Ncl policy - no straws

On board Bliss now and NCL policy now is no straws anywhere, save Cocos the milk shake place as that would hurt the finances - bring your own reusable if you want thick cocktails

I cannot drink a soda or whatever without a straw.  So, I'll bring my own!

Two weeks back on the Pearl we were getting paper straws in all drinks....I guess it is a very recent change?  (I was on Feb 16-21st)

It's been that way for several years now. Amazon or Ebay sell nice stainless steel ones for not that much.

Forgot to say that they make foldable ones that are easy to carry around one. Come in a small case.

But then how is it 2 weeks ago I was given straws all cruise long without asking?  I guess that is what I am trying to figure out.  There were signs on board that said "No more plastic straws", but nothing that said no straws...

And confirmed that it was PLASTIC straws, not all straws:

wow!!! i hope that whichever ship you are on and whichever itinerary you take, that straws or no straws is your only problem.

Just off the Dawn 20th Feb departure. 
 

No nickel & diming there. Paper straws plentiful as was toilet paper! 😂 

 

but no stock of freestyle dailies to pick up from stand so remember to take your photocopier to copy the one in your cabin. 
 

though I’m sure you could ask for more from guest services. It’ll save on baggage. By the looks of some I think they had their kitchen sink too!

Paper straws readily available on Breakaway as of 2 days ago.

No straws were to be found on the Bliss last week.  We brought our own biodegradable straws, but could not find any straws anywhere on the ship.

This goes back to at least 2019, it had changed at least before my Fall cruise and possibly before I cruised in April.

Nope. Straws were changed to paper straws pre-pandemic. and continue that way. There may be a supply chain problem so none are available on the OPs' cruise.

No it hasn’t - paper straws were available on my cruise in November on getaway - none now

Just off the Joy on Saturday and they had paper straws throughout.

From the posts above it seems to be a Bliss issue, just be prepared - seems very strange however I am glad I have my own straws

if this is your only problem on a cruise, consider yourself blessed. Sorry this post just irks me for some reason. I get it, you want a straw and can't find one and that sucks but go get a spoon and move on.

I bought edible straws  10 different flavours depending on the drink I'm having. I particularly like the lime ones with a long island iced tea

When you asked for straws, what did crew on the Bliss say is the new policy about not having straws on the Bliss?

LOL no straws, for what purpose other than to make some snowflake tree hugger somewhere think they are actually accomplishing something?  I'll bring my own and drop them overboard when I am done with them.

Please do this in front of a crew member so they can escort you to the brig and offload you at the next port

I've not seen where bringing/using your own plastic straw is forbidden only that NCL won't provide them.

It's not the bringing them that was the issue, it was the dropping them over the side (littering) that was...
