"LIVE" from Norwegian Breakaway - Oct 12, 2014

Hello everyone. . . Good morning. Welcome to Day 7 of “LIVE” from Norwegian Breakaway

I slept late this morning (5:15AM) and went to Garden Café to try some delicious muffins. I really like the muffins (and bagels) there. They were put to good use with a glass of OJ, and a hot coffee. The best coffee is from the Lavazza machine in my cabin but I don’t want to wake someone up by using the machine at “Radio Dark 30”

Yes, I know today is the last day. . .and the day will be used to start packing, figuring out room charges, and may taking several images of things that I haven’t seen yet. I may be trying the Ropes course again today, so I can use the Zip line and gangplank. I still have several Casino “payout coupons” so that will give me an excuse to go down to Deck 7 a few more times.

The Ice Bar last night was very nice idea. . . I am not sure I would do it again, but about 20 of us were kind of jammed in a 20X20 Ice box . . . That's really what it is. A meat freezer (as was suggested last night) but the lighting, flat screens, the bar, and the ice sculptures made it seem kind of very unusual. It was a one of a kind experience. I was also in there with several Cruise Critic friends that made it even better. I don’t drink but I had a Coney Island. It was good, and the glass was made of ice. (Of course it was) it was enjoyable time.

Here are a few pics from last night and this morning. . . More images will be posted later.

Many thanks, Mark, for your awesome "live from." I'm only two weeks off a cruise ship and I'm having debarkation sympathy pangs after reading your post. :p From your posts it seems Breakaway's crew has worked out the first-of-class kinks, and the ship now seems to be getting all the love Getaway got right from the start.

You've convinced me that my big 2016 cruise is going to be a 12-night southern Caribbean on Breakaway. Cheers! :D

Anyone on board BA now or just off have a copy of the teen program schedule? Just day-toured the Gem today and was shocked to see teen club Entourage closed every night from 8-10pm. I understand closing for dinner even to maybe 8 pm. But closed until 10pm seems silly to me. Just wondering if this was fleet wide or just this week since it is probably "light" on teens/kids anyway. I am sure my teen will find things to do anyway but he is always itching to get done with dinner by around 7:30-8pm so he can meet up and see the plan for the night.

Hello everyone. . . It is with sadness that I have to say that my “LIVE” will end soon. I really enjoyed the ship, crew, and friendly acquaintances met on board. I reported in 2009 that NCL was the first Cruise line to really step outside of the box to do things that most cruise lines can’t do or won’t do. Well in 2014 they have proven again that NCL really wants to be different. Other lines are noticing and trying to do the same. But Freestyle cruising is not for everyone. NCL has her detractors, but all Cruise Lines now seem to. I like NCL a lot, and think the Freestyle concept, accommodation choices, and especially the Haven concept are far above other Cruise Lines. I will miss Norwegian Breakaway and will try to sail again soon (maybe to Bermuda in 2015)

I mentioned this morning several activities I was considering for today . . . Ooops. . .that didn’t happen, and I just kind of . . . I didn’t do much of anything. I took a few pics and made it down to the Casino but it was the most restful day I had.

I am very proud to report that my DD notified me of new additions to our family. She had twins this morning (girls) and I can’t wait to see them on my way home tomorrow. It wasn’t supposed to be until next week, but Mother Nature decided a few days early. There will be a couple more Mini Radios to be sailing the seven seas very soon. . .

We are 50nm east of the VA/MD line and currently sailing at 16kts and have 180nm to go until we reach the Manhattan cruise terminal. I may post one more time when we arrive tomorrow . . . I have to get up very early for an early debarkation.

Thanks for all of the nice comments, and thanks for tuning in.

As all guests must go, I guess I shall . . .

Radio, thanks so much for doing this. Thinking about a ctn in jan or February of next year on this ship. Can you compare this ship to oasis class on rccl. I have heard the pool deck is not big enough for the amount of passengers on breakaway. Thanks!

Another excellent report. You've made Breakaway enticing and we may have to look into it.

Congratulations! Are these your first grandchildren? Even more excitement.

Thank you, again, and I really look forward to your next mini review of Quantum, since I'll be right behind you!
