Probably because you booked it during one of the most risky hurricane times [emoji15]

When you live in Florida like I do, there is just as good a chance you will be escaping a hurricane as flying into one. Happily take my chances and celebrate my birthday on the Freedom. Cheers.

We used to fly to port for every cruise. Having moved to Florida, I love being able to drive to port. Funny how differently people can look at the same set of facts. Yes, a hurricane could threaten or hit either place, both or neither. If one drives from a Florida home to a Florida port, one has some flexibility for timing that drive if a storm threatens. On the other hand, to fly one has a rather fixed schedule, subject to the airline’s discretion, and conditions must be conducive at Florida and Puerto Rico airports and on the flight path between.

Wishing you a calm storm season, a wonderful cruise and a happy birthday.

Fair enough.

That doesn’t change the fact that it’s probably the reason you got such a good price. But YAY for good prices! Especially when you have the flexibility to divert your plans in the case of hurricane weather.

Thanks and same wishes for you. Living in Florida does have its advantages. We once had to drive from Orlando from Miami to catch a flight to Jamaica. The Orlando area had been hit by a hurricane and our flight was canceled at the last minute. Thanks to the turnpike, we were able to save our vacation.

Agreed. But $925 for a Jr. Suite for two for a week on the Freedom with $100 OBC is crazy and worth the risk. Thankfully my credit card provides travel insurance.

We are sailing Freedom of the Seas on 9/22/18. Already had a great price on a Junior Suite. Logged on today and saw a significant price drop. Called Club Royale and it was repriced. Saved a total of $466 net after OBC changed from $200 to $100.

Hope others can take advantage.

good for you.

I checked after reading this thread. I was told that it would cost us $100 more to rebook in a slightly smaller veranda ,but we were offered a upgrade to a jr. suite for a mere $2700! So we go as planned, with $2700 extra to donate at the casino.

Indeed, Florida residents got a wake up call last year. We have forgotten the devastation a hurricane brings and the inconvenience to be away home and not able to secure your home. Irma still fresh to our mind at least for a few more year, after that lets the party started lol
