What Do You Do From 6:00 to 8:30?

On our previous cruises, the theater show for late diners was before dinner. Apparently Cunard does not do things this way. So, other than spending time in their cabin or a lounge, what do people do from 6:00 to 8:30? We’ll be pleading our case with the maître d’ for a switch to early dining.

In our case, since we have a regular get-together at the Commodore Club at 5:00 (Friends of Dorothy) - we usually are finishing off our last drink until about 6:30 (dress code violation!) and then head to the cabin. Get dressed and futz around until about 7:30 and then head to the Chart Room for pre-dinner drinks.

It works for us.

We always do late dinning, much prefer it. From 6:00 to 7:00 late afternoon/early evening drinks, from 7:00 to 8:00 get ready for dinner, 8:00 to 8:30 pre dinner drinks :cool:

Lol. There is also method in my madness.I find I'm less inclined to overheat wearing a MD jacket after a good gym session cool down.

A slow walk/stroll around the promenade (maybe a couple of laps) if the weather is good, seeing the "early seaters" appearing in their finery.

Maybe read a book on the balcony, or if too wet and windy, on the sofa.

Relax and unwind in the cabin, write diary notes, write emails (for sending at a quiet time internet-wise), maybe transfer photos to laptop for back-up.

Shower&shave, then spend some time slowly dressing, rather than rushing as normal 'cus I'm late.

Then off to the Commodore Club (or Chart Room) for pre-dinner cocktail(s).

I love that hour or so, shut away in my cabin, away from the "buzz" of the ship, before stepping out ready for dinner and another fabulous evening.

What time of year, and what sort of cruise? A Northern Europe cruise in the dead of winter is going to have very different pre-dinner activities on offer than a Mediterranean cruise in high summer ;)

Just got off QE this morning and they trialled on a couple of occasions a theatre show at 7pm for those on late sitting and there was no show at the usual at 1030pm.

6-7 is prime deck walking with fewer people about. And 7:00 is great for getting on the internet with more than half the ship occupied. Which leaves just enough time for a shower, tie tying and cuff links linking and off to the Commodore at 7:30 for piano music and cocktails.

Good time to enjoy less crowed venue's while almost 1/2 the guests are @ dinner .

During that time we visit the Spa pool , casino , computer center , drinks , etc. .

We usually book late dinner . Tried Early on recent QM2 cruise .

Felt rushed thru the afternoon , trying to squeeze in the Spa pool and drinks before 6pm .

Going back to Late on future cruises on Cunard , and Anytime Dinning on other cruise lines that offer it (almost all of them ) .

After a day in port, there is barely enough time to get showered and dressed for 7.30 cocktails and music.

On sea days, I might stay at the pool late and again there is barely enough time to get showered and dressed for 7.30 cocktails and music. If ready earlier, there is usually live music already from 7.00 in at least one of the bars. And of course there is always dancing in teh Queens Room.

So many things to do in such a little time frame. Plan Plan and Plan again..

In the Pub they have a Dart Board, Trivia and a great staff . It used tio be across from the Gambling Hall now across from those Revenue producing Single Cabins..eh..

Your on the same voyage we are. So make time with us fellow ship mates too.

We did book early on this voyage again. So yes as a normalcy we obtained Early Seated Dining in the Main Dining Hall. The wait staff is wonderful and so much betetr trained than many of the Now Nickle and Dime lines.

I wager, youall will not have a quandry finding things all about this wonderful Ocean Liner.

Are you a shareholder of Carnival (CCL/CUK :NYSE/LSE) yet too ? Those shareholder benefits do add up nicely and not a PITA as with RCL :NYSE either..

We like to go for cocktails about 6.45 and into dinner at about 7.30. If we had to choose a sitting, for us it would have to be second, then we’d go for drinks at about 7.30.

I never thought that I'd be asked "What do you do between 6.pm and 8.30.pm on a Cunard ship", it's a funny old World isn't it?

For us 5pm is Commodore o'clock, so we're up there for a cocktail or 2 leaving by 6:30 so as not to compromise the dress code by too much, then back to the cabin to get ready before heading down to the pub for Trivia, we used to go to the Chart Room for one last livener before dinner, sadly that's now gone.

We are also just off QE having been on our usual late sitting. We would head to the pool somewhere after 5, swim, hot tub, back to cabin for a shower and to get dressed, up to the Commodore Club for drinks and nibbles then dash down to the pub for trivia before dinner.

Never a problem to fill the time, more a problem of not enough time.

Definitely pre-dinner drinks in the Chart Room. But sometimes I go to the casino and play some blackjack. Good time to get lots of games in before any crowds arrive.

On our QM2 cruise, we went to the Golden Lion for quiz and it finished just in time to finish our drinks and then leisurely make our way into dinner.

I spend 6-7 having a little down time and then changing for dinner. Then to trivia and afterwards I watch the dancing for a few minutes and then on to the dining room.

So prefer late sitting, especially if you have been ashore during the day. No rush when you get back. I like to spend a little time on the balcony, leisurely get ready and then go for pre-dinner drinks. Go the late show after dinner.

Tea at 3, walk around deck, hot tub at 5, dress for dinner, canapés in stateroom, drinks at 7 in QG lounge, dinner QG at 8, go by Queen's room to enjoy the pageant, wander down to pub for karaoke or a final drink at Commodores Club, close disco because we can. This is one quiet ship at 3 in the morning. But, it's not haunted at 3 like the original QM.
