash with me; plus the cash wasn’t considered a cash advance (with interest starting immediately).
wrk2cruise Posted February 22, 2022 #20 Share Posted February 22, 2022 (edited) You can always put slot credit on your seapass card at the casino cage. The issue is when you have non refundable OBC they will do it as promo credit which has to be bet and only winnings can be cashed out. I do call the ability to do it at the slot machine and immediately cash it out a loophole because clearly Celebrity doesn't want you to cash out non refundable OBC dollar for dollar or they would just make it refundable! It does work on silhouette. You’ll have to wait and see what happens on your Cruise
Rare 81Zoomie Posted February 22, 2022 #22 Share Posted February 22, 2022 How do you get the slot promo credit. I always play the slots and have never received $5 when I tap my card on the machine.
Rare cruisestitch Posted February 22, 2022 #23 Share Posted February 22, 2022 The five dollar promotional credit is loaded onto your card. On reflection, they loaded it in the evening but it didn’t expire so if you didn’t play until the next day, it was still there. On silhouette however the five dollars expires. It’s only good between 10 PM and midnight on the day that they load it. They do announce it in the daily planner, but a lot of people miss it. I have never seen the casino do anything but charge the amount you withdraw to your room charge. I do not even think they have access to what type of OBC a passenger may have. If it is Casino Free play that might be a different story. Edit - or it may be if you purchased casino credit in your planner precruise. That is not the same either. That probably does have to be played. I know with slots I have to play it. Edited February 23, 2022 by micruiser2002
