@grapau27 Graham.  I love your food porn.  I just wish I could eat all the food you show in your pictures.  Since I had Covid I am unable to eat very much.  Please keep posting those photos.

Terri

Thank you Terri.

I'm sorry that covid has had such an effect on your appetite.

Pauline still hasn't fully regained her sense of smell and it took us both several weeks for our taste buds to get back to normal after our illness.

Best wishes to you always.

Graham.

Graham @grapau27 your food photos looked delicious.  I hope you will always feel welcome to post photos of any food you want.  The rigatoni looked just like the delicious Ethan Stowell Baked Rigatoni with Italian Sausage we had on Zaandam recently.  I looked the recipe up when we got home and printed it out for us to try at home.  My best to Pauline and your Sarah!

Thank you for your lovely comments Sandi @StLouisCruisers.

I am always happy to post food photos because a lot of people say they like to see them plus I love to see other peoples food photos and port photos too.

I appreciate that, Graham.  I'm usually too hungry and forget to take a food photo so appreciate it when someone has the fortitude to snap a photo before digging in!

I normally don't take food pictures unless it's lobster so I can send it to my girlfriend who says "do not send me lobster photos"

In the it's a small world category, I noticed you added your last name on another thread.  It caught my eye because it's my maiden name.  My grandfather's family was from Alvarado.  I never met him or his family since he and my grandmother divorced when my father was three years old.

That is my married name, and my ex-husband's folks were all from the Florida panhandle -- no connection to Texas at all.  In fact I didn't move there until 1970, back when Dallas (although already a big city) was like a charming small town with actual neighborhoods.  I had one of those bumper stickers "I wasn't born in Texas but I got here as soon as I could".  And in my mind it'll ALWAYS be my home!

Crabs can have  festival if they want to, but I won't participate. I agree that custard filling is preferable, and there are many times that I wish everyone would just be quiet.

I like ratatouille and plan to make it tomorrow if there's time, but I also need to cook both green beans and Swiss chard. Irish coffee would be nice but I'm not likely to have any. Circa 1980 I knew the owners of Elk Cove Vineyards, but my alternative is the 2021 Pinot Blanc from the Anthony Road Wine Company. I have been to Tortola on the Norwegian Epic but didn't enjoy it much--not a beach person, don't enjoy swimming since I can't see without glasses, didn't go to Virgin Gorda. No pictures, because they echo the way I felt.

Update for September 14

A good night last night and a VERY good day today.

I did 3 temperature checks, all below 98.0F.  The REALLY good news was that I had a negative Covid test this morning.

I left the house 3 times, first a partial walk around the block visiting my mailbox.  At noon I made a run to the UPS store and picked up a week’s worth of mail and continued to the grocery for a curbside pickup.  Finally in the early evening I took my trash out to the curb for tomorrow’s pickup.

The sore thrroat was not an issue today.  Other than that just a couple of brief sweat episodes.

Still tired and lethargic but otherwise feeling ok.

I think even without the negative test I was eligible to be in public today with a mask.  I believe that If I’m negative again Saturday I will be ok even without a mask but I will be more conservative than that.  I will still worship from home this week.

I have a cruise coming up September 29 but if I am to go I must take a large bag to be shipped to the ship on September 20 so I will need to make a hard decision on going or not by then.

This will be my final update unless things change.

Roy

Lenda, that's why I miss Texas so much.  Up here it just "mizzles" (mists and drizzles) all the time.  And we NEVER get thunderstorms -- at least we don't here west of the Cascades.  I think that eastern Washington does have them.  Back home in Dallas I could sit for hours watching the spectacular lightning.  Umm, well I'm not too fond of the oddly-colored lightning that precedes a tornado ☹️.

That's something you don't know unless you've been in Tornado Alley - green skies. And the lightening shows are very impressive.

It looks like our rain won't return until about 4 am, and then, go through the morning.  My old fashion rain gauge and DH's weather station rain guage aren't always in agreement, but today they were really out of sync.  The weather station said we got 2.75 inches of rain, while mine read 3.15 inches.  Either way, we got quite a bit of rain.

Good afternoon,

It was a strange day.

Yesterday I thought I was on the way to feeling better with the pain being not as severe.

Well, this morning, despite taking 15 mg of Prednisone I woke up with neck, shoulder and upper arm pain.  Tomorrow I am supposed to lower the dose to 10mg.   Not sure what to do.  I messaged the Doc but have not heard back.

The meds really make sleeping difficult.  I go to bed early and then I am awake at 2 am.  Then i go back to bed at 5 am.  I can’t keep this up.

Today I mixed up two reservations I was trying to make for our February cruise.  I was trying to make  two independent reservations at beach clubs in Cozumel and Costa Maya respectively.  Unfortunately, I booked the Cozumel Beach Club on the Costa Maya Day and vice versa.  What a mess!   One is corrected, but have not heard from the second one.  I just can’t believe I did that.

That shows you how tired I am.

I hope everyone is having a good day and staying safe and well.  Prayers for everyone.

God Bless,

Terri

Terri, I had hoped things were getting better for you.  I'm sorry the pain was back this morning.  I hope tomorrow is better.

While I've looked into my father's family, I don't remember any of them being from Florida.  I just thought it was interesting when I saw your last name.

Dallas isn't as charming as it was 24 years ago when we first moved to this area.  The traffic, especially on I-35E, is horrible at best.

Lenda
