Lines down on our way 2,300 nautical miles to Easter Island. The Peace Boat is in port.

Love Sail Aways. The new Filipino band that boarded today is very good.

I thought this ship looked like a former Princess ship and see it was once the Sun Princess which we sailed on Down Under for 62 days in 2017.  We had a great time.  Now it's officially called Pacific World.  Hope you continue to enjoy your Azamara Onward world cruise, Bruce!

I got home around 4:00 p.m. Now, I was driving out of the Cape Liberty garage at 8:05 a.m. and the driving time from there to here is about 4.5 hours, so why did it take more like 8 hours?

First, the traffic congestion in New Jersey on a weekday morning is beyond belief; I had embarked on a Sunday. Second, I wanted to stop at Total Wine to stock up for my temporary duty as bartender here. Cape Liberty to Total Wine in Totowa should be 30 to 40 minutes. It took more than 90, with satnav sending me on the most circuitous routing imaginable. It is entirely possible that a more direct route would have been even more congested.

Eventually I had to stop, both to drink coffee and to hold my aching head.

It's always confusing to shop at Total Wine, even though I've been to that store several times before. However, it's very easy to enter I-80 from there. Satnav wanted me to take NY 17, which might have been slightly faster, but I didn't relish driving through the Catskills at this time of year.

I needed to listen to a webinar that started at 12:15, so I stopped again just before that and signed in on my phone, using Bluetooth to play it through the car's audio system. It was interesting enough that I barely noticed where I was driving, which I appreciated it because the route on I-80 and I-81 is boring.

Around 2:00 the car started exhorting me to take a break. I don't for an instant believe that it cares one way or another about my safety; I think it's just trying to protect itself. But I stopped again for a late lunch, and before continuing changed into my hiking shoes. WeatherBug claimed that there would be 8 inches of snow on the ground at home, which I didn't believe, either, but there was enough that I appreciated the tread of the hiking shoes.

A consideration in provisioning for the temporary Bev Dept duty is that I won't be allowed to drink at all starting January 28, for 10 to 14 days (from two days before the Mohs surgery until the stitches are removed). Thus, I will be getting a head start.

Good evening from Cork.

It is late on a cold Thursday night here.  I have been missing for a couple of days as DW was not feeling great again and we have been trying to get answers as to possible causes.  This morning she felt a bit better and we met a couple of long time friends for brunch at Blackrock Castle Observatory cafe.  It was a lovely bright day and she really enjoyed meeting our friends but got tired very quickly.

We have final payment  due on Monday for our April Canary Island cruise, so we have some hard thinking to do over this weekend.

Thinking of all our fellow cruisers with health problems either themselves or close to them.

Hope everyone has a great day.

For me shopping at Total Wine is overwhelming.  I would go in for one thing, get distracted and a hour later leave the store often forgetting the one thing I went in for in the first place! Now I place my order online, drive to the store and they place the order in my trunk and off I go. Saves me a bit of money too.

Peace to you both and good health to Ellen 🙏

We were totally blown away the first time when to Total Wine.  A very nice gentleman asked what we were looking for and DD DH told him what.  He led us righ to the area but first he pointed out two of the vintages on sale of what we were looking for.

Placing your order on line is a good idea, but I adored the store.  We’’ll be in Las Olas next time so may need to look into it.

Thanks @kazu for the HAL Fleet report and the Daily.

A very good  quote today.

Temperature here today is 25 C , but cloudy.

Should be  good day for Noordam in Fiordland, the waterfalls should be impressive with the rain.

Had mashed potato yesterday when out for lunch, but not today when we had lunch in town.

@ger_77  so sorry to read of the deaths of your two friends, sending sincere sympathy.

@JazzyV  sensible to cancel the appointment for tomorrow.

@VMax1700  hope your DW  has no further health problems.

@seagarsmoker  hope that you are successful after the third job interview.

Just had an update on Steve, he was refusing pain meds so they did not send him home with any medication, then the nerve blocker wore off and they were able to get the surgeon to call a prescription in at 8:45 tonight and her pharmacy closed at 9!00. She lives 5 minutes away and they were able to fill it. As she said it would have been a long night.

Good evening.  It turned out to be a lovely afternoon and I took advantage of the good weather to take my book outside for a while.  It's a great way to relax.

Good Thursday afternoon to everyone.

I’m a bit late today.  Got up late and then had some stuff to do before going for the ultrasound on my feet.

Unfortunately I had to go to Hilton Head for it and the traffic was fierce both ways.

I was told that i should hear from the Podiatrist tomorrow regarding the results.

Thank you to Jacqui @kazu for the Daily and Fleet Report and to Roy @rafinmd for the maps.

Thank you to Vanessa @JazzyV for the Lists and our comings and goings.  You are so good at what you do.  I am sorry that you are still in so much pain.   I agree with your decision to postpone the Specialist appointment tomorrow, given the horrendous weather forecast.

Thank you also to Ann @cat shepard, Dixie @summer slope in the beverage department and to Debbie @dfish for the wonderful receipt.  Thank you for giving us a main to go with the side.

The days are interesting.  i do not have any customers.  However, I do appreciate the vendors and service providers who have taken the time to get to know me.   As for Maintenence, I agree with Vanessa that when you own a house, every day is Maintenance Day.  I am all for Gourmet Coffee.  I really enjoy a good cup of coffee, especially in the morning. Maybe a second or thrid.

i agree with the quote. However I don’t wish to pass judgement on anyone who does or does not go to Church.

@seagarsmoker i hope you aced the third interview and you are offered the job.  My fingers and toes and crossed for you.

@Quartzsite Cruiser Lenda, My condolences on the passing of your two friends.

@marshhawk i am sorry that Chuck needs further surgery.

If I missed anyone, I’m sorry.  You are all in my prayers.

I hope that all who are cruising and getting ready to cruise are happily enjoying their time at sea or happily anticipating their upcoming journeys.

I hope everyone is having a great day.

God Bless,

Terri

Terri, I hope you hear from the doctor tomorrow, and that he has an answer as to the problem.  Thank you for your condolences.

I have been reading a very interesting non fiction book called Fire Weather about the 2016 fire in Ft. McMurray.  The author also writes a lot about the oil industry in this area. It is a fascinating read. He references the youtube videos of the fire which I viewed and it was frightening to see this fire consume most of the entire town.

@seagarsmoker good luck and I hope you hear positive news about the job.

@Quartzsite Cruisersorry about the passing of your friends from high school. We have a large facebook group from my high school class and it is always so sad to see the passing of my classmates, some of whom I have known since elementary school.

@JazzyV Vanessa so glad you canceled your appointment and got someone to do the snow clearing. Please be safe tomorrow.

@marshhawk sorry to hear about Chuck's need for more surgery.  It is hard to take care of spouses who do defy doctor's orders.

@Kazu glad you also got someone to help with the ice/snow.

@ottahand7 I hope you feel better soon. It is no fun to be sick on a cruise.

I love mashed potatoes but I don't eat them that often since they are loaded with calories. My husband makes very good ones with Yukon gold potatoes.

Thanks to all who make the daily a wonderful place to visit.

Thank you for the condolences.  We were a very close knit class, and it's hard to lose a classmate much less two so close together.  We also have a fairly active FB group.

We don't go to Total Wine often since either in Texas or Arizona the nearest one is one to two hours away.  We've become pretty good at sticking to our list.
