The menu for today isn't for me, since I don't eat pork and don't appreciate coconut -- same with the drink -- but Roy's alternative would be OK. I'm actually having chickenless tenders and broccoli, with Riesling, as much Riesling as possible, I think, because of a committee meeting tonight that is bound to be unpleasant and acrimonious, on a topic that I am contractually barred from speaking my mind about.

Someone donated a Wii Fit without its remote control, and it doesn't work without one. I still have three remote controls that don't match anything that was donated, and two wireless mice without their dongles. Does anyone still use a separate GPS (for Britannic readers: satnav) instead of the mapping app on their phone? We have two. Also a nearly antique computer monitor with no power cord that doesn't use a standard one; I'm marking it FREE. On the other hand, we have three very nice, nearly new flat-screen TVs that might sell in the first few minutes. All are hooked up to DVD players or Roku for demonstrating.

Good evening.  I still have not had a chance to read the Daily.  This was one of those days I hope is never repeated.  Just after my last post, while I was on the way to the car, the hospitalist told DH they wanted to keep him a few more days.  They felt there were other problems and wanted to see what they could find. He called me and we were both relieved since we felt he wasn't ready to return to rehab.

I headed home feeling a lot better.  About 30 minutes after I got home, DH called and said he was just told he was being transferred to rehab in 30 minutes.  The cardiologist said he was fit to return to rehab, and there were no more tests to be done.

I spent at least 45 minutes calling anyone I could who I thought could help stop the transfer, while DH talked to people at the hospital.  Rehab agreed to wait until tomorrow to give the hospital time to reevaluate.

After I finished my calls, I quickly packed a bag and headed back to Waco.  By the tiime I got to the hospital, DH told me he was being transferred tomorrow.  And, they were transferring him to a regular room for the night.

I'm  beyond angry.  I'm just glad I decided to get a hotel room for the night.  I'm exhausted physically and emotionally.  I'm so upset that DH was denied a chance to find out what else is going on.

Please forgive the rant, but I don't know how else to explain what is happening.

I would be ranting too. Sounds like left hand and right hand are not communicating. Hope you can get some rest and glad you arrived with a suitcase in hand.

Lenda, you needed to rant and there is nothing to forgive.  I would be scared since it seems like a case of the right hand not knowing what the left hand is doing.  Don't those people talk to each other.

In the case of the cardiologist, it might be hierarchy.  The hospitalist notices something, calls in the cardio guy who says everything is fine.  Of course, that does not comfort the family who doesn't have the background to determine if the cardiologist knows what he's talking about.

Can you talk to the hospitalist who wanted to keep your DH a few days and get his take on what is happening now?   He may be satisfied with what the cardiologist determined.

I doubt we'll see the hospitalist again.  The transfer will probably be no later than 10 am.  We've found doctors who work at hospitals have to defer to the specialists unless the can find a valid reason to ignore them.

Thank you, Susan.  It seems in the medical hierarchy, specialists win over hospitalists who see the patients more.

Just wish I had cardbordeaux in hand too.

Well, good evening dailyites.  I was up this morning way before the Daily starts, and gone by the time it did.  DH had bloodwork in midtown, at 8, not knowing the traffic these days, we figured we should leave at 6:45, and because my stomach gets so upset from my metformin, I have to plan to be up an hour or more before I can go anywhere, so I was up at 5:15.  We got home early, I paid bills and then because we never did replace the mailbox, and I needed stamps, I drove over to the post office, bought stamps (charlie brown stamps) mailed the bills and came home. Picked up todays mail there was another bill in the mail. made lunch, ate lunch walked the dog, and then went to work,.

Worked 4 hours for Asheville and then now I'm in fundraising for Houston symphony until 9:30 each night except Monday and Friday.  So DH got the tv tonight and is watching the umpteenth making of All quiet on the western front.

Yesterday I got a call from Shari's phone.  Kind of creepy-It was her sister, who is  coordinating the service this weekend.   I told her about my last call with Shari, and how confused she was about what she had.  Well, folks , she had everything,  her kidneys had failed,  that apparently had been happening for a long time, she had an infection in her lung (that apparently was from the pneumonia she had last year, but while she was supposed to have a test, it didn't happen because of the failing kidneys) and she went septicemic with blood poisoning from the infection in her lungs) It's sad that with all that we pay for taxes, it does not give us any right to decent medical help.  Or medical help at all in the states.  What she could afford, was a joke, no one accepted her insurance, so she didn't get good docs, and she didn't get cured from anything, and each illness made the next one worse.  And I cried some more.

Chuck has many doctors, but three want me in the room with him, when it comes to his health.  His oncologist, and his heart doctor know that I am his advocate.  They also know that when Chuck fudges an answer to a question, I make a face, and they will re ask it to get the truth. They make sure I am there.  His pain doctor has me sit in, because the oncologist tells her to, she aint too happy about it.  While most couples know to have the other as an advocate, most  young single people don't think about it.  I have Theresa as an added  advocate only because I think that DH might just say, pull the plug.

Hugs to you all today, thanks for the photos, glad that all the cruisers are on their ships, I hope those in pain, can find the help to get through the sickness, and that @JAM37 can find a refuge in the living quarter storm she is in.

Hugs.

My heart goes out to you! It is embarrassing what the medical profession has become. It is hard to fight all the time for basic care!
I would ask what the hospitalist was referring to when he said extra tests were  needed. And why now are they not needed?

Rant all you want. We will listen.
Wish we all could help .

First, this is the perfect place to rant/vent! You need to release that emotion.

And darn, you and Steve have every right to be angry. I hope he doesn’t spend precious energy worrying about what those “other problems” are. He is in the perfect place to find out, so then he can focus on getting better.

Keeping you both in my prayers.

The support and understanding I'm receiving has brought tears to my eyes.  It means more to me than you can ever imagine.  That is what makes this thread so special.  Thank you,  Rich, @richwmn for giving us such an place, and thank you all for making it so special.  ♥️

i still have not read more than the last page.  I tried last night, but I fell asleep before I got through the first page.  Surprisingly, I slept better than I expected.  I guess being worn out helps.  I could have slept in DH's room, but neither of us would have slept well.

Charlene, I really don't know since I was on the way to the car to head home when he stopped by DH's room.  All I know is the little DH told me.  Atm he time we were just so reliefed he would be staying for a few more days as they tried to figure things out.  I guess we figured we'd learn more today.

Just don't get me started on the medical profession who doesn't listen to patients and their families who know what is happening better than they do.  We've seen two exceptions, our PCP and his staff,  and the hospitalist in Mexia.  It's interesting that they are Osteopaths and not MDs.  I guess theyn see people with a problem not a problem which happens to be attached to a body.

Unfortunately, he won't be in the perfect place much longer since he is being transferred back to rehab today.  And I've probably missed the doctor already.  We'll just have to see what happens next.

I guess the worst part is feel8ng helpless and that no matter how often you tell them something, you are ignored.

I'm just catching up on all the posts from last night.  Lenda, @Quartzsite Cruiserwhat a tangled mess at that hospital.  I can't blame you at all for wanting to stay for more tests and to get a better idea of what's going on.  Praying for you both, and hoping someone will start listening to you two.🙏
