Cruise Ship Locations - During the cruise ship ban of 2020/2021/2022

Recommended Posts

A year ago today I created this thread only thinking this was only going to last a month or two, little did we know it would be a year since we have seen a cruise ship down under 😞 🥺

I think I might have to get the title of this thread changed!

Hopefully I wont be posting again this message again in a years time!

Yes you are right.  I replayed it and he did say 2023 but was referring to World Cruises not shorter ones or domestic.

I have added his latest video from a few days ago regarding the fire onboard MSC Lirica.  Interesting comments about the fire onboard Star Princess years ago and the updated safety features now in place.

I watched that on you tube this arvo, very interesting.

I like the bloke, he is fair dinkum, down to earth, no snob pom officer like some are, not so much on P&O UK where he came from but Cunard officers are a bit up themselves, well on QM2 anyway. Alfie will go well on P&O Straya.

As Senior Second Officer he says he is responsible for Emergency procedures on board, including the fire fighting teams, as well as several other duties. He is ranked No.5 on board.

The many CC members on here who booked Coral Princess May 2022 Worldie, might feel a little worried if they take Alfie's word re 2023 Worldies ! Perhaps it was a slip of the tongue.

For a world cruise you are going to need a lot of countries to open their borders and get organised with vaccines.  Maybe mystery world cruises?  A lot of planning must go into world cruises.

Until the world opens up covid free, I suspect world cruises will be for the ship, rather than the destinations.  Current world cruise planning must be a nightmare!  In the meantime, cruising around a particular country with members of that country seems to be the way to go.

Small ship cruising have been the first ships off the mark.  I received an email about Ponant cruises around Australia.  Then there is the Australian small ship company which has cruised around Tassie then up SA and WA Coast to Broome. etc.

The experts reckon it would take  60 days to muster the crew, and get ready to sail. So if these ships are coming here in September, it is near time to get the ships and crews in order.

Let us get the party started...

There’s no way our nanny government would allow 3 or 4 thousand people together for a week with out vaccines.

They are now talking ,some people won’t be getting a needle till next year.

And will the cruise lines still be in business?

I figure once the Government gives permission for foreign cruise vessels to be in our waters, and they are tied up at our wharves, we will have plenty of opportunity to go on a cruise.  I look forward to going on a local cruise.

Singapore Cruise Ship Update - 20th June 2021.

Carnival Spirit and Carnival Splendor have decide to runaway from Singapore and head to the United Arab Emirates!

Apparently they are heading up there to pick up crew!

(This is according to Carnival Brand Ambassador John Heald in a Facebook post).

Carnival Spirit is heading to Dubai and Carnival Splendor is heading to Fujairah:

Makes one wonder if they will all be working in the Caribbean and Europe.  I cannot see the cruise ship armada from my window down here.☹️

I wonder if the Captains and Officers have to stay current like their aviation brethren.  So, if they if they haven't been behind the wheel for a while do they have to do a training run?

What makes you think they haven't been 'behind the wheel ' for a while?  Unlike planes parked in the desert,  the cruise ships have been on the go continuously,  even if at times they only carried a minimum crew. So captains and some senior officers would have had their normal rotations (within the possibilities of Covid  travel restrictions).

I have three Princess bookings, using my FCC's, for Emerald, Royal and Coral. Princess is reporting that the first two are at anchorage off La Paz, México, with Coral off the Bahamas. It would appear they are hanging around US of A with no intention of coming down under.☹️

Waiting for Australia/NZ to open them pearly gates, might be waiting a while, but they would know that by now.

??? Diamond Princess and Sapphire Princess are just off Singapore. Sapphire is supposed to be here for the 21/22 season if it goes ahead.
