But that was a holiday in Singapore before the cruise, holiday in Oz after the cruise and a 14 day sailing for 2 adults with drinks and grats. It was also UK summer holidays so we have to pay a certain price on flights. Didn't do too bad overall.

$27K on "Grand France" with Avalon.  The largest cabin and biz class air.  Scheduled for 2020; hopefully we'll sail next spring from Provence to Normandy.  Without my requesting it, Avalon refunded all our money back then.  Next spring's Grand France is $26K just for the cruise, I've used credits for the air, and points for half to two-thirds on several hotel stays pre and post.  While 'everything travel' is far more expensive today than 2019, I have scads of loyalty points and miles.  And frankly, we're so eager to take a nice trip that I don't care!

Probably our African Safari--at least $6000, maybe more.  It will soon be surpassed by a five week trip to Australia and New Zealand including two cruises and about 10-12 days of land tours/sightseeing.

I've had several cruises with base fares in the $3k range, but I don't think any of them have had more than $2k in extras. Eventually I'll break the bank and pay more.

Verrrrry close to $10k per person all in, but that was my retirement celebration trip in 2019. 24 day Transatlantic in an aft wrap suite on Costa ending in Venice, plus hotels, trains, food, etc for an additional 2.5 weeks in Venice, Milan, Paris, and London. And business class flights home to the US. (Happily, our suite on Costa included a full beverage package, and a separate restaurant for suite guests - so no costs for drinks or specialty dining.)

Define "cruise vacation".  I suppose the most we spent on a "cruise vacation" was when we flew to London,  spent two days, there then Eurostar to Paris, for three days, back to London to spend a week at my sister's (room and meals essentially free) in Herts. before taking train to Harwich to board Celebrity trans-Atlantic repositioning to Miami, then one night in Miami before taking Silver Meteor to NY, then Amtrak NE to Stamford  and taxi home.

Seriously, I'm personally not comfortable sharing that info,  but it would not be anywhere near the higher amounts.

We like long cruises (30+ days) and once onshore we want to see the sights. So a lot and that is why we generally only do one cruise per year.

This summer I did a 7 night Rhone canal barge trip with 10 other women.  The barge part was $6K (our group chartered the barge).  My airfare (Delta One) was somewhere in the $4K range.  Then, add in train from CDG to Marseille and 2 nights in Marseille and that's another ~$500.  I won't add in the additional month I spent traveling between France and Italy, although my ticket to see Andrea Bocelli (the reason I stayed longer) cost 304EU (totally worth it!!!).

I've been on only two cruises, both of which were in 2013. One was a themed cruise to the Bahamas from Ft. Lauderdale, "Monsters of Rock" with MSC. Four women in a balcony room, two of which snore loudly (me and my best friend), and two who loudly complained about it rather than putting in their ear plugs/ear buds with music. (That was fun...) I think the cost PP might have been around $2,000 (flight and hotel room for one night not included)? The second cruise was seven months later with my sisters, and it was to from Boston to Bermuda with NCL. It was one of those free cruises from the casino:  free inside cabin for two people. Since there were three of us, we upgraded to a balcony and split the total cost three ways. I think it was around $1,800 PP (no hotel or flights needed). 

 

I booked a cruise for October 2023:  Canada and NE for 11 nights on the MSC Meraviglia. It's my husband's first cruise AND we're going to be on the ship for 11 nights, so I splurged and went with the duplex suite in the Yatch Club. Total cost is about $11,000. Since we're sailing from Brooklyn, NY, and we live in CT, we'll drive down that morning, so no flight or hotel needed. He doesn't know what kind of room I got, so it will be a total surprise. And since he's never been on a cruise, he has no idea how small the cabins are compared to staying at a hotel. I'm probably creating unrealistic expectations by getting a duplex right out of the gate. LOL

 

I'll admit I kind of winced at spending that amount of money for the cruise next year, and really didn't put much thought into it at all. But as the saying goes, you only live once. We don't have kids and we can pay our bills. It's been a crappy 2+ years between a pandemic, issues at work within my team (I'm a manager), my chronic pain issues that sprang up after lumbar fusion in 2020, loss of several cats, and the death of my 21 year old nephew from a car accident. We deserve to have a great vacation.
