Which way?

I know some have strong opinions so I am asking: which way do you walk around the promenade deck? Take the bow as 12:00, do you walk clockwise or counterclockwise?

I never want to be "that" person, nor feel like the salmon trying to swim upstream...but I would get the hint and turn around.

Does it make a difference?

Counter clockwise, just like a race track in the states.

Depends on wind direction.

I go counter clockwise simply because it is intuitive. Although you do see people going the other way it seems that counter clockwise is the preferred direction. There is no rule though.

I guess I'm one of those who go against things because I vastly prefer to walk clockwise to counter clockwise. I make sure to stay out of the way of people and stay out of the traffic flow at heavily traveled spots. One nice thing to going "against the flow" is you get to greet everyone. I've even had a few converts join me! :)

Counterclockwise, go with the flow.

On most HAL ships I've been on, there are posted signs requesting the way walkers should walk & I believe that the signs suggest walking counter-clockwise... The signs also have the number of revolutions per mile on them..

Counterclockwise here. Probably started with the Walk for a Cure as all of those we've participated in have been counterclockwise.

I mix it up. That way, my sneakers - bright white, American tourist style - will wear evenly. ;)

It depends which side of the ship I exit onto the promenade deck and then I usually start walking towards the bow. I don't walk laps for exercise, just taking a stroll.

We walk several miles/day walking laps and have never seen signs on any ship telling what direction to walk.

I wondered why you went "against the flow"? :D I never did ask you while on ship in June.

Isn't that funny, until it was brought up here, I never actually thought about direction. I usually walk onto the Promenade Deck and turn to my left; thinking about turning right just doesn't feel right. The things you do without thinking about it!

No idea what ship, sorry. Not even sure if it's a HAL vessel or not. I didn't take this photo, but I do remember seeing a similar sign on board the Rotterdam years ago.

I know I've seen such a directional sign on the Prinsendam.

I have seen similar signs on HAL ships.

Hard to believe - 22 posts so far on which direction to walk on the ship. Even harder to believe that I actually looked at some of them. We all must have something better to dow our lives.

We once took a picture of the sign, but have no idea on which ship.. & we have all of our photo's by year & ship in our albums & PC..

Some of us go both ways. ;)
